    July Chat For NJ

Sherry, ya know something else I remember reading about, when the band is too tight it is sometimes hard to lose weight...I don't really understand it all that well, but I remember reading a discussion. Maybe Mandy remembers, or Betty...or you can search for that. I hope you get things sorted out and feel better fast! Like you, I'm still hovering at the onderland border...but I consider it a victory to be there still, after a cruise! Kat, I will pray for Kinsey and that everything will be fine with her. I'm sure her doctors will find the problem and fix it, I just hope it will be with very little pain. Nothing going on here...I think that's great! Hugs to all, Cindy

    July Chat For NJ

Here you are! I'm a little slow to catch on to the month of July, it appears! Ya know, give me a couple of days, and I'll figure it out... Betty, I do wish you luck on the pool, but I think it's gonna take more than luck. I thought I saw rain in the forecast for the next several days...on the other hand, if it's raining on the Fourth, no one's gonna need to pool anyway! Kat, your parent's anniversary was a real success, and you should be proud (if not exhausted!) with how it turned out. Enjoy your parent's special time! I'm sure you did, as did everyone in the family...and I, for one, enjoyed your "obsessing"...it was fun hearing about all the plans! Sherry, I hope your tattoo is turning out great, and yours, too, Mandy...It's odd I've never had a tattoo, as many other rebellious things as I've done. I'm just a big weanie. Not that you gals are rebellious...but a tattoo in my family would certainly be seen as a rebellious gesture! But that's just my family.... Let's see, today DD started her musical theatre workshop, and I met with a lady from the parent assoc. at DD's school...other than that, more laundry, and some straightening up. Looks like more rain is on the way, too...and we already had rain this morning. My sister and I are making some plans to sleepover and play games and stuff at dad's this weekend since it marks both my mom's birthday and two year's since she passed away. Wow. Wonder why it seems both so long ago, and just yesterday? That's all that's going on in the mouse house....glad I figured out it was July! Hugs, Cindy
  3. We were talking about this in another thread somewhere, so I looked at different websites, and jeez! They were wanting $50 t0 $70 dollars for the cute ones! In stainless steel. I don't even want to talk about the gold ones. Sooooo, I ordered just the tag ($10). I went to the craft store and got some lobster claw clasps, some beading wire and some stretchy plastic, already had some cool beads (husband collected them for a while) and made my own cool bracelets! They have a lobster claw on each end, so they will clip onto the tag on both sides. Once you figure out what you want on them, it doesn't take long, but I suggest you read about how to fasten the clasps on, so they will stay fastened. I just bought a beading instruction book at the same craft store. I do think it would be a good idea to wear one, but if you are discreet about your surgery, then I don't know what you would do. I'm kinda boastful about having a lapband, so it doesn't bother me to flaunt a pretty bracelet! Thought someone might get inspiration from this idea. Cindy

Hello all! Mandy, I think I would check around, too. If you are having misgivings about the office or the doctor, or her process, then you owe it to yourself to get another approach. Your gut feelings have been pretty correct all along, so you should trust yourself. Thanks for the hand-holding, Betty and Mandy. I do believe that what goes around, comes around, and I believe that you reap what you sow. (That is basically the same thing). I am just finding it difficult to work through the anger part to get to an acceptance that someone who I thought cared, truly doesn't. AND this situation happened on both sides of my family. It just kind of shakes up your perspective of what you always thought was true...and isn't. I'm a realist, though, and will come to terms with it, and I think one thing I am going to do is give part of what I do get back to my grandma's church in her name. My sister and I talked about that, and thought grandma would like it, and it would help the people in her town to know that we love grandma and honor what was important to her. My aunt can live there and have her $$ and her house, but she will never have the respect of the people like grandma did. Today, I am taking DD to pick up her new, snazzy glasses, going to a produce stand and choosing some fresh stuff to cook tonite for dinner, and then she has her voice lessons. I'll check back later, hope everyone has a great Friday! Cindy
  5. Isn't the issue more about who should do the funding, not if it should be done? Didn't the veto indicate that federal funds could not be used, but the $$$-rich pharmaceutical companies are free to conduct research using their own funding? If this is incorrect, I'm sure someone will set it straight.

More rain here. Boy, I'm glad DH chose a lot up on a little hill! Our backyard is pretty soggy, though, and when the dogs come in, they are wet! It stormed again last night, and there is more rain in the forecast! We don't really have any big plans for the weekend...I've been fighting off a cold and just going on low energy, so even though I should be cleaning something, I'm not! Bad girl. I think I used up a lot of vim and vigor with VBS and vacation! LOL! That doesn't mean I can't get DD to clean her room, though, does it???? See ya'll later!

