ANYONE ELSE SERIOUSLY STRUGGLING??? Brief Stats: 61; lost a significant amount of weight with a gastric bypass almost 3 yrs ago, have kept it off but need to lose more; slight disability; never have had ANY support or connection from another WLS peer or support group; have joined several Facebook groups but I find them to be much too judgmental and quite impersonal; moved to a new state 2 years ago and have been looking for peer support but with no vehicle I am unable to attend the ONLY group I found way across town; CURRENTLY FRUSTRATED AND LOSING MOMENTUM Any suggestions for locating joint buddy support (not just a group) with someone who has at least as much WLS experience as myself (I would be a great buddy too) on this forum or any other location? Thanks In Advance -

Hey Ms. Fluff seems like you have been around this site for awhile, do you know of any strong support groups, buddies, accountability partners, etc. for RNY folks our age online? -

Generally speaking, what difficulties do you think we face having WLS at this age? If these pertain to you personally, what has been your solution? -

CONGRADS on your surgery! Keep sleeping, get your rest, you are healing! We are not as young and need more quiet time. Expect food to get stuck, some things you might not be able to eat for a long while. Tiny, tiny, tiny bites of very soft food and chew, chew, chew! -
I do Protein shakes as well, take my vits (received a great lab report yesterday), and drink my Water. I also went from a vegetarian to a vegan. Due to a handicap, I am unable to exercise much but I do what I can. In need of a strong support system which I why I am on this site :-). My keys to success - I haven't totally abandoned protein shakes (I usually drink at least 2 a day to get my protein in), trying to limit my carbs, and exercise (even if it's a 30 minute walk around the block). My active support systems - message boards (such as this one), a therapist, and I have at least 3 "real life" friends who have also had bariatric surgery. The last one is to NOT GIVE UP...Right now I'm fighting the battle to get below 200 pounds. I see you're also a little over a year post op. How has your experience been so far?

CONGRADS, wow you are almost at goal! What are the keys to your success? Do you have an active support system?

Hi Tori! I had my surgery a little over a year ago, my move to ATL was in May. I know no one here in the WLS community. CONGRADS on your surgery, how are you feeling? You may PM me if like.

Thanks, so much for the reply! How's your journey going? You may PM me if you like :-). Have a healthy day!

Very new to this state, Cobb County GA buddy here! I am working on building and participating in a new support system as well. PM me, lets chat! :-)

YES, I DID MAKE A DECISION TO CHANGE MY LIFE!!! YES, IT IS MY TIME TO SHINE!!! Thanks for mentioning Pastor Osteen, he of my favorites! I needed to be reminded of that this morning! Thanks for the support, I wish you well on your journey...take care...don't be a stranger. I haven't had surgery and my starting weight is lower, but I wanted to give you some words of encouragement. You did something wonderful for your life! This is your life to live. People are always going to have something negative to say. Let them talk. Let them say what they want. I'm sure you're doing great and probably better if you had a better support system. Don't give up! I don't know if you have heard of Joel Osteen but he has a radio station on Sirius and I started listening to him. There is a message he's constantly reiterating that I'd like to share with you: shake off the negativity, shake off the self doubt, this is your time to shine! Congratulations on your decision to save your life . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
