  1. I did not use this forum to decide which WL procedure to have. I attended a WL seminar and had a consult with the surgeon. That being said, have you done either of these two things? My only suggestion for you would be for you to have a bariatric consultation where your medical history and weight loss goals can be addressed. The WL seminar will give you the details of each surgery. The seminar I attended had a question and answer portion, and the surgeons patiently answered tons of questions from the attendees. Best.

    DISAPPOINTED & ANGRY

@@Roo101769 Thank you for the honest and very well said answer. I have been at the exact weight for three weeks. I guess I'm stalled as I refuse to believe that I am finished. I am so happy to be under 200 pounds, but have no idea what to do to see even one pound loss on the scale. I am sticking with the program because I have absolutely no choice. But I admit it's tough to be getting the required Protein and Water and under 800 calories and still see no change.

Travel in early post op period

Yes, it will. You will be eating like a bird. If they have know you tk be a big eater, they will have questions. I'm over two months post op. Because I have chosen to not share my decision to have surgery with anyone I don't really want to be around eating events with people who know me right now.Strangers and I'm fine.
  4. @@Miss Mac. OMG! I went to my surgeon's office to drop off some of my test results that her office assistant stated had not been received. When she saw me she loudly exclaimed " omg, why are you doing this, you are not even big." I smiled politely and told her I wanted to look more like her......she is about my height and about 100pound less than I am. She had no response. As for dealing with comments from others, don't have that issue as I told zero people. I refuse to have idiotic conversations about my journey. All my energy needs to be used to focus and get me through this not very easy process. People are beginning to notice my loss and ask if I'm losing weight. I say yes and keep it moving.

    1st appointment questions

I find it was helpful for me to attend a WL seminar first, then I scheduled the appointment with my surgeon. I then came up with a list of questions that were either not covered in the seminar or that were personal to my situation, example, my acid reflux and poor circulation issues.

    A little late...

Congrats on the surgery girl. Keep getting better. You will feel better every day, just hang in there, and NO, don't dig into that food at your house!!

    Juicing on pre-op diet?

You will need to ask your surgeon or NUT this question. My surgeon had me on 3 Bariatric Advantage shakes a day. Period. For the first week I was allowed a very small lean meat and green veggie meal, in place of one of the shakes. She really did not want me to have it, but stated I could it the first week if I was having a difficult time staying on the program. The second week, just the three shakes. I was told absolutely no fruit. Every plan is different. I followed my surgeon's guidelines. Best.

@manibeaux. Lol. No seriously, I laughed out loud. You checked into a Holiday Inn? It was that bad huh? Maybe it is best to wait until you have actually recovered!

@@Ginger Snaps. Yes, she maybe projecting her own disillusionment with her relationship on to you. No matter what she maybe experiencing with her marriage, she should want you to be happy and fulfilled. She chose to stay in her marriage and that's fine. You chose not to. You are also choosing to try a relationship again. As you should. My marriage didn't work out, but I hope my children can experience successful unions. Here's to finding love and companionship again.
  10. Lord knows I wish I had this issue. I am never ever thirsty and struggle to drink the required amount of water/fliuds. Most days I come close, but that means I'm still drinking at 10pm. If I force myself and drink too much at one time, I get heart burn.

    Need some experienced weight losers

Again, how will jumping through the hoops aid in you giving up your food addiction? This issue has to be dealt with or you wil find a way to eat around your sleeve.

    Need some experienced weight losers

Well do you think you might still binge eat after the surgery. The surgery won't prevent you from doing that. Something to think about. I wish you success on your journey.

    Failing already!

Sorry you are going through this struggle. Yes, schedule a visit with your surgeon. You need an intervention and sooner than later. Your surgeon don't want you to fail. Your success is also their success. Best.
  15. How much weight have you lost so far? I believe it can happen from rapid weight loss.

    I didn't know how big I was

I felt fat and looked fat, but I also thought I looked good when I was dressed to go out, and I did. The thing is I've only lost half of my weight and people are reacting so strongly to the way I look. I have not bought any new clothes. I'm trying to get by for a little while more. Anyways, I'm now wondering what the heck people's reactions will be as I Iose the next 40 pounds, and wear clothes that actually fit me. Will be interesting to see

    Gain 40 Pounds

@WifeyMaterial. Soda and chips? Seriously girl? And you stated you have no energy. Well, soda and chips! Boiled eggs, shrimp (if you are able to) get a rotisserie chicken and keep it in the fridge, cheese sticks, almonds, greek yogurts with sugar free fruit preserves, fat free milk for protein shakes, homemade tuna and chicken salad. Ok, so you see where I'm going with this. Keep these things on hand at all times. Soda and chips.....never! All the best.

    Pre op diet

My surgery was July 18th. I never took any kind of vitamins before the sleeve as I have detest swallowing pills. Once I decided to have surgery my surgeon strongly recommended I start taking vitamins. So I started on a chewable and still take it. Vitamins are very strongly recommended in my program. I was required to do a two week pre op diet th as t consisted of protein shakes. Now over two months out I use unflavored protein powder in fat free milk to meet my protein requirements for the day. I have my 3 month visit on 10/20. My blood work will be done and based on results, my surgeon will make recommendations. Hope this helps. And yes, 38 bmi is obese.
  20. Hello, what an amazing transformation. I just read your article. So honest and informative. I will try some of the Soup recipes. Thanks for sharing.

    ARRRGGGGHHHHH! my mother #$)&(*U#)(*

Yes, this Friday would be 9 yrs since I lost my mom. No matter how I THOUGHT she got on my nerves sometimes, I wish with all my heart she was still on this earth with me. She would of been one of the two people I would of shared this journey with. And she would of been so supportive. Worried about the surgery, but totally supportive. I knew it broke her heart to see me struggle with my weight ALL my life. She did not have weight issues, but my father side of the family are VERY large people. Because she and my sister, who also left this earth the same year, are the only two people I would of trusted to share my journey with, I have told no one. I MISS MY MOM!!!

    Pre op diet

Yes, it could be that your lower BMI is the reason. Here in the US some doctors do a pre op diet or some version of it, and some don't. I was required to do a two week. There are people who do one week, or two days before surgery. It varies. Best of everything with your journey.
  23. finediva

    Pre op diet

Well seeing as he is one of the best, I guess you are in expert hands. Maybe you can see a psychiatrist on your own to discuss your issues? You didn't indicate your starting weight or BMI. Maybe based on that you don't need a pre op diet.
  24. finediva

    Pre op diet

Do you mean your surgeon does NOT require a pre op diet, OR requires one, but didn't give specific details of what to do? As far as psychologically, did you have a psychological evaluation?

    I had a oreo

No judgement, but why would you choose oreos? You are only one week post op. Treat your sleeve as a newborn baby who is only allowed to have mother's milk or formula. Why are you keeping trigger foods around you? Maybe you don't live alone and these foods are in the house? Either way, you will have to try and deal with these moments when they come up. Sticking with your surgeon's food phases is the best thing you can do for yourself and your long term success. Best.
