If I eat too much, my left side will hurt, but that is where my port is, so I figured it was just the pressure of the food in the abdomen pushes on the abdominal wall where the port is stiched in place....it seemed to make sense to me. LOL! Just a made-up theory. Cindy

Good morning! DH is off to church with DD, for early service, and I'm SUPPOSED to be wrapping gifts or something productive, but here I am hanging out with you, drinking some coffee! I can only imagine the wireless laptop making matters worse...or is that BETTER! LOL! Hi Sherry! Let us know who makes those liquid protein add-ins! That sounds great! I had a very nice dinner last night at Master Grill...it's like a Texas de Brazil, if you've heard of that...a Brazilian Churrascurria (sp?), where they bring meat around on skewers? Very band friendly, they charge bandsters child plate prices. I had a lamb chop and some bites of other beef, different kinds. Salad bar, with smoked salmon and shrimp. I had a little slice of the salmon, and one shrimp! Doesn't that sound ridiculous? I could eat 2 pounds of shrimp, easily, before banding! Three or four lamb chops would be normal, along with lots of filet mignon, sirloin, etc...It is so amazing to notice the difference! I'm still full! I think there's a Cowboy game on today, and there's plenty of things to do, so let's get after it, everyone! Love ya, Cindy

Good afternoon, my friends! I didn't check in last night because....ya'll won't believe this....I was out buying a LAPTOP! AND, a wireless router/access point to have a home network, so all the 'puters can get internet. Can you believe it?! I was just working, as usual, when I got an email from DH saying, "It's time to get your laptop and wireless network stuff." Just like that. I got a Toshiba Satellite notebook and the other stuff, plus a software package for Students/Teachers that will install Word on the other two computers. That's what I use at school. DH says I will make a fortune writing a book...LOL! I want to, but don't know what about...probably not fiction, like Beanie. Anyway, they'd miss me if I was out on a book tour! ROFLMAO! Still, I'm so pumped about the laptop! I tried to set up the wireless network, and got about half way and threw in the towel. I work with a wizard, so he and his wizard-in-training son are coming Wednesday to get it all going....and get this: his son charges $10/hour! What a deal! Tonight we are going out to dinner for DH's birthday...tomorrow, church all morning (DD is playing chimes). Then some Rice Krispie treat making for my kids at school for Monday. We are also trying to square away the clutter (ha! it sounds better than "complete disaster"!) in the living room/kitchen, which is all one big open room. Betty, I hope you enjoyed your peaceful moment, and have a good time at the party! Patty, we see eye-to-eye on the respect issue...there is certainly a general lack of that, these days, in all sorts of arenas. Glad you love your haircut! That's so important! Eileen, maybe you can get a little nap? I know, I know, it's impossible, but fun to think about! Lisa, take care of yourself...it will get better! Dianne, post pictures of the puppy when you can! Beanie? Check in with us, we're glad you are home! Pat, I hope your holiday prep is going well...I'm sure everything looks gorgeous! Everyone else...have a great evening! Cindy

WOW! You look great! I am getting excited about making it to 207, as good as you look! Thanks for posting the pictures attached to a weight; it really helps me visualize! Congratulations! Cindy

Lisa! My Bichon had an affair with the mini-schnauzer down the block last year at this time, and had her puppies in Feb. We kept one of them, Mickey, and he "is" a mini-schnauzer...he is black and white, although the dad was the normal silver/tan. He is the cutest! Congratulations! We have a Bichon, an Airedale, and our little mixed mini-schnauzer, and I think he is the "cutest." Of course, they are all adorable in their own way! Eileen, We have class next Mon. and Tues., then we are off until Jan 3. We have not done any baking at all, yet! We'll get to it in the next several days, I imagine. We will absolutely do sugar cookie cutouts and decorate them...my nephew, DD, and I always are in charge of that project for the whole family. We have fun. Beanie, hope you travelled safely, and return to us quickly! gotta run, swamped, kids everwhere! cindy

Welcome to LBT! You found a great place for learning, getting support, and even giving support! We have both Banded and non-banded people here, and love all of them! Use the search feature to find topics of your interest, and start reading and reading! Post anytime! Cindy -
Yes, I do not want to be severly restricted. I have had two fills, and this one is just about right for me, or so I think right now. Do this on your terms, you know what I mean? Do what's right for you today, and if it's the same for tomorrow, fine. If not, figure it out and do what's right for you then. Baby steps, baby steps. Feel you way through it. Just wanted you to know I understand. Cindy

Dang! Bell, you rock! That is fantastic! Pamstransky, I think you're doing really good...remember, it's the big picture we're trying to focus in on! Seppi, great job! Anybody else out there want to report? PinkMary? How about you?

