    I am Just a SeaMonkey

I wish I could talk about 70's children's show with ya'll! I'm too old, though...I like the pictures Eileen posted! The 70's reminds me of rock music and college! Thanks for a fun thread!

    Farewell..............

Jessiebear, you have been here at LBT a long time. You should do what you think you need to do. It just seems even more sad that a statistically VERY small number of people were involved in a situation, and other people choose to leave due to it. When a situation in one little corner of our cyberworld is not to our liking, surely there are many options one could consider? Leaving, and announcing it, could not be the only one? If members want to leave or stay, just do it. PM those who will miss you. Posting blanket goodbyes continues to harm the community.

    the last weight to leave

I've always heard to expect the last pounds to be very hard, so I guess this is what they meant...who are "they" anyway? LOL! Remember this when you are making up your mind about fills....a lot of people have had that last little bit added, only to be overfilled and caused a cascade of bad problems....if they had been more patient, they would have eventually lost the weight, and not had the problems. I am sure not intending to offend...I know it is so hard to be patient and it's not our strong point. But, I do think it is the most reasonable choice, given the possible problems that could come of pushing our luck.

    prayer requests for LBT'ers

Jon, I am so sorry to hear of the loss your family has endured. Please hug your wife for me and though she has no idea who I am, let her know that I lost my mom a year ago, and know what she is going through. I know it will be a hole in her heart from now on. God will comfort all of you. I am so sorry. I also add my prayers that the anger and bitter pride that has controlled some of our members will be released and healed. I know He will work in His own mysterious ways, and at times this kind of thing must be revealed, so we can all learn. I pray for those who were involved, that they be healed of their pain. For all of us, may we be lights to others; share hope and good news, and hold hands when crossing the street in heavy traffic!

If you disagree with me, YOU HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE!!!!

Okay, I'll play! I'm a Cowboys fan from waaaaaaay back...anyone remember the good old days of Tom Landry, and the original team with Bob Lilly? I agree with you, DonnaB, about TO...haven't seen a thing that would make me comfortable with this choice. Who needs the grief? I guess I'm what you call a reasonable fan, if that's not a contradiction in terms...I enjoy it, but don't plan my life around it.

    PreOp chaos

We've all been there, just do the best you can! The "last meal" syndrome is a really strong force! Please try to get through the few days before your surgery following the pre-op diet...it will help to shrink your liver. The liver is "in the way" during the operation, and the smaller it is, the easier the surgery is. Make sense? My surgeon gave me full-color pictures of my liver, and told me he could tell I did well on the pre-op diet (I didn't follow it exactly, but I did it good enough!) because my liver was nice and pink and not white and fatty looking. So, do your best...quit thinking "perfect." That perfectionism thinking is what got us here in the first place, or so I am starting to think....

    third fill = big pain!!!

Ouch! Make sure you are only doing liquids for a couple days, to let the swelling subside. I would think if you do that, then go to mushies that are easy to digest for another 2 days...and you are not seeing an improvement, you should call your doctor and have this checked out.

    how do you know???

I chose lapband over other weight loss surgeries because I liked that it didn't permanently re-route my stomach and intestines. Also, it is adjustable, allowing me to choose the level of restriction that suits me, and I can change that as time goes by. First, I had to decide to have surgery for weight loss...that wasn't too hard, since my health problems were increasing with age and obesity. Then, which one to have, and lapband was the one that appealed to me. I have no regrets, only positives... Use the search feature on this site and enter "bandiversary". Read what people write when they have reached a 1, 2, or 3 year anniversary of having their surgeries.

    Typical Meal?

There are so many explanations for plateau's (did I spell that right?). For me, I noticed that during the past year, there were two times that I stayed at the same weight for two month periods...and I believe it is a normal process of adjustment to new weight set-points. I chose not to worry about it too much, tried to stay steady on the course, and used those times to coast a little. Hair loss has happened to me after both surgeries I've had in the past 4 years, so might be a reaction to body trauma. My meals yesterday: Breakfast: Slimfast drink Snack: fruit and nut mix Lunch: strawberry/banana smoothie Dinner: 4 chicken wings I am not a perfect bandster...yesterday was a pretty good day, though!

    losing weight?

It is good you are doing research before getting any weight loss surgery. I think reading the posts here, both the success and the complications, will help you in your decision process. Just as news of a car accident does not prevent you from getting in a car and driving, though, news of a complication should not necessarily prevent you from taking steps to improve your health. Make a cost/benefit analysis of your individual situation. Good luck!

