I have struggled with my weight for the majority of my life. I was at my heaviest, 290lbs two years ago. I managed to lose 65 pounds by myself by changing the way that I ate ( no sugar and no white flour). Last summer (August 2013) I was diagnosed with an H.Pylori infection. It is one of the most painful experiences you can go through with your stomach and intestines as it feels like everything is on fire all the time, plus there is stabbing pain, decreased appetite and high high doses of antibiotics to kill the bacteria. It took me 3 months to fully recover from it. During this time the only solid foods my body could handle and my Drs allowed me to eat were white flour foods, protein shakes , yogurt and applesauce. Unfortunately for me, my body turns white flour into sugar and soon enough I started regaining the weight. A cycle I had been through one too many times before. As I saw the scale going up in weight, I became depressed and unmotiviated and eventually gained back 30 pounds in the span of 8 months. I had tried many other diets throughout the years only to have this yo yo effect. It becomes quite frustrating. After researching Bariatric surgery for a few months, I decided to go to an informational meeting. Here I am, 2 months later, about 1/2 through my 4 month pre op process. I do not have a surgery date yet, but have been dieting again, have lost about 7 pounds, have started exercising more often, I am mostly walking and using a Fitbit with my sister and Mom to help myself be accountable for exercising. I am looking forward to the surgery, but am nervous as well. I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me. I am having the Rouen Y Bypass.
