Newbie, pre-op questions
finediva replied to della street's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@della street. Had endoscopy, had two week died. Sadly, no nail polish on fingers and toes, sad face. -
I strongly suggest you get this answer from the correct source. Either you call the insurance company directly and ask them or have someone from your surgeon's office do so. Just my opinion. Best.

What are you telling people at home and at work?
finediva replied to vsgcrystalg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@vsgcrystalg. Well all those reasons are great, but they will come with you losing a large amount of weight. Some of them will probably figure it out. I told no one, including my grown kids and one teenage son. I don't plan to. Every one sees that I'm eating less. No one has questioned me yet. Mainly, I was NEVER a junk food eater. I always tried to eat healthy. My issue and how I got to this point? HUGE portions. I ate way too much food. I would start of with three pieces of chicken. That sort of thing. So people see me eating, just much less. -

Question for my Postop People:
finediva replied to Anewlife2live's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was on the purred phase. Cream of wheat, soup and skim milk with uunflavored protein powder. I kept it simple as I had no real desire to eat (seriously wish I could say that now). I also tried tuna fish. Even now I eat basically the same things most days. -
@Sistersuz. Still stalled. So discouraging, but I see my doctor on Monday for my 3 month visit. Maybe she'll have some advise. Hang in there, you will be moving through the process and hitting the phases. It's a process. All the best on this journey.

I'm three months out on Friday. My stomach makes very loud noises. I hate it. It's annoying and ridiculous. I'm embarrassed to be around people if I have to eat.

@@MarieMarie Ouch! I think the worst thing can be a mother who is jealous of her daughter, but unfortunately it happens more often than people realize. So sorry this is your experience. I have an adult daughter. I just want her to be happy and safe.

Reading your post made me sad, because you sound so sad and at a lost as to what to do. I agree with others, get another opinion, or get several. Find another doctor. Continue to research, talk to your primary care physician. Keep fighting for yourself and those grand babies. BTW, three months out this Friday. I have not had a single issue with diarrhea. Not once.
-
@Sistersuz. Hey girl, I'm doing well. Three months this Friday. I have not had any loss for three weeks, which befuddles me as I'm eating under 800 calories a day. I'm seeing my doctor on Monday so let's see what she says.

You are welcomed. Actually it's called ricotta bake. Google it. Yummy.

Your response to: "but you aren't 'THAT' big!"
finediva replied to MisforMimi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Every time I read these idiotic comments that family and friends make, it makes me even more certain that I did the absolutely right thing by telling ZERO people about my surgery. I'm three months out this Friday and thank the good Lord I've only had to deal with the thoughts in my head, while I struggle to drink Water, get enough Protein, poop every few days, wonder why I'm eating so little calories and my scale has not moved in three weeks, and deal with a moody teenager. I just don't have time for nonsense. Just don't have time. -
Have you seen Aretha Franklin lately?
finediva replied to Cococat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
She claims it's Weight Watchers, and even became their spokes person. I'm just saying.Only she and her "if there was a surgeon" knows. I'm just saying. Either way, good for her for being healthy. -
I am three months out this Friday and I am still living on this stuff. I think it's called addicted.

Carnie Wilson had the by pass years ago. The surgery was actually shown live on TV. She lost alot and grained back alot, I think after she had her baby. She is very open about her weight struggles As far as ReRe, I know she is a public figure, but she can still choose not to tell all of her business. Glad for her if she is getting healthy. BYW, Magic Johnson's son had sleeve surgery. -
And now I wait.....

Taking gallbladder out during sleeve surgery?
finediva replied to Rubygirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I asked for mine to be removed during my sleeve surgery and my surgeon refused. She stated mine was fine, based on my ultrasound results, and the insurance company wouldn't pay for the procedure. She also refused to give me medication to prevent any future issues. I hope she's right, because if I end up with trouble I'll be mad. -
Did You Freak Out About Surgery on the Day Of?
finediva replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I was completely alone and my big girl panties stayed up until they took me to the holding room. I began thinking how my mom and beautiful sister would be with me if they had not died. I began hoping I would wake up and make it home to my 16 yr old baby boy. I began thinking I should just go home and eat like I had a sleeve. Then the tears came. The poor nurse was befuddled. She thought it was something she had done. I was crying so hard I could not reassure her. She got her iphone and put on some christian music and gave it to me to hold. The anesthesiologist came in soon after and gave me a Valium. I did nothing so he gave me another one. YEAH! I had to walk to the ER, but only remember the iv being inserted. YEAH! -
I feel like I'm going to lose my mind today
finediva replied to Angie413's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@KarenF1972 Trust me. When you get up tomorrow food will be the LAST thing on your mind. You will not be hungry. Trust me! And you will not be hungry when you wake up from your surgery nap! -
@@Roo101769 Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I walk quite a bit, but probably need to do more. I confess that like you, while I am an active person, I do not like to exercise. Never have. My issue with the sleeve surgery is I believed the reduced amount of calories would show a loss every week. Well, that's not the case. I am sticking with the program, because, well, I already removed 80% of my stomach. There is no do over. Just moving forward. I wish you continued success.

At my pre op testing, one week before surgery, I was told to call the hospital the day before If I was running a fever. You have a cold and two weeks to get over it. Drink tons of fluids and stay in bed. It should pass. All the best.

Welcome Patty. I hope you get the results you hope for this time. All the best.

Seeing the Surgeon next week nevous and excited, will this really help my addiction to food?
finediva replied to jackmax's topic in The Guys’ Room
No, this surgery will not help your addiction to food. If you are truly addicted you will find a way to eat around your sleeve. This issue will be addressed when you have your psych eval. Be honest and get help dealing with it so you have the best outcome. Best.
