  1. @@mi75 Thanks for the pep talk. I'm trying to stay focused. When was your surgery?
  2. @mi75. Ok, sorry for not respond to your question. Only knew one person who broke the contract. She simply paid a termination fee. Not sure how much.
  3. @mi75. Hi my post somehow got mixed up in the middle of your op. Sorry. I was sleeved on July 18th. When was your surgery? We are the same starting weight and height. I've had slow progress. Any tips to share? I'm getting excellent protein and good fluids. Congrats on the weight loss!

    Liquid Diet????

So your surgeon did not put you on protein shakes? I was on a two weeks liquid pre op diet and my surgeon put me on Bariatric Advantage shakes. Maybe it was an oversight on the sergeon path. Call the office and ask.

    Liquid Diet????

Are you pre or post op?
  6. I WILL NOT MISS SHOPPING FOR PLUS SIZE CLOTHING!!!!!!!!!!! Don't know what I'll try, as I really have never let my size keep me from doing things I want to do. But maybe I'll come up with something.
  7. Any pictures to share? If I can afford it, this would be my surgery after reaching goal. Have not shown above my elbow in over 30 yrs. Glad you said there was no pain and recovery was easy.

    Medicare...

    Yup. Good idea.
  9. your arms seen toned with no loose skin. They seem tiny and toned. I'm obsessed with arms. I've not shown my arms in 30 years. Congrats on your awesome journey.

    Excess skin question

@AvaFern. Congrats! When did you get to goal weight? What plastics did you have? Thanks.
  11. It's a wedding. There's got to be chicken, fish and beef involved. Maybe even shrimp. Eat what you are able to. People should be too busy looking at the bride and the enjoying the festivities; they should not be paying attention to what you are eating. I went to a baby christening, that included a sit down dinner, when I was 9 days post op. I still had my drain and my post op visit was the next day. I walked in with a stainless steel container with my chicken broth. I was only allowed water and broth for the first 10 days. I explained to the host I was recovering from an illness and was unable to eat solid food. She made sure I was provided bottles of water all evening long. I actually had a good time.

    Failing my sleeve

Ok, so here is the tough love you are asking for. Did you voluntarily lay on an operating table, have a perfect stranger put you in an unconscious state then have another stranger remove 80% of your stomach? Yes? So, what does that mean to you? How do you plan to continue to honor that huge decision you made in 2012? The hard work to lose the 70lbs? I completely empathize about your new shocking status as a grandmother. I currently have a 16 yr old boy. Lord help me if that news came to my door! Don't go back to putting your self on the back burner. Life is gonna keep happening, but you have to keep taking care of you. Took me decades to figure that out.
  14. So why are you reading the horror stories and where are you finding them? Remember, that which we focus on........

    Fat girl Struggles .....

@bikrchk. How long did it take you to get to your goal?

    Unsatisfied with food!

I used to eat for hunger and enjoyment. Well, I ate a lot for enjoyment. Now I eat because I have to. I don't really crave any special foods. I also eat a very limited variety. Just not interested and I ate a lot of carbs before. So now I just focus on proteins. I can't hold very much so that here is little chance of cheating. Ever so often I grieve the lost of a certain food (a toasted bagel and cream cheese with my huge mug of coffee on a Saturday morning). I fully realize that I ate to comfort myself. Now that I no longer do that, it's a huge relief. I would so love a crunchy salad. But can't do that yet. Like you my whole focus is on the protein level. Once I do that, there is no more room.

    Fat girl Struggles .....

Well you let it out my love. You feel old? You are 35 and have your best years ahead of you. I so wish this was around when I was 35. I spent my teens, twenties, thirties and forties obese. You have a chance not to do that. Go with the process to achieving better health. BTW, your sleep apnea would likely improve once you have lost some weight. Blessings.

    Coughing at night....

It could still be acid reflux, without the buring. Obviously I'm not a doctor, but when I experienced the same thing I was put on a pp. All better now!

    Complications

@Kindle. I believe her mother had the surgery in mexico, as stated in the previous post.

    sleep problems

Sounds like acid reflux. Are you on an acid blocker? You should report this to your surgeon.

    Complications

I'm so sorry to hear that she has not made a full recovery as yet. It must be very difficult for her, and for you as her support. I will continue to pray for her for her recovery to be speedy and complete, and for you to continue to find the strength to be by her side.

Denied 2 days BEFORE surgery! Help!

I don't understand what happened here. I did all requirements, case was submitted to insurance company, I was approved, went to meet with surgeon AFTER approval received from insurance, doctor and I settled on surgery date and I was given pre op instructions. In that order. Did you believe you were approved? Did the office ever call and say you were approved? How long ago was your surgery scheduled?
  23. @InspirationMySon. It's the one where they removed your stomach. It's my biggest one too. Feel better soon.
  24. Yeah, I was a huge lover of eggs, made just about any way. Eggs were my go to food before surgery. I tried them in the beginning of soft stage. Sat on the couch for two hours willing myself NOT to vomit! Vomiting scares me! I have not tried them since, don't think I will ever go back to them. Sad.
