From huge dissapointment to victory
mousecrazy replied to sunshinenh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To all of you who thought you were getting a fill and didn't: look at it as another learning experience. You will be thankful for it later. It IS hard to learn this new way of eating and living life. But you will; it takes time. After some time has passed, you'll learn to trust your new tool; and know if you are slow, it's okay. Probably you'll find that you are slow sometimes and fast others, and maybe you'll even learn to love it when you hear your stomach growl! Hugs to all of you! Cindy -
Congratulations! REst and sip, rest and sip. It's great to see all the new members around here these days! Talk about New Year's Resolutions! Keep posting and take care of yourself (or the other way around?) Cindy

Eileen...I"m sorry you were disappointed on your fill. I remember thinking it would be easier, too...but I've had periods of struggle throughout. Not long, and not excrutiating, but enough that I had to actually think about what I was doing and what I was eating. Hopefully posting our meals will hlep you out that way. If you are still really struggling after a couple of weeks, ask him again. On the other hand, it sounds like he is truly looking after your best interests; so that ought to be reassuring. Betty, I'm sitting here crossing my fingers for you and that job search! HOpefully, the companies have their new budget for 2006 and there's enough money for you! Doc, you just hang in there, girl. You're getting closer everyday! Be sure to buy Sugar-free popsicles! But don't pack them because they'll melt! Patty, that package thing is fishy. I'm very envious that you have annual passes to anywhere Disney! I forgot to tell you all a cool NSV. Yesterday, I needed a brown shirt to go under a vest...and hanging in the closet was an XL. IT FIT! Not all XL's fit, but that even one in the universe did, well, that's an NSV, I don't care who you are! (Okay, I stole that last part from Larry the Cable Guy). It was so cool. Just got back from Sam's and bought my big supply of Zone Perfect Fudge Graham bars...they are so good I feel like I'm eating something that's not good for me! That's why I like them. Even if I pig out and eat 2 of them (not often, but I've done it), at least I'm getting 16g of protein in each one. Pat, I guess Wednesday's are pretty tiring...I just figured you were in you new car, jamming out on the stereo! OH Eileen - I'm not working for Starbucks...I just went to a meeting there! Although the tips do sound pretty good.....I had Peppermint Mocha, non-fat, no whip...so it wasn't great, but it wasn't damning! More later, check in everyone! Cindy

YOu showed up at a good time, Monymo! We've had several members experience some problems and complications lately, so it is really great to hear from someone who is 4 years out! Thanks for joining! Cindy

Hi, Dar! I just want to say hi and welcome you! EVeryone else has already given you some good starting points. See ya on the boards! Cindy

Thankfully, we know each other pretty well, and can tell when something is fishy. I would be very careful about posting something on a public forum that could be traced back to me and for which I could be sued.

I'm thinking about you, Eileen! Have you had "the fill" yet? I hope it went easy for you! It's Friday!!!!!! I tell you, these short weeks are the hardest weeks. I (oops!) volunteered to be on this little committee at school, so we whined until the principal let us have our meeting at Starbucks instead of at school! Sometimes, us school marms can overpower the giant! After all, who would want a bunch of feisty teachers looking for ways to get revenge? Believe me, it wouldn't be a pretty scene. LOL! Beanie, I bet you would be a prefectly wonderful elementary teacher...something those test don't know is that some people, like you, are smart enough to adjust your communication level to those with whom you are communicating....it's not really rocket science. And, perhaps that test doesn't know the level high school kids communicate on these days, anyway. I swear, sometimes I just ask them if we have spun back in time to 4th grade or what? (Time warps do exist...just come to my class!) Doc, I want to reassure you that you are thinking and acting in a perfectly normal way before making a life-affirming (some say "changing") decision like lapband surgery. You are right to reflect on the meaning of food, and you are right to "mourn" it. This process continues, even after surgery. With God's help, your inner wisdom, and some great support from here, you will get through all the issues. Just keep trying. You are going to be okay. Patty, sorry about your fall...I think the worst thing about falling like that is just the feeling you get that you are such a goof! Then, you have to suffer the indignity of stiff knees, and walking like you are 90! I hope you get better soon! Have you called the doctor yet? Please do, if you haven't already. No need to fret over stuff like that, when you can see if there was an error, and if not, deal with the issue. Well, I've only had time to come to LBT during school, and have been too busy when I get home in the evening, but it's a weekend now, so I'll have some more time. I forgot to say, "Hook'em Horns!" and "Texas #1!" I went to UT for 2 of my years of college....great game, right, Betty? Gotta run, hugs, Cindy

