  1. Daily but I keep small fluctuations in perspective. Keeps me on task.

    My journey...

My height and weight were the same as yours. I am now 10 months post-op and am down 115 pounds. You will do great!

    Drainage Tube

Took mine out in the hospital. Removal was just slightly uncomfortable.
  4. I know I shouldn't but I like to blame the family of speed-eaters I live with! Hehe!!

    I'm freezing!

10 months out and still freezing!????
  6. Same for me with the type II. Left the hospital not needing any meds.

    Can we talk blenders?

I have a Ninja and I will say that it is fine for blending but does not do a great job grinding ice. I have to use an ice shaver if I want to add ice to smoothies.
  8. I think this is perfectly normal. I am 9 months post op and also need pictures to confirm to myself that I am at a normal weight. I don't see this as a problem. If I was still seeing a fat person in the pictures still, then I would think that would be reason for concern.

    Pixie cut?

I am in my mid 50s and got my pixie a month or so ago. I absolutely love it and it is so easy to style. It's been wonderful to finally be at a weight that can allow such a short cut! Yea!!

    Cold feet

So so normal to have second thoughts but very few have regrets long term. Real complications are rare and most of us wish we had had it done sooner.
  11. I find that if I make sure to get a protein shake for breakfast, that kind of takes some of the pressure off of me for the rest of the day. I also agree with the post that it is hard to get the maximum amount of protein recommended in the first couple of weeks but it does get easier. Don't fret too much about it.
  12. Had RNY in March and have lost 115 pounds. Left the hospital not needing my diabetic meds anymore.
  13. LipstickLady, you ask why I would care if it is not coming out of my pocket, please consider this...I am the owner of a small business that employs under 15 employees. We have always provided health insurance for our employees. For the last 3 years, we have had our premiums increased by an average of over 40% each year, making it harder and harder for us to cover our employees, so, yes, surgeries that are performed on these individuals, do affect us and our ability to provide insurance for our dedicated employees. High medical costs affect us all, especially those who have to purchase private insurance plans.

    Sublingual b12 ?

I use the Celebrate sublinguals and they melt pretty rapidly.

    Will I always be cold?

    Cold here in mid-Atlantic state!
  16. I have no problems with Riesling or other white wines. The carbonation in beer and the hard lemonades do give me trouble.
  17. I am 9 months out, down 115 pounds, and have a BMI of 25. Wasn't an easy journey but soooo worth it.
  18. Agree. What you are describing is not normal. Call your doctor.
  19. Not everyone progresses at the same rate. If you attempt eating something that disagrees with you, back off and try again in a few days or so. Things will get better and you will be able to tolerate foods better as you heal. Remember you are on a journey. It does get better.

    Should I get an endoscopy?

Follow your doctor's advice. Are you having the nausea and vomiting after eating? There is definitely a learning curve, learning to eat slowly and recognizing the signs of being full. I am 9 months post-op and a couple of times a month I will screw up and vomit from being too full. Eating slowly is such a challenge for me because I live with a couple of speed eaters!
  21. You will be fine. By and large, complications are rare.
  22. I am 57 and 9 months post op. I have lost 110 pounds since this whole journey started and am about 5 pounds from my goal. I have never liked the ready made protein drinks but make my own, using recipes from the Bariatric Foodie Cookbook.