Pat, MMmm, those poinsettia drinks sound wonderful! (If I still drank....oh, well). I love wrapping presents, if you have all day! I do enjoy it, and have always liked doing it, it just always ends up being such a rush. Have fun! What about that XBOX? I'm going to have to get in a Red Hat group around here! I can't just be flying up to Virginia all the time! I loved the picture of you gson...I just want to kiss those cheeks! I'm typing fast, because, as a matter of fact, I need to go help DD put bows on the 10 packages she is taking to school. They each bring a present for each of their classmates....the beauty of a small class! Wishing you a holly, jolly time! Cindy

Welcome me to bandland!! trouble w/liquid intake

Lisa, I didn't like Isopure either...it's just a matter of taste, I know, because others really like it. I had chicken broth, and I cooled it and added unflavored Unjury protein powder. Sugar free popsicles were good. I drank Propel and Gatorade. You're right, it took all day to sip down a bottle. Some days, I took half a day to drinka protein drink, 2 oz. at a time, just like a newborn! LapBand boot camp, I tell you! It's worth it, hang in there1 Cindy ((hug)) -
My banding is tomorrow 12/14/05!!!!!

I hope you know you are not alone in the "crazy" behavior...I bet you'll hear from a lot of people who understand. I do. This may not make sense to anyone but me, but what I've tried to do to help myself with my "head-band" is to think, "What would a normal eater do? How would normal person handle this situation?" I know there's a lot of versions of "normal" but, for me, this helps put eating into a different perspective. I am tired of this or that food being the enemy, and I want to see food as both fuel and pleasure, but not an emotional "fix". As I increased my fill, I found it lesspossible to eat like crazy...I can eat the wrong things, but only just so much. As I continue to work on all these issues of food and emtion, I et better and better at it, and it becomes, then, easier and easier. You are not alone, so don't beat yourself up. Just make a little change in what you are doing, and stick to that for a while. It will get better. Good luck, Cindy

Wheetsie, I'm gonna tell that joke to my kids tomorrow. I bet they'll laugh!

I MEANT "moratoriuM"! I hate typos!

Thanks for the support...I had never thought about it Ira's terms of firing up the metabolism! That's a great way to look at it! LOL! I know, Betty, I don't post on some threads for those reasons. I also thought it was just a funny, haha, but as it went it got less funny (to me). it just seems to me that if we can post about sex toys and stuff, we can also post about faith and values. I think I'm just being perverse. I know cookies and milk would help, and YOUR cookies in particular, Betty. Lisa, hang in there, honey. You can do this. Let us know if we can help. Rest, sip, and walk. In moderation, of course! (Darn it!) I have been wanting to post some pictures....well, I mean TAKE some pictures to post (ha!), but I just don't have it together. I still have my good intentions, though. Now, where's my maid? My house is a total disaster. I like Patty's idea that no one will remember the clutter, just the memories. but what if you live in a virtual Ebay warehouse? We even built an extra building to hold all the stuff. I swear I'm not kidding. So, I think there's gonna have to be an Ebay moratorius from this weekend until Christmas, so some of the stuff listed is out of the house! Thanks for listening....I LOVE your Christmas ducks, Betty!

