  1. The Insurance Coordinator in the doc's office is out until tomorrow, but I left her a message. I mean, I'll have to just cancel surgery, and they won't make any money that way. I'm hoping she can do something. My insurance company was surprisingly pleasant. The rep I spoke with is going to appeal it for me, and they will need to contact the doc's office tomorrow as a part of that. So, maybe there's a smudge of hope after all.
  2. He did Lot of blood work - I couldn't even tell you it all without looking at the results thingy again. I just hate that it's out of network.
  3. I got my surgery date today - Nov. 3! They'd have gotten me in sooner - like in two weeks - but waiting until Nov.3 is better for my work and my family. Plus it gives me a little extra time to get prepared. I"M SO EXCITED! I'll do the pre-op diet for the 2 weeks before. I'm nervous, excited, anxious, worried, ..........you know.
  4. My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork to my insurance company on Tuesday. I just got off the phone with the lady from the insurance company - I've been approved for surgery! TWO DAYS FOR APPROVAL! I'm so glad - and now I'm nervous. Naturally. Info: Humana for KY state employees, BMI 41.3, age 46.
  5. Had my first appointment with the bariatric clinic today. Met the psychologist, nutritionist, nurse practitioner and had blood drawn for labs. Everything is a go so far. Next Tuesday, I'll have the EGD, chest x-rays and EKG. Later that afternoon, I'll visit my primary care doc to get his sign off on the medical clearance form thingy they gave me. Then the actual consult with the surgeon, and a couple weeks to wait while it's been submitted to insurance and ever how long it takes them to respond. So, probably surgery in mid- to late-October is realistic. I might even go for the Monday before Veterans Day in November. Give me a little extra time off before going back to work that way. Im excited it's within reach, but DANG I'm not a patient person and it's hrs to wait!
  6. Oh good grief! I seem to have a less than 2 lb variance, that's be some serious overkill. Plus I can't gains it wouldn't be obvious.
  7. I'm right on the cusp if having a BMI of 40. If they weigh me next Tuesday and I'm under, the ins can deny coverage. I have co-morbidities, but they are not severe enough. I've been weighing myself at home, and as expected, it fluctuates a bit from day to day. Generally I'm where I need to be, but sometimes I'm a little under. Any suggestions for making sure I weigh enough come Tuesday?
  8. Yeah, I'm trying to eat like a lumberjack, which just seems wrong! I though I might have a very salty meal the night before, for the Water retention. They do a lot of tests that day, so I can't eat after midnight.
  9. I can't wait. I've been thinking about this - literally - for years. I want the surgery tomorrow, and I don't. If that makes any sense. I am keeping a "what I'm looking forward to/what I won't miss" list. That, checking in here, and some thinspiration I've found online (pics of women about my height, at about my goal weight) keep me motivated.
  10. So, the doc's office called today and scheduled my first appointment. I turned in the packet of paperwork at the seminar thingy - including a statement from my insurance co on what they cover (way cool - I kept a copy, of course) - so this appointment will be an all-day festival of fun: Nurse Practioner Labs drawn Nutritionist Surgeon Psy eval and something else, I think, but I don't remember what they say. So - I'm wide open here - what should I know? What should I ask? What should I be worried about? Totally newbie here, so don't hold back!
  11. I'm not sure that friends that make you feel like you HAVE to have a drink are really friends. Eat what you choose. Drink what you choose. Why would a fried care if it's not alcohol?
  12. I'm hoping for November surgery - either just before Thanksgiving (so I use fewer sick days) or just before Veteran's Day (that's a paid holiday for me). But I gotta be honest - I go to the initial seminar thingy on Thursday. I am REALLY just beginning, and my hopes for a timeline might not be realistic. I do know that. But a girl can hope.

    OMG!

@@kitten22996 - I have Humana for state employees, too. Did they mention a 6 month prep period, or had you already done that?
  15. I've looked at it, but it seemed a bit expensive. Thredup.com sells used good clothing, might be a good source for smaller sizer.
