Yes, please remind her that she is in a healing period right now. She went to the time and trouble to make this big decision to improve her health, and she wants to safeguard that decision. We have all been there. It IS hard to get through this time, but it will be over sooner than you think. It is better to be safe and healed, than sorry later.

Hi, Eileen! Glad you could pop in! I don't know why your computer was targeted...you are nice to everybody! I'm the one with the big mouth! Allison, the party sounded like great fun! Ya gotta watch out for the punch, though! LOL! My DD's birthday is next month, and I'm trying to talk her out of a party...maybe 4 kids and a little beauty shop thing? Still thinking it over... Just so ya know I'm not a total slacker...I leave the site up on my puter, then cover it with my email so the principal can't see it if he walks in...but I'm not always looking at it...yeah, that's right....I'm stickin' to that story...

Good morning! What a question to ponder...I naturally write when I have stuff to think about, so I would write letters, I'm sure of that. I would also do something with my family. I always try to make sure my family has great memories...I was brought up that way, and it's just the way we are...we have great memories. I would probably just want to be at home with my loved ones. I think it's a blessing sometimes that we don't know when we are leaving this earth. Either way, if we know or if we don't, we are somehow given the wisdom of knowing what to do. My mom "knew" she was leaving, and tried to tell us. We didn't want to hear that message at the time, but looking back, it was clear as day. The best we could do at the end was make sure she was surrounded by love, and we did that. Anne, no cyber-butt kicking...we must remain above the fray (except for those occasions that we have entered, trying to maintain the peace and fight for good and just causes....and been given the boot for our trouble!) They'll wear themselves out eventually, or get back on their medications. LOL! I like the new name that was suggested, though! Gotta go, I'm at work....TTYL!

Head Games - How to get your head in the program!
mousecrazy replied to cashley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sometimes being stuck at one weight is necessary for your body to adjust to a new "set point." I have experienced a couple of long periods at the same weight during this past year. I know how frustrating it is, and you think you are doing something wrong. Yet, I really think it is just a natural part of losing a lot of weight. It is going to come off smoothly, 1.5 lbs a week, week after week. Could we all make perfect food choices, all the time? I suppose. I prefer the approach of making good choices about 80% of the time. I love ice cream, too, and I do have it more often than is theoretically recommended. I guess I would have lost weight faster. Only you can balance out your life, because only you are living it. If meat and veggies aren't your style, then try something like chicken or tuna salad, omelettes, meatloaf ??? I love salad, and that is in the veggie category. Don't let the "shoulds" keep you from doing the best you can. -
I love our photo album! Jake is so cute! The darker dog looks almost exactly like my parent's golden (Kody, R.I.P.). He was a great dog, and I bet yours are too, Sherry! Pat, those are some seriously scary storm pictures! I am glad you are okay, and you look fantastic, dahling! Kat, thank you for being brave and posting your before and during pictures! You really have done an amazing job with your banded journey. You look so much younger (and taller!) Beautiful! Paula, you have a good-looking family, and we have had dog parties around here, too! It looks like a great time! Thanks for the pick-me-up! Hugs!

Congratulations! This is a great site for info and support. Be sure to browse old threads, and use the "search" feature located along the top of the page...that can help you find info you are looking for! Another tip is to find the Before and After picture thread, and search for all the "bandiversary" posts...you'll get a great idea of why most of us are so happy with our bands! Good luck!

Thanks, Sherry! I don't go in there on purpose...it was a click away in a new post thread list. Talk about bringing a wet noodle to a knife fight.... Something else that is funny: no matter who it is, someone will always say, "I have a life outside of LBT, blah, blah, blah..." and there they are, posting away and picking fights! It's so sad it's downright funny.

Hi, Lori! I'm up here north of Dallas, north of Denton...keep going! So, far north Texas it is for me! I had my surgery a year ago in July. I didn't want the permanent surgical change that bypass represented, but finally accepted that the "someday I will lose weight" had only led to the highest weight ever! I was ready to make a real change. Lapband, if you can be patient, and learn to actually change the way you eat, is a fantastic option! Being willing to experience change and do the work it takes is still part of the process, but it's been a great year, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I love my band, and know it has been a great decision!

Yea! You found the Introductions! Many of us here have gone to diet drug route...I did. It worked, until I quit taking the drugs. Then, all the weight and more found me! You will learn how to learn this forum...if you want to reply, click on the reply button and type! Good luck! -
I came here because I just got my hand slapped over in the Ranting Raving loonie tune section...accidentally got in there (the first time) by clicking on a topic called Infecting Threads, thinking it had info on the hacker...oops it was the gang fight by proxy! I said "peace", "move along" and "ignore" and then was rudely (imho) told that "ignore" was not in the description of the rantin ravin section, and I should take my bad self out of there. So, I did. Momma? Where are the cookies and milk? OMG? What a bunch of weird people in there. It's good to be home.

The port is sewn (sutured) to muscle tissue, so perhaps it popped a stitch? I have no idea...if it causes you worry, I'd check with the doctor!

Welcome to LBT! The "sticky notes" is a great suggestion...and I always like to direct new members to the "search" feature...especially if you have specific subjects you want to know more about! See you around.... -

Just found your introduction! Good luck tomorrow on your dr. appt., and knowing a lot about the procedure is a big help! I did the same thing, and I think it has paid off! Let us know how the dr. visit went! -
Ignore. It's the only best defense.

If you disagree with me, YOU HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE!!!!

Sorry about that q'back problem, there....it's a risky sport...but then, the guy does risky things. Greg, I'll be rooting for you Superbowl bet, and I sincerely hope you win some big money! Another fun Cowboy fan fact in the mousecrazy house: we call cheese dip the Tom Landry Memorial Cheese Dip! As you might guess, Redskins and Steelers are not our favorite teams, LOL! -
Let's move along.

Kat, I think we knew how we looked/look. But we get so focused on the inside of ourselves that we can't look out. If we can't look out, we can't see. Then, the denial starts, and it's a long cycle. We all know it. The important thing is, you took action! You are doing great! So, post those pictures, and let us give you the praise you deserve!

Well, I guess dogs are a lot like us. We all have different health issues, and different life spans. We all like to have a purpose. We like to be spoiled by someone, and we like to play... Hey, is there already a book like that out there?
-
I imagine any kind of work with wild or exotic animals is dangerous...I enjoy watching programs on them, and someone has to make them. I'm glad there are people who want to. I agree with you, Joliesmom...but then, the way not to get killed in an auto accident is not to drive, and I do that and it's not even fun! LOL! Thanks for helping keep this thread on topic.

We are just hanging out, and watching it rain! We are very, very happy it is raining! (We're in Texas).

Newbie, Banded 8/11....my Bday
mousecrazy replied to LISA T's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Come back and let us know how you are doing when you are feeling up to it! -
One approach that seems to be working is to ignore those threads and/or people. Just keep posting about the subjects you are interested in. If you want to be even more pro-active, answer questions of new members, and greet people on the introduction threads. That has an added advantage of pushing these supportive threads to the top of the "new posts" list.
