Well I have told NO ONE about my surgery. And don't plan to. My circle of friends are people who love to eat and many are overweight. I did not want the Debbie downers and negative nellies in my head. It was difficult enough for me to come to this drastic decision to have 80% of my stomach removed. In the or holding area the nurse asked me why did I decide to do it. I really had no answer. She then told me she was using God's help to help her lose her weigh. I did not respond. When I went for the leak test the young lady in the lab asked " so why did you get the sleeve?" I looked at her and did not answer.

You do what is best for you. This is your process. Do what is needed to get you to the next step so you can start living the healthy new lifestyle. Good luck with all, including school.

My primary doctor once told me I had a big heavy body. I still hear her voice in my head. I still feel hurt by her words. I don't believe she was being deliberately hurtful, but her words hurt. I do have a big heavy body and I'm well aware of it. Hearing her say it made me feel worst about myself.

Thank you. I never thought in a million years that I would get a leak. Of course you didn't. None of us are really prepared to be told something is not right. I also had the leek test the day after my surgery and it came back negative. So we just don't know what can happen. My surgery lasted 5 1/2hours. I'm still in shock. I really do hope they fix you up soon and you can get back to recovering and moving on with the process. Be encouraged.

So sorry you are experiencing this. I hope all gets sorted out soon. This is the part we don't hear about. I'm praying for a speedy recovery for you.

I was sleeved on 7/18. Still in some pain but better than Saturday. The gas is a problem though. When I sip my fluids, feels like a ball in my chest. Very uncomfortable feeling. Makes me not want to drink, but I know I have to. My surgeon only allows 4 ounces every hour and I'm struggling to get that in. My bed that I used to love is now the enemy. Just can't get comfortable. Wish I had a recliner.

Looking for July Sleevers!
finediva replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve at ECMC too! You get your own room which is really nice, but the NP for my doctor admitted dietary does not get it. They do full liquids by the next day and tomato soup ! Overall, it was wonderful there! Just wished I felt better than I do. My surgery was Monday the 14th. my surgery was on Friday. I was in the OR from 136pm to 705pm. I had alot of scar tissue from three c sections. I came home last night. The pain and gas is almost unbearable, but I force myself to walk and drink. My surgeon is very strict. I'm only allowed no more than 4 ounces of clear liquids per hour. I have to do that until my visit with her next Monday when I'll be 10 days out. I'm trying to keep my head up and look to the future. -

Any july sleevers out there?
finediva replied to Dyesha's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Dyesha, welcome. My surgery is tomorrow at 1155am. I'm sorta numb right now. Doing the laundry and cleaning the house to keep my mind busy. Next I'll wash my hair and give myself a pedicure to remove the nail polish. I had planned to go in with a really bright and cheerful color, but at pre testing was told no nail polish.( Insert sad face here! ) -

Congrats, you look so pretty and happy. Continued success. -
I have BCBS New York. My surgery was approved over the phone, no paperwork was mailed or faxed. The approval was given within 15 minutes of the call. The secretary is still in shock. It's amazing that these insurance companies are as different in their requirements, as the surgeons are in their stand on the pre op diet. One month pre op, three, two, or one week pre op diet. No pre op diet! Amazing! Hope it works out for you soon.

Who really followed the post-op diet?

What do you mean lol? It's a phrase. You should be in the movies (pictures).....like you look like a move star. I'm showing my age here. Lol -
Ms Mac. I laughed the entire time I was readind ur post. So honest and true for many of us on this pounds off journey. While I cannot say I've ever had such a food crawl, I've done ny fair share of mindless eating. Still, the way you documented the day.......hilarious!!!

So sorry you lost your mom. My heart goes out to you, the kiddos and the other family members. You now have two very difficult emotions to deal with. Must be extremely difficult. Is it possible you can postpone the surgery for a few weeks? Grief is so overwhelming. This surgery is physically and emotionally overwhelming. My heart goes out to you. I will speak your name when I pray. Peace and blessings,

Viral Chest infection and vomiting
finediva replied to lblondon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still fail to understand your hostile manner. -
What did your surgeon say about that? At my pre testing on Monday I was told if I get a cold and have a fever or upper respiratory infection I will not be allowed to have the surgery. Makes sense, but I was shocked when I was told. I want to stay in my room until Friday morning. My sixteen year old has been to three amusement parks since I received my surgery day. Love jim but wish could send himaway for the summer. Teenage friends always in the house. Do love him!!!