Thanks guys! I probably shouldn't have even posted, but as a Sagittarian, I'm driven by fairness/justice, and I hate to see someone go undefended. It's a good quality in a friend, but misunderstood at times. Thanks for accepting my post. Cindy

Hi, everyone! I'm so glad you are all here, and I can come running here for cover when I need to! Why, you ask? Well, I tried to resist posting on the "Presidential Library lost" thread, but I did. I actually resisted yesterday and last night, but today, in my quest for fairness and justice, I found myself posting an opposing opinion. Now, I'll get lambasted (sp?) for sure! Do you think I was right or wrong to post the opposing viewpoint? Ya'll know me pretty well...and do you have an opinion of political postings in general? Me, I'd rather not discuss politics on this board, because disagreements over that can affect the support available for each other. I confess, I do have strong opinions and viewpoints, and I am conservative in nature. So, will you advise me, please? How badly did I goof up? I probably should have just ignored it....urrggghh! The "Lose 10 pounds free" card is just an imaginary card, like you would find in Monopoly. I told Patty she deserved one because she is doing such a great job juggling all her responsibilites, and with a good attitude to boot! Betty, where do you live again? I know it's up here in North Texas somewhere. I just feel like I should come by and help you out with all those cookies! LOl! I've gotta go right now, but I am truly interested in your opinions about the above-mentioned post/ and the subject in general. I don't mind being told I'm off-base, so tell me the truth. Love ya, Cindy

Will everyone be tolerant if I start another political thread making fun of Democrats and liberals? Just checking. I remember another thread discussing the President and the effects of Katrina, and that got pretty heated, mainly because someone disagreed with the conclusions stated in the beginning of that thread...I was in on that thread because I felt that if someone posted on a controversial subject, both sides deserved to be heard. I feel the same about this one...I can understand joking around, but please do not be outraged that others do not agree. Yes, there are members of this board who support President Bush for his policies and leadership. No, I do not think he is an idiot. I really hope that posts on politics will not affect the level of support and comaraderie we find here at LBT. Some people do get very emotional on the subject.

First of all, I wish you the best in your surgery and healing. It is a big decision. Just know that all of us made that decision (well, almost all of us!). I sure understand your reflections on food. Food is both a pleasure and a necessity, which makes it confusing sometimes. I just want to encourage you to know that food will and can be (still) a pleasure. I still love the same foods, they still have appeal to me emotionally...the smells, the associations. After 5 months, I find that I actually enjoy food more. I eat much less of it, so I really savor what I do eat. I don't eat the filler part of a meal...all the potatoes and bread and rice. I do eat these things sometimes, but not regularly, because I concentrate on the protein first. If I am really wanting some bread, I will eat some. I am satisfied with just a portion, not a whole roll...especially not 4 or 5! Each of us has discovered foods that will and won't work with our bands...it is individual. Don't be sad about giving up the importance of food or the atmosphere of food. You will still have the healthy part of that. I wish you well. Cindy

Thanks for posting! Glad you made it through okay. Now, concentrate on healing, especially on the inside! Take care of yourself, and welcome to the other side! Cindy

I can help, there, Delarla...OT is "Off Topic". Not "off-color", so don't get so excited! LOL! Wheetsin, I just wouldn't have participated. First of all, the situation is self-made, I would feel no obligation to support it, and wouldn't be rude, just say no thanks. Secondly, the ones who sent you a bullying email do not require a response, at all. You were basically strong-armed. Most people would consider it inappropriate to have a baby shower for someone's 6th child...especially in the circumstance you describe. I think a box of condoms might be appropriate, however. Does she know what is causing these babies??!!! I feel sorry for the children, that's for sure. How does she have TIME to make a 6th child, for goodness sake! It just makes me wonder....Where are the 5 kids while she is working? Not that it's any of my business....I just have an inquiring mind. Cindy

Just keep reading, read all you can. When you do, you will see that each person is just a little bit different, and all of us are alot alike. The gas pains in your shoulder will go away, but it takes a while...I had some pain for maybe 1 1/2 weeks. All you need to think about now is healing well. Period. Don't panic over your rate of weight loss; it's too soon. Heal up, get a fill, try that out for awhile. It is a process, and it doesn't "stop." I have been very happy with my band. I also had moments in time where my weight had to adjust, and the scale didn't move. I have learned to accept the flow and patterns, and find them interesting, but not totally frustrating. Start thinking long-term. Take the time to heal and read and learn. This is a great place to do it! Cindy

Welcome! This is such a great place...read up on everything, and ask all your questions! We're happy you are here! Cindy