My dr. waited 4 weeks, and it didn't hurt. Cindy P.S. Everyone is different on their toleration of any kind of discomfort/pain, and all the people who do the fills are different in their skill level, too.

Jan. 5, 2005 B: coffee (that's every single day, so I'm not gonna list it each day) L: chicken, 1/4 mashed potatoes, 1/4 green Beans, and a bite of bread, but the ol' band said nope. D: taco, cheese enchilada, beef enchilada and chips...I can't believe I ate the whole thing. Water:48 oz Exercise: None, again Exercise: took vitamin/calcium -
What do you do to satisfy your "head hunger"?
mousecrazy replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I try to distract myself. If that doesn't work, I drink water. If that doesn't work, I figure I better have a little of it. Otherwise, I'll do some other crazy thing like eat way too much the next time I eat or something...I'm weird. Cindy -

They don't even bother with the numbing...and it's okay! I was really nervous beforehand, but I swear...she was in and done before I could say, "Ready or not!" I know there have been some other bad experiences reported, but mine was easy peasy, both times!

How much can you consume after surgery?
mousecrazy replied to lildarlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If I remember correctly, I put my protein drink in a bottle marked with oz's and a lid on it. I remember being able to drink either 2 or 4 oz at a time right a first. It really doesn't matter, though; listen to your own body, and learn how to "read" it. We're all a little different. -
My turn front & center...
mousecrazy replied to JanetC's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Janet! I live in Sanger, so we're not too far from each other. Glad you are here, be sure to ask lots of questions, and spend some time with the "search" feature! Cindy -
Anne, that is TOO funny! You HAVE uncovered the secret plot...make a note of what to buy for next Christmas...you SIL will know immediately that you're on to her evil scheme! LOL! I like your goal of being in "onederland" by April. Dare I even hope for that? I"ll be watching you, though! Beanie - I guess the first of the year is a big rat race for you! Take time for yourself, okay? Pat - I like your idea about the clothing...but I will also be more than happy to talk with you about selling clothes on Ebay. There's more than one approach; you can decide what sounds right for you and what you're selling. Eileen, hope you have lots of sunshine! Sherry, We're sorta over the playdough stage in my house, now it's electronics and still Barbies (that girl is high maintenance...have you seen her shoe closet?!) Gotta go, it's lunch time, and I'm on a strict schedule! Remember those days? Hugs, Cindy

Jessiebear's complete list of NSVs...
mousecrazy replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your favorite NSV and mine are similar...my daughter got her arms all the way around and then some! Thank you for posting your NSV's! I think they are really inspiring! Cindy -
I've heard that it (crossing legs) causes or worsens varicose veins. Margo! I'm very happy for you! Way to go! Cindy

Hi, everyone! Well, the kids are back, and I think I"m getting dizzy handling all these things at once. It's like always, but I'm not used to juggling quite so fast, since we've been on vacation...I'll soon get my "sea legs" under me! Love seeing the kids again! Well, most of them.... Eileen, I have been telling the kids that I plan to retire in Dec. 2006. In their heads, a year , a loooooooonnnnnnnggggg time from now, so they are not sure it will affect them. Some of the kids I've had for a long time (2-3 years), are trying hard to graduate before this date! I make 'em feel bad by saying, "You're gonna be here after I retire!" Hey, it works. Pat, you ARE evil ( in the same way I am, LOL!)! Playdough is a pain! Something I used to do for my nephew, is give him things like electronic drums, and other noisy items...all in love, of course! I know you understand me, girl! Betty, no prob about the cookies...I TOTALLY understand! I"m trying to avoid them myself! Curiously, stuff like that does not hold the appeal it once did...don't know why, but I'm glad about it! To all, I love keeping up with you, even though I don't always address everyone by name! Beanie, thanks for posting, we miss you! Back to work, Cindy

