I haven't seen the video yet, but will...I did get pictures of my surgery, and let me tell ya, the doc can tell if you have followed your pre-op diet by the looks of your liver. I am sure glad I followed it, because a picture is worth a thousand words! I had him explain each picture today, and it was really interesting. Now, I'll check out the cool video!

Now you're talking about the 80's bands...love those! I just made my husband a CD full of Def Leppard, Quiet Riot, Loverboy, Judas Priest, etc....even my little 7 year old daughter likes it, when she's not jamming out to Hillary Duff! Also, I love the New Wave stuff- all of it. Music in general is a big love of mine, although we don't go to many concerts now...we just pick maybe one big one a year that we really want to see. Then we laugh at ourselves and others, and kid about people still smoking you-know-what and waving their canes in the air, and taking Celebrex because they boogied so much! We have a great time!

Ideas: What do you do for yourself at each goal?
mousecrazy replied to swirligirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for starting this thread...I've been giving this some thought, but haven't really made up my mind, so all the good ideas are helping me out! I enjoy some time alone to do my little hobbies, so maybe I'll ask hubby to take the DD out somewhere and give me some "me" time at home...yeah, that would be great...Spa treatments are fantastic, too, and I still have my mother's day gift certificates to a nice one. Let's hear some more ideas! Cindy -
My eyes are bigger than my band!
mousecrazy replied to giveyouthemoon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I only have today to judge by, because it's my first day of mushy food. I had 1/4 cup, or 1/6 of a Stouffer's spinach souffle, and my stomach hurts a little. I think it was about 2 Tablespoons, which took me about 10 bites to finish. Is that about right? I know I stopped in time to avoid being sick, but I felt a lot hungrier than that! I don't have a fill, either. Cindy -
Went to my dr. appt. today, and got the great news that I have lost 16 pounds since July 13 (consultation)! OMG! Now, I do expect that to taper off a little, of course, but it's a great jump start. AND, I am approved to go on to the mushy food, since I have done well on full liquids and have had no nausea. So I tested it gently with Cup-a-Soup, cream of chicken for lunch. I am really looking forward to Stouffer's spinach souffle for dinner. So, all steristrips are off, the port is where it should be, I'm moving along, and I'M SOOOO HAPPY! I just want to thank all of you who have made this beginning of the journey so much more fun and so much easier! I want to hear from other newbie banders, and find out how they are doing, too! Cindy:D

Protein Shake tastes like card board!!
mousecrazy replied to MsButterKup23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not tried Myocel, but I have used Body for Life (chocolate fudge), Adkins (chocolate, and from this site I found out about Unjury, which is powdered protein...they have several flavors, but I am sold on the unflavored...I have mixed it in Gatorade, broth and yes, coffee, and I swear you cannot taste it at all! I ordered it on the internet. I also went to The Vitamin Shoppe, and those guys there were well-informed on the need of gastric surgery patients and had some good suggestion, too. Keep looking! Hi! It's hard to tell you what to do, but if you keep reading on here, and read the stories of success, difficulties, and everything, no holds barred...I think you will find that lapband surgery is very successful, although not the magic bullet. Your head still plays into the equation. That BMI sounds huge to you, I know...I had BMI of 45 myself. I never loved the term morbidly obese as much as I have in the last few weeks...because that got my surgery covered by insurance! Keep looking into it, read all you can, and you can count on the people here for answers and support. Good luck, Cindy

Blessings to you, your husband and the new little person on the way!

Nothing remarkable about the surgery...it went like clockwork, and I was on my way home by 11:30 or so. :knockedou I agree with others that the gas pain is by far the most uncomfortable...I mean, painful! So, it's Sunday, and I can sit up and type a little, but still very sore, and tired. I'm not too big of a weenie most of the time, so I'm soldiering on. I have had 1/8 c. applesauce, and 1/2 container yogurt. Between, liquid protein drink, about 2 oz at a time, and water. Pain meds, of course. And Gaviscon. The most I have been able to sleep at a time is about 3 hours. All of this sounds about normal, right? I keep telling myself that every day will be better, and kinda go with the flow. Just wanted to update you on the surgery and recovery so far, and say thanks for the encouragement and wisdom! Cindy

whats your secret wish or fantasy?
mousecrazy replied to FRECKLES3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You must be a long lost twin sister, Piercedqt78! I am so crazy (mousecrazy) about Disney World...I've only been twice, but lucky enough to stay from 8-10 days each time. Reading your post made me flashback to last Christmas when my whole entire family was there(I have posted pictures in the picture thread)...if our dreams do ever come true, I'll meet you at the Floridian! Or the Animal Kingdom resort, or Wilderness Lodge (one of my favorites!).....but would you ride a few of the fun rides? After hubby time, of course! -

whats your secret wish or fantasy?
mousecrazy replied to FRECKLES3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well now, girls! Naughty, naughty. I have apparently turned in to such a total square that none of these things have even crossed my mind...or maybe it's just because I've still got steri-stips, bruises, etc. I want to be able to just plop down in an airline seat, and have room to spare in the seatbelt! I want to shop in "normal" stores. These may not seem like fantasy to some, but it does to me! Okay, I'll admit I'd like to wear some hot clothes, too....but leather is so hot, you know? And corsets are tight. Oh! I know! I want someone to turn me in to "What Not to Wear" and get a whole new wardrobe! Now THAT would be a great time...I don't mind if they make fun of my old clothes if I get a big shopping spree! -
Congratulations, and good luck! Stay cool, girl. It will be over and you'll be home in no time. My only suggestion is get prepared for those gas pains...they are not like any gas pains I've ever experienced in the land of spicy food and pizza...more of an internal pain. Have a heating pad and Gas-X or like substance. Tough it out for a couple of days, then each day will be much, much, better. Be strong! Give us an update when you're ready!

Oops, Tammy, I forgot your question. I am taking liquid Gaviscon. I understand some people have had trouble with it, but I haven't. Thank goodness!
-
EVeryone heals differently, so just go with your own flow...gosh, I sound like Crush in Finding Nemo. Bicycle?! I can't even imagine, and I was banded on Friday. Here I was proud of myself for walking around the house and doing a little laundry! Hope you feel better soon, Cindy
-
Thanks, DeLarla! I'm feeling lots better today! Unfortunately, also starting to feel hungry...more protein drink, I know, I know....
-
Hey, I just realized you were in Texas! We have the same band days, too! Glad to hear you're up and on the mend! Cindy

Leatha, I thought the same exact thing, but on my dr.'s post-op diet plan, it says liquid diet, then lists appropriate foods, and in that list is yogurt, applesauce and jello. I asked about that a coupld of times, and was told it was okay. So, I guess it has been for me, (so far, don't want to tempt fate) but I chew even yogurt, and go really, really slow. I've had gas pain, but no nausea or PBs or anything like that. I'm not rushing, I hope!

She is adorable, and that is a great photograph. Great colors that all work well together. I just LOVE pictures! Cindy
