Hi, I have a question for post - op I'm scheduled For my surgery on 7/3/14. I'm schedule to start my college class on 7/8/14 my question is is that a realistic decision I have read of people going back to work in a week after surgery. I took two weeks off from work so the only thing I would have to do is be able to make it to class two days out the week for 3 hours, and then I'll be home relaxing and I do have 4 days to recuperate be4 I'm due in class . Some of my family members are telling me that's to much please give me yall opinions I would greatly appreciate it.

5 days out from vsg, I was still relying on the heavy pain meds to make it through the day and was napping daily. Assuming you have a textbook procedure, and that going to class doesn't involve a lot of physical movement and/or participation early on, it may work for you. Be aware you will be dead tired, like never before, and you're going to have to power through. I went back to work after 8 days, and I felt like I pushed it just because my mental sharpness was just not there. I had brain fog for the first 2 weeks solid. Not impossible though. Good luck to you in your journey!

No way do I see you going to class four days after surgery. You probably will have a very hard time moving and getting up and down.
You probably will be on pain meds and it's illegal to drive while using them. Plus no surgeon would let you drive that soon after surgery.
I had a text book surgery but had a hard time drinking and was in the hospital for four days. You never know what could happen. Most likely nothing but to be safe cancel your class until next semester.
I did that myself because I was in no shape to sit there for three hours.
Think which is more important taking care of your health or a class that will be there waiting for you.
Best of luck with your surgery.