Eileen, as usual, you summed it all up just perfectly! Look at what we've all accomplished in the last couple of years, just in one area of our lives...and some of us have done soooo much more! I am in awe of what incredible woman are together here on this thread, and grateful to know you all! And thanks for the compliments...imagine me with cosmetics and a curling iron! LOL! Hugs, Cindy

Can't go to bed without saying to you, Kat, that you are very courageous to share your story. The whole experience was heart-breaking, and I was just reading it, not living it. Yet, by sharing these stories, we help others, and that must be the reason we go through these terribly difficult times...if we can't use them to help others, then what is the point? God is certainly working here through you, and you've been a blessing to all of us. Big hugs, and blessings to you! Cindy

Mandy is a very wise woman, Dianne. Grief is a very personal thing, and your experience will not be your sister's. Be there for her and love her. Let her work out all her feelings. Some of her grief may actually be grief at what she wished was, but never was...at dreams and hopes never realized. Much grief is about dying dreams, and perhaps she does realize more than she is saying. I am sorry for you that you are getting the rawness of it, but on the other hand, she feels you are safe and can handle it. Be strong. You can handle it. I'm not trying to be too tough on you, Dianne, but just encouraging you to be able to handle this for her right now, until she is better able to handle it for herself. Hugs to you, sweetie...turn to your faith.

Thank you SOOOOOO much, Sherry! It's about time I had a new avatar, and I do like the smile in this one! It's also kinda funny that there's a Dole Whip float straw showing in it...but only WE will know that! Thanks again!

Hi, Eileen! I know you'll be carefull with your fills...I'm just over-protective! And I appreciate the compliments on the vacation pics, too! Sherry, if you can figure out a good avatar from any of these newer pics, I'd sure appreciate it! You can email it to me; I think you have it. If not, let me know, and I'll PM it to you. Kat, your party plans sound so great! I hope you relax on the 4th. We usually do some kind of cookout for the fathers, and do sparklers or something. We haven't even talked about it! Just finished cooking dinner, and am ready to hang out with my little laptop friend here...hope all is well with all of you! Hugs, Cindy

This is DD, nephew and I at the Polynesian, posing in front of the Tiki god guy in front of the gift shop. You can see our t-shirts. On the back it says, "What are you going to do now? Go to Disney World!"

Hopefully, this is a picture of me, DD, and nephew in front of the Wonder, docked at Castaway Cay. If this worked, I'll try to post another, with us in our t-shirts!

Yes, Mandy, I had a Dole Whip float, but I don't know what a Kaki Gori is! Is it from the Japan pavilion???? I saw the stage show at MK from far away, so I don't if the eyes moved or anything. We were standing in front of the Crystal Palace waiting for our table. I thought of you a LOT while I was there, and Patty, too! I wondered what things you liked the best...we reallly love Disney Quest! We had a blast doing Pirates of the Caribbean there, where you get to pretend you are on a ship and are shooting canons at the pirate ships; it's so much fun! We did get a "dream" from the Year of a Million Dreams dream squad...we were walking away from Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom, going toward the new Nemo show, when a Dream Squad member stopped us. She loved our t-shirts! So, we got VIP seating at the next Nemo show! We didn't have to wait in line, and we got to sit in preferred seating! We were pretty excited about that! Of course, we would have also liked one of those Dream wishes where you get to go to every Disney park in the world, or Fast Passes to every ride, but I think we were really lucky to get even one certifiable Magical Moment. We got a certificate too! I will try to post a picture on here...I'm not good at that, but I will give it a try!
  20. I am glad so many people responded to your post, and gave you some great ideas about why you are feeling this way, and what to do about it. It really is common for people to feel very depressed after surgery, any kind of surgery. During this period, just be mindful of your physical well-being, and follow your doctor's eating plan so you will heal okay. You surely do not want to have any complications with that! Then, before you know it, you'll get through all the liquid and mushy stages, and start losing weight, and that will give you courage to face the next step. There have been several periods during these last two years where I have needed to face my relationship with food...and I bet you will, too. After all, that's what I chose to do by getting the band, and I am SOOOOO glad I did! I hope you will be, too. Give yourself a few days, relax, don't worry....one day at a time. Good luck to you, and I hope you are feeling better! Cindy

    My Year Two Bandiversary!