    September's Chat

Good morning! Well, I hope the weather on the east coast is calming down for you guys. I wish here in Texas we could have a real FALL...and we need rain, too. We are going to a Ranger (that's baseball) game tonight, so hope it doesn't rain on us then! We're taking DD and a friend, and some of my teacher friends will be there...one thing for sure, I'm a lot cheaper of a date than I used to be! No soft drinks, no beer, and I eat out of other people's nacho's! LOL! On the subject of estates, a little lesson...your will only covers property and bank accounts that will go through probate. If you have bank accounts that are set up as joint tenancy or transfer-on-death with rights of survivorship, those accounts WILL NOT go through probate, and are governed by contract law, not probate law. Soooo, if you have your children (or whoever) signed as joint tenants or TOD on your accounts, and you have told them that when you are gone, you want them to take the money and divide it equally, you really have no control whatsoever that what you have said, or what you have written in your will, will actually happen. That's what is happening in our situation. There were three children (my mom was one). Two of the children predeceased my grandmother. Her will states that all of her estate be divided equally among the three branches of her family tree. All her accounts had her 3 children as TOD designees, and the children were told she set it up like that so when she died, there would not be a wait for them to have access to the accounts, and they could then distribute them to the families. The problem is that LEGALLY, my aunt is the only surviving designee on the accounts. The will does not govern these assets. Even though we know what grandma told her to do, there is no legal compunction for her to do so...and she has removed the funds from the account (legally) and reinvestd them in her name somewher else. Thus, we have an attorney, and we are pursuing several courses of action to see if we can see that my grandparent's wishes can be fulfilled for all of their family, not just my aunt's. (I tried to make this as short as possible....sorry.) If this helps any of you with your estate planning, please change whatever you need to change. It's not about the money...it's the betrayal. It's the idea that my mom's little sister is able to turn her back on her nieces and nephews and say, "Tough on you. It's legal. It's mine." I wonder what my mom and grandma are thinking...and hope they will be pleased that we are trying to see that the matter is straightened out. I wonder. I mean, we could just roll over and let it go, but that would feel like I was letting my mom and grandma down, and that would feel a lot worse than making my aunt upset that I am challenging her. Oh, I'm not in this alone; my sister and dad are all in this together. Sorry, if you read this far, I appreciate it. It was good to write all this down. It 's such heartbreaking time. It will get settled in time, one way or another. On a lighter note, what's everyone doing for Labor Day? Share your plans! If you have fall weather stories, share those, too!

How nice, Mary, to read your long and newsy post! Sounds like your life is moving on, and you are doing well! Not that there aren't problems, because there are and always will be, but you have your spunky attitude intact, and that's a victory right there! Betty, bless you for being a moderator during these silly and hurtful flareups. Thank you. I had an idea earlier today, and did my best but didn't have much time. When that kind of thing (gang fighting) is going on, one way to combat it is to reply to all the legitimate band support and introduction posts, so that THEY are the ones that come up in New Posts, and the other stupid threads get buried under them. We would be like Posting Angels! We could also start new threads...well, you get the idea... I'm stressing out, but nothing to do with the crappyola around here...it's just the estate stuff still going on...I don't discuss it much because it's disgusting, but urrrrgggh. Thanks for letting me Urrrrggggh! Pat, how is your storm....hope there wasn't any more damage! Hugs to all, Cindy

To Fill or Not to Fill?

I'd say stay where you are for a while. I've seen so many people regret a too tight fill...the only thing that will happen if you are not restricted enough is that the weight loss will be slow...that's not the worst thing that can happen.

    Massage with band

Ii've had a couple of massages since being banded and have had no negative experiences...I do inform the therapist beforehand, though.
  18. mousecrazy

    I eat a lot

To put it simply, you cannot rely on the band to do all the work. You have to work with the band. This is not easy, so don't think that I am scolding here. You may need a little top off on the fill. You also need to adjust your "head band." Work on eating hard protein, small bites, chewing a lot. That will keep you feeling full, longer. Nothing and nobody makes us eat a lot...we do that to ourselves. That's something to think about.

