What A Croc: Croc Hunter Killed!!

I was thinking about doing an interaction with manta rays when I visit the Bahamas next summer...now, hmmmmm. It is good to remember that wild things are just that, wild. Maybe we ought to all be more respectful of that.

I haven't had a problem yet, either. Hope they find the problem soon!

    Whippledaddy Has Passed Away

    Thank you, Patty.
  4. I'm so sorry to hear your news...MS is a long road, and you WILL need help. I hope you have some kind of support system "in person" to help with the kids and the errands. I hope the fill removal will right the problem with the slipped band. Take it easy, and take care of yourself!

    Pogo Anyone??

I play POGO, but only play games I play on my own...I am always interrupted, and that messes up other people's games. I like Mahjong, Poppit and stuff like that. My screen name is the same as here.

    Meal portion size

As my restriction increased (and I did this very slowly), my portion sizes changed considerably. I don't measure food, but have learned to "eyeball" (is that a Southern term?) the amounts...1/2 chicken breast is about right, and sometimes it is too much. I eat about 1/3 cup of veggies if they are cooked. I can eat about 3/4 cup of salad, including any meat that is in it. I just pass on the bread, most of the time. If it really looks good to me, then I'll break off a bite, just to taste it. Hope this helps! Cindy

Moe is adorable! Looks like he's wearing a little mask! We have 3 dogs...oh, and 3 cats! Each dog has it's own cat for a pet! LOL!

What A Croc: Croc Hunter Killed!!

I am sad for his family. I think he died doing something he loved, and it is irrelevant our opinion of his profession. May he rest in peace, and God's comfort to his family.

    Steroids!!!

You won't be on steroids forever, hon...so just don't worry so much. Of course they make you hungry. All you can do is do your best to make the food you are eating as healthy as possible. I hope your hip gets better soon!

    September's Chat

Good morning, gals! I see that some of you are already up and running around! Good for you! I got up and took a nice bath...I woke up as tense as I was when I went to bed...I'll get better; it's just the injustice of it all (family crapola) gets to me. I grabbed a cup of coffee...nothing wonderful like Eileen's...and sat down to chat with you all! Sherry, how is your DH this morning? I hope he is better, and you didn't catch whatever it was. Betty, IT'S RAINING!!! Isn't it wonderful? (Sorry to you guys in soggy NJ...totally different climate going on). My DH's smoker is the size of a small car...you know the kind you can pull behind a truck? That's it! Have a good holiday! Chrispy...call Tues. morning, and dot the i's and cross the t's. Insurance is a big bureaucracy, and you have to stay on top of it! Still excited, though! Kat, can't WAIT to see the pictures! You've been losing like a mad woman! Of course, you are anything BUT a mad woman...just losing like one! Darcy, I was at Starbuck's last week, and they handed me this little coupon thing to do on online survey, and when you do it, you get a code. Then, you take the coupon for a free beverage, your choice! I used it yesterday and it's for real! I got a venti, nonfat mocha, with sugar-free hazelnut, no whip. I used to just go in and order something regular, now I'm all picky! Hahahaha! Just like the girls in line that I used to roll my eyes at! (never say never....where have I heard that before?) Beanie? Are you underground? I miss you! Mandy, thanks for coming here to our little corner! You're a definitely wonderful gal, and we'll love having you here! Patty, thanks for hanging around and letting us hug on you until you get your approval...keep after it, it will get done! Pat, so glad you're popping in more often...you add so much to our conversation, and you are so helpful...great pictures, too! Guess what? One of the teachers I work with has finally got her approval to get lapband! She watched me for a while (that doesn't bother me...I've told everyone from the beginning), and then started going through the hoops to get hers...I'm happy for her. She's had terrible back problems, and hope this will help that. Eileen, I am so sorry your knee is hurting so bad...do you take Celebrex or anything for it? I remember us talking about it a lot, but didn't know what you did to make it feel a little better...I hear you on the sleepover fun! I'm still recovering from ours on Saturday! I've got to finish the laundry...that's about it for today! Luv ya, Cindy

Hi, Mandy! I see that Mandy has beat me here...LOL! I was gonna come and introduce her to ya'll. I know some of you know her from the prayer request thread. She is a Disney freak like me and Patty...and her DD is a beautiful girl! She's a great gal, and I know ya'll will love her. Mandy, read through our "past"...we have threads for every month, starting up about a year ago, I think! I'm SOOOOO glad you are here!