Thank you for a well-articulated post regarding your experience with the band over the past two years! Congratulations are definitely in order! I'm a month away from my two year bandiversary, and your experiences are very close to mine. I celebrate my band, and I have learned many lessons from having it. But, the last 20 pounds are just sitting there, ready for me to tackle them, and I'm complacent. I've learned how sneaky the food dragons are, too...yep, they are still there, although I do have a great weapon to use against them, and it does work, when I am eating right! Good luck on Year 3, and I hope you keep learning! (me, too!) Hugs to you, Cindy

No secrets around here...and that's a GOOD thing! We got home last night, and it was a great trip! We went to all the parks, plus Blizzard Beach and Disney Quest. We rode all the new rides and saw all the new shows that have opened since we were there last, in Dec. 04. We totally LOVED Soarin'... so all you gals who are going later on this year, be SURE to do it! Another thing, use those FastPasses!!!! I can't understand why people don't learn how to use those, and they are free. Anyway, it was a blast as usual, the only downside is that Florida afternoon heat and humidity, plus crowds, plus a sore ankle just don't add up, so we would go back to the room for the afternoon, and then go back to a park until midnight or later. That worked out very well. If you've been thinking about a Disney Cruise, but weren't sure, I'm here to tell you...DO IT!!!!!! Whatever you want in a cruise, except gambling, they have it! It's a gorgeous ship, it's exceptionally clean, plenty of great activities and shows. We did not get off the ship in Nassau, just stayed on and enjoyed all there was there. Castaway Cay, Disney's very own island in the Bahamas, was out of this world! Top all that off with fine dining and great service, and how can you fail to have a great time! Today I downloaded and catalogued all 360 pictures I took on the trip...and have kept my feet off the floor as much as possible! That ankle is truly painful! Kat, I'm glad Rick is hanging in there...tell those relatives that family get-together's at your house are cancelled until further notice due to health restrictions. No need to explain further, and you'll be off the hook in one sentence. Patty, hope you are enjoying your trip! Glad to see you are losing so well, too! Mandy, sounds like both you and Abi are doing pretty well with your recoveries. I was glad to come home and read that! Keep us posted on other developments with your gyno stuff...it sounds a little scary to me. Dianne, sorry about your blood clot. I purposely do move my legs when I am on a plane, but I've never had a problem. I hope you are going to be alright. Darcy, I'm just glad you are alive and well...and jealous of all the time you are getting at the cabin! I didn't know about all these wedding plans, but I guess I missed that! Good luck with all the plans! Betty, our house is fine, but just a little further north in Gainesville is where all the bad flooding was, and some people even died. Today we are getting tons of rain, and we are having drainage issues, but our house is on a little hill, so we are usually fine. Once the houses down the street did flood, though, and if it keeps raining this hard for much longer, that could happen again. I guess we are getting two year's worth of rain in one summer, huh? Sherry, yes I sometimes have trouble navigating this site...I can't figure out why, though. Eileen, when are you getting your next fill? Just be careful, okay, girlie? I don't want you to eat all your food with a straw! Oh, in case you are wondering about eating in DisneyWorld with the band....I didn't have much trouble. I would order a kid's meal. On the cruise, I would order all the courses, but eat just some of each course. For some reason, I can always eat all of my desserts! LOL! Mickey Bars are no problem, either! I think this post is plenty long enough now...if you want to know more about the cruise or anything else, since some of you are going soon enough...just ask! Glad you are all still here! Hugs, Cindy

Thanks, all! Mandy, I say (and I'm not a medical doctor, as you know, just have dealt with the chemical side of this) NO to chemical menopause. I think surgery is more natural than messing around with blood chemistry and hormones. Maybe that's just me, but I'm glad you are looking into someone to do the hysto. I will say hi to the Mouse, and all his friends, and tell them all some of my good pals will be out to see them very soon!

Mandy, I hope you are feeling better...take care of yourself! Kat, I am praying for you and Rick, also. Hoping for the best, and you take care of yourself, too! Patty, good luck with all that's going on with you. Sorry I haven't checked in...with VBS, we are running around crazy! Tomorrow is the fun day! Off we go to Disney World! I'll be back on the 24th, but won't be able to check in while I'm gone, so don't waste the flying monkeys (or gorillas!) on me! Find those other girls, though! Good luck to everyone, and I'll see you when I get back! Hugs, big ones! Cindy
