    Weight watchers

Hi I haven't been sleeved yet (hopefully soon!) but I was wondering if your surgeon has a support group that you could attend or if they have a dietitian that you could contact to help you with your plan?

    Is this the norm?

Last Tuesday I had my first consult with my surgeon and my psych eval. Today I finally called my patient advocate to see what was going on with my insurance: This is the way it breaks down. I have an $800 deductible. My surgery is 80% covered and it looks like at the end of it all I'll have an out of pocket expense of $1, 032. My insurance requires: Weight/BMI Dietitian Eval Psych Eval Blood work- appointment tomorrow mooring at 10am Upper GI Study- calling tomorrow to schedule it sleep Study Pre op kit- not sure what this all entails I wonder if I'll have to see the dietitian for an extended period of time? My patient advocate only mentioned the eval. What is a pre op kit? I'm getting anxious cause now I have to talk to the husband about all this... fingers crossed!

    Fitness tracker

I have a fitbit flex. It's the band style that counts your activity and sleep cycles! You can log your food intake, wt, Water etc on the app. The only thing I don't like about it is- it isn't able to calculate your weight lifting activities as it is a pedometer. So if you are like me and enjoy doing body pump it won't count that. But other than that I love it!!

    4 more months

I had mine on Tuesday. It was a breeze. He just talked to me about my food addiction, asked questions about why I wanted this surgery, asked if I thought it was going to be easy and what I planned on doing to keep myself on track post sx.

    So excited ????

Yay!! That's so exciting! I can't wait to be where you are. =)
  11. Actually when I told my husband that I was looking into getting the surgery that was his first response.. Have you actually tired dieting? What about exercising? I was like seriously you just asked me this?? Of course I've tried everything!! You just don't realize it (we were living apart for a little over a year). It's not like our first reaction is. Oh, darn it. I've gained weight. I best get my stomach cut out. Ugh. People are so judgey sometimes!

    Hi guys!

Hi everyone!! I just wanted to introduce myself that way I'm not a complete lurker/creeper! I just had my consult with my surgeon today. At first I was going for the lap band but after speaking with the surgeon I decided that this is the best way for me to go! I hope to find out more about my benefits tomorrow! I had my psych eval today and was cleared from him.. one hoop down many to go! Here's to meeting new people that are going through the same journey! Jamie.

    Hi guys!

I'm in south Texas- Laredo. So I'll end up having my surgery in San Antonio. I'm not looking forward to the 2 wk liquid diet. I'll be crunching on ice just to get the chewing sensation.

    Hi guys!

Oh my gosh that is so exciting!!! What is your pre op diet like? Are you also in Texas?

Hi Qt! That sounds great!! I look forward to getting to know you and hear about your journey!
  16. Hi everyone!! I am brand spanking new to the forums. I have recently decided to have WLS- specifically the LB just because I don't want to have part of my stomach removed that just sound so scary and totally permanent! I am attending my first seminar on Tuesday the 24th. Can anyone think of specific questions that I should ask during the seminar? What is the initial consult like? This is all new to me and I'm just curious what all will go down. Thanks!!

    Considering lap band surgery...

Oddly enough this is exactly what my surgeon told me today. Which got me worried about complications down the road. So I decided to have the VSG instead. I'll have to do some more research but I really think this is the best thing for me. I'm just waiting to hear from the insurance advocate to see what the damage will be. Prayers for the out of pocket expense not to be crazy high!!

That is awesome that he is now your biggest supporter! I think the key to any type of WL is having support!

    Considering lap band surgery...

The Icy One: My hubs just doesn't think that I am over weight. He asked if I really thought I needed it. I politely reminded him that I have tried just about every weight loss option out there, told him that I literally hate the way I look and pointed out that that was why he hasn't seen me naked in a while. It's not him totally me. I think once he knows I'm serious about it he will show a little more support. Hell the man supports me with any endeavor that I set out on. I really think he is just worried about the money aspect of it all.

    Considering lap band surgery...

I like the results the people with the VSG have but the surgery itself scares the tar outta me!! I will see what they say on Tuesday and go from there. Thank you all for your replies!

    Considering lap band surgery...

It's funny when I told him I was going to the seminar and was thinking about getting banded. He asked me if I tried. Whaaa?! Of course I've tried. I've been on pills, done Medi weightloss and been back on the pills! Exercised etc. I wanted to bop him. Lol but I calmly explained that yes I had tried, multiple times. I also told him how I'd been feeling about myself and why I wanted to go this route. He's normally very supportive but I think he's just happy with with the way I am and that's fine but I need to be happy with the way I am!!

    Considering lap band surgery...

Thanks for replying Arlene! I hope to get a lot of information at the seminar! My biggest concern at the moment is my husband he doesn't seem to want me to get it. He's not out right expressing it but giving off signals. Jamie