    Ater surgery question

I didn't stay overnight, but broth, juice, protein drinks, etc., were my diet for a couple of weeks. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery, and just want you to know that Maine is a favorite vacation spot for my family!

    signs of slippage

I have had to throw up due to migraines and every time that happens, I go to liquids or full liquids for at least a day...the swelling caused by the event of throwing up will make it difficult to eat hard, solid food. Try that, and see if after a day or so, you can eat mushie food, then move to your normal diet.

    How do I....

I showed people who were confused the brochures and other info about the banding procedure. As I have gone through this past year, they have also learned about it (just as I have!). In fact, a friend of mine is now approved to have her surgery! She observed how things went with me, and felt comfortable going forward herself! Good luck!

    Need some help please

Sit it out. It will get better. This same thing has happened to me, too...I love spaghetti, and carbs (or any food for that matter) is (are?) not the enemy. Food is not the enemy. Portion size and moderation are the keys to this. Eating spaghetti was not the problem here anyway...it's the amount, or how fast you ate, or something like that. We've all most likely done it. I sure have! Hope you feel better soon...the left side thing works!

    What do I start with??

Something important...it might be more important HOW you eat, than WHAT you eat. Very small bites, chew well. Go slow. If it is gummy when chewed, that might be something to be cautious about. I liked oatmeal (but realize this is more mushie)...meatballs, chopped steak, chicken/tuna/egg/ham/ salad, omelettes. I love Zone Perfect Fudge Graham bars, and have them when I need to eat something, but don't want to fuss over something else. I have had no trouble at all with any kind of salad. Good luck, just take it easy!

If you disagree with me, YOU HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE!!!!

I have to agree with Nursekathy2U...Greg...what are ya thinkin? If you are the worst team picker...wouldn't it be better to just mail me the 50 bucks, and I'll make lots of cheese dip with it? I mean, at least you'll have some good snacks for your money! LOL!

    September's Chat

Whew! What a day! DD and friend went to sleep about 1:45 AM, then up and took friend home around 10 this morning. Then lunch for my dad's birthday, then over to his house for "birthday pie." Oh, joy...a letter from my aunt. More accusations. Then over to FIL's house...he's having hernia surgery on Friday, and I am going to the hospital with him. I have sick days, and I need to use them before December. My MIL passed away about 7 1/2 years ago, and he is just now beginning to clean out her clothes...he is crying over it, and it is so sad. I am glad he finally able to take that step, and even though I have offered so many times over all these years, he hasn't let me help him. A very emotional day...I am wiped, and probably need to take a pill or something or I'm gonna wake up with a big fat migraine! I am very grateful to all of you for being the beautiful women you are...I very sincerely thank you! Happy to here of your upcoming banding, Chrispygal...you're gonna do great! You have a great mentor in SherryW. Patty, I can see how that shake helps you with sugar level control...I use protein shakes in the same way. Kat, you are doing great! I know we always face stuff that we don't expect, and you have had your share in past few months, but you have handled it beatifully! Pat, thanks for the warning and the update on Eileen...how is your house/dock? Mary, how's it going? Any news! Sherry, you know you are doing great! Had any better luck with the hard protein? Did any of our tips help you? Betty, you must be the best cook! My DH loves to use his big ol' smoker...and we were gonna do that this weekend, too, but - see 1st paragraph = we didn't get around to it! Eileen...I wanna come have dinner with you! Swedish meatballs, buttered noodles, and butternut squash!!!!! Yummy, yummy! Anne, Dianne, Donna, Beanie...I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend! Hugs to all...you're the best! Cindy

If you disagree with me, YOU HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE!!!!

DonnaB and Texas Terry...I guess I should make one small confession at this point, and it'll probably help our crazier fellow fan Nursekathy2U...my DD's birth announcement picture? She was wearing a little Dallas Cowboy onesie thing! Still, I love to make cheese dip and watch me some 'Boys on a Sunday afternoon...or Monday night! Thanks for the great laugh, girls! Cindy