Hey! I always forget it's a new month! I did post back in August, but only to brag on Eileen's pictures! Darcy, I think you did a great job on your post; and the fact that you-know-who responded to it means that you were right on target. Pat, the same to you. I was so glad to see both of your names in that thread and taking the truth to the crazies. I definitely see a difference between PUBLIC bashing and behind the scenes manipulation, although both might be less than desirable...the hew and cry and, frankly, paranoia on the threads do make me wonder sometimes about what speed-like substance is being ingested to fuel them? Little "Mouse" here is no angel, (though I've been working at redeeming myself these last 5 years) and I've done my share of naughty things, which makes my antenna go off when I read some of that stuff, if ya know what I mean.... Anyhoo...suuure makes me appreciate all of you, and after reading through those insane posts, I come looking for this thread like a thirsty woman in a desert! Hi, Mary! Sorry about your brother's troubles, and hope it gets worked out soon! Dianne, just try to take it easy with that new fill, and here's a (hug). Remember your faith and give it to God. He will not fail you. The scale will, though. LOL! Gotta run, girls!

Eileen, I said it on the other picture thread, but these are such good pictures! I feel like I went on your field trip with you! Thank you so much. I agree with you, the best words are no words. Also, sometimes I just can't take it anymore and have to blurt something...this time, I'm staying way, way out of it. Darcy, sorry about the code, but didn't want anyone putting those names in search and finding our secret hideout. It had to be vague, or it wouldn't be code, ya know? Thanks for playing along! Sheesh, those new threads right now are beyond brutal...dang, get a life, people. Allison, I love Tinkerbelle! Anything Disney, really! Have fun! Pat, saw the picture of your "baby", too...soooo cute! How are you? Patty, I loved reading about your twins' first day of high school...sounds like it went well. I don't have any news, really...had a flat tire when I came out to the parking lot on Wednesday...that was an adventure, but it's all okay now. Other than that and terrible traffic, I have nothing fun to talk about! LOL! See ya later...(((hugs))) Cindy

Dianne, sweetie...don't make big decisions when you are Tired, Hungry, Angry or....there's another one....I can't think of it now. ANYWAY, becasue you are tired and stressed, your food decisions aren't the best they can be. That doesn't mean a fill will help that. That means if you get a fill, and you are tired and stressed, your food decisions will be even worse. Just get a breath, and calm down some. Let your food decisions return to a better place, and you will be okay. If you get to 200, it will only be for a minute, and the band will gently take you down again. I worry about the perfectionism drive we all seem to have at times. I think it might be one of the reasons we got ourselves up to 300...???? Darcy, OH NO! F***** is D****** is L*** *****. Please, somebody stop this madness! I refuse to go there. I refuse. Eileen, I loved that you got on that first mod thread and called her out as a troll...that was priceless! Eileen, your field trip sounds like so much fun! I haven't been to a place like that, but Animal Kingdom as a Safari thing that sounds a lot like it...I love animals and nature, too. Hi, Betty! Glad you stayed home today to get some rest! Patty, I wish I woke up to coffee and pancakes! Sounds great! Gotta run, have stuff to grade! Hugs to all, Cindy

Hi! I missed posting yesterday...oops! I started, then had a teacher come in to talk...then the evening was crazy, and you know how it goes. I"m glad Lucy the Lost Dog found her home...and good for you, Kat, for being a good foster mommy! You were Lucy's angel! Eileen, tell me about the cool weather...please? We are just happy that is in the low 90's for our high temp! Are you having a fun week? Are you still keeping that fun little friend? Pat...is all that rain coming from Ernesto? I bet you will have a good roofing business! And listen, that little friend of ours...Flash? I'm tired of him! He always visits me in the evening when I go to bed, gets me all hot, then leaves. What kind of friend is that?! LOL! Darcy, you and your sis sound like me and my sis...how many years apart in age are you two? Girrrrrllllll, is that CHEESE discussion gettin' on your nerrrves? I am just skipping reading these things now. And when *someone* wrote asking that *someone* be allowed to come back? I was thinking,"Please, no." Everytime the special someone gets on here, the trouble starts. I don't think it's a coincidence. Of course, I could be wrong. As always, I love it here, where friends can be friends! Allison, enjoy your visit with your sister and family! Patty? Chin up, friend! Everything's going fine around here...that's a good thing, huh? DD came home yesterday praising PE, OMG! I've never heard that before! They have a new teacher, and they play games instead of run laps (which I personally thought was approaching incompetent for 3rd graders...but what do I know?) So, that's a great thing! Tonight is choir and chimes, so another busy one for us! Luv ya, Cindy