I'm at .7cc in a 4cc band. I think you'll see after everyone posts, how individual it is. Cindy

Welcome back! Glad to hear what you've been up to, and sorry it wasn't anything pleasant...come here for laughs and support anytime! Cindy

Weight loss, even the relatively small amount I have lost so far, has dramatically changed my view on how I take care of myself...I do a much better job of taking care of me. That leads to more confidance, and some have told me I am more outspoken (as if that is even possible!) I think they mean that I am less likely to accept bad behavior toward me...I've always been out spoken. I'd say that sums up all the little changes into one big nutshell! Thanks for asking, John, and blessings to you! Cindy
-
Welcome Doc, we just kinda hang out here and visit...congrats on your upcoming surgery! We'll gladly fill in the details for you on anything you want to know, and you can learn stuff now by using the Search feature across the top, underneath the banner. Hang out with us anytime! Yes, I oversee the selling of DD's Girl Scout cookies...I will be happy to mail them to anyone who is brave enough to have them nearby! YOu can PM me, and I will work with you from there. Do not feel obligated to order; I certainly understand the pitfalls of Girl Scout cookies! So, Anne and Betty, I'll just put the ball on your side of the court. Betty, I might even be tempted to meet you somewhere to deliver them! Now, honestly, I must get myself to the bed! Hugs to all, Cindy

January's Eatery and Exercise Journal.... Come One Come All!!
mousecrazy replied to NJChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jan. 3, 2006 B: coffee w/ coffeemate, Zone Perfect bar S: 1 slice (homemade) cranberry orange walnut bread (I made it!) L: Zone Perfect bar S: 2 Hersey's Dark Chocolate (the tiny bars) D: chef salad, ranch dressing, I ate the egg, the turkey and ham, and some of the lettuce, one wedge of tomato. Water (and iced tea): 50 oz Exercise: sigh, again...I have a real problem with getting the time! I took both my multi vitamin and my calcium. -
Hi, everyone! It's late in CindyWorld, and I don't have time to go on and on (do I hear cheers of joy?) LOL! I am sitting at the table assisting DD with her homework, picture me as a lion tamer with a whip, going "Sit! Sit!" LOL! (No animals were harmed in crafting this description). We just had meetings all day...long, frustrating meetings. But in the afternoon, I had about an hour of time to do stuff before the kids return tomorrow. Then, picked up DD, went to eat, and took her back to school for Girl Scouts. It's time to sell cookies! Yea! Pat, I was just kidding you about having to put up Texas Santa...I knew you liked the guy, and didn't mind him hanging out with you a little while longer! Sometimes my sarcastic wit just doesn't translate well into email language. I'll keep trying, though, because I can barely talk without being sarcastic...LOL! For the uncomfortable bike seat problem, can you find a sheepskin cover for the seat? Once upon a time, I had an exercise bike, and used it! I got a sheepsking cover, and it did help, but doesn't completely take the pressure off. Maybe you can use the bike as a clothes hook? That's what I did. LOL! I guess I'm in a kidding-around mood tonight, or maybe it's because the car door slammed on my head before the Girl Scout meeting? If I'm lucky, I"ll sleep well tonight. Glad to hear most of you are staying away from and slaying the holiday sugar dragon...I did have a couple of those tiny Hersey Dark Chocolate bars, but it was necessary to survive the meeting. Good night, everyone stay strong! Cindy
