Hi, Rita! You've got a great support plan going there...I bet your husband IS happy with your lapband! My DH affectionately calls us "lapdancers" but I know he wasn't aware of your NYC escapades! LOL! So you actually live in NJ? The rest of us, besides Eileen, are interlopers...we just found each other somehow, and love to hangout together. Darcy, I hope you are taking advantage of your forced separation, and resting and relaxing! I'm glad you are not feeling sick. I'm also glad that this will put an end to some of the thyroid problems you've been having. ((Big HUG))! Gotta run for now...

There you go again...being a wonderful role model and a great example! I hope baby bandsters (term used with utmost respect) will heed your words of wisdom. And, as Babs so succinctly puts it..."less is more." Fantastic post!

Beautiful pictures, beautiful bride! Congratulations!

I am not an expert, but I have heard that bypass patients do lose weight faster, but sometimes don't keep it off. I really think it is not a good idea to compare ourselves to other people...it sets us up for the "perfection/failure" response. We feel like failures, so it gives us an excuse to continue our old behavior. Why not? We are already failures? You have lost weight. This is weight you probably would not have lost without the band. In fact, in reality you might have gained even more weight without it. Turn your back on the perfectionist thinking, don't compare your journey to anyone else's and forge ahead. You will continue to lose, even after a year...many people here have. I am still losing quite well, and it's been over a year. Good luck to you! Hope something here will be encouraging. Cindy

You never know what excitement you're gonna find here! I was scared to death, then thank God found the news that Beanie is okay! Darcy, I hope you are doing okay...I worry about you. Do you feel sick or anything, or just light-headed? Take care of yourself! Pat, I'm hard to offend (really, ya'll!). Maybe I haven't been clear about this, but my own DD does go to a private school. Yes, we pay tuition (8,000/year); but we qualify for a little financial assistance, so our responsibility is a little over 5 thousand. Her 4th grade class has 8 students in it. There are no federal or state mandates, stipulations, red tape, hoops or tests. They are tested every year, but use the standardized Stanford Achievement Test. Both DH and I are public school teachers, and chose to make the sacrifice financially to send DD to private school, because it meets her needs best. Choosing among private, public and homeschool is a choice for parents to make, keeping the needs of their children in mind. That's probably more than anyone needed to know about that, but if you are trying to decide what to do (anyone) it sure helps to hear other people's rationale. I know I talked to lots of people when we were in the situation of making that decision. DD went to public school for 1st grade, and 3 weeks of 2nd. Betty, good luck in your Harley competition! Where is it? Someday, DH and I would like to come to one of those...perferably when we have the $$ to buy him one! Well, summer has returned here in North Texas...it's gonna be 98 for the high temp today! Yuck! Keep sending me those fall weather reports...I live vicariously through them! And you! Tomorrow is runaround to birthday parties and Girl Scout activities. Sunday is Haven's first vocal recital...she is singing "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables, and is also in an ensemble singing selections from Annie. I'm waaaaaay more nervous than she is! LOL! Luv you all!

Hi Cissy! Congratulations! Many blessings on your family and the new baby!

I thought Chris Bell was a Democrat. Rick Perry is the Republican candidate, and Friedman and Strayhorn are running as Independents.

Lots of good advice here for you! Now is no time to second-guess yourself! As soon as you are feeling better (remember, you just had surgery, and you are tired and hurting, etc.)you are going to be so happy with your choice! Keep coming back and asking questions! The best revenge is success!

Hello! How fun to see posts from Sherry, Beanie and Patty! Oh, and Dianne! all on the same day! Beanie, I enjoy reading food porn! That meal sounded absolutely delicious! I could imagine the view and everything...of course, you are an excellent writer and make us feel like we were there with you! Sherry, have so, so much fun on your cruise! Relax and enjoy! Patty, good luck with all the paperwork and I sure hope you make progress with the attorney. How is the start of school going? Eileen, you know, I just totally forget about your panic attacks...I sure hope that someday you will not suffer with these anymore! Sounds like you want those white teeth, so hopefully, that will get you through! I've thought about having that done, so let us know how it goes! And, thanks again for your weather report. Here, it is raining a little, and is 75. It will go into the 80's though, later this afternoon. Tonight is voice lesson night...and then it's FRIDAY!!! (after today, there are 58 more days of teaching for me!) Luv you guys, Cindy

Happy Birthday! Hope you are having a fantastic day!

Welcome home, Kat! So glad you had great news, and Dh is getting healthier! Sure wish I could dump this place and speed up to see the balloons with you! Maybe someday... Hope the Cheetos aren't a big cheesy mess all over the place!
-
Thank you for the weather reports, everyone! I just imagine living where there are actual seasons! I love that! Eileen, good luck with the dentist...I hope it goes smoothly so you won't wait 8 years for the next time! I'm one to talk, though. It's been 2 years for me. Now, I'm waiting until my DH switches me to his dental insurance, because I don't want there to be "pre-existing" conditions...blah, blah, blah. Betty, your lunch breaks sound wonderful to me! I think I should try it! Everyone, have a great day!

This may seem like an off the wall question, but are you taking any birth control? I had some issues that seem similar to the ones you are describing several years ago, after taking the birth control injections (Depo-Provera). They may be great for some people, but not me! I believe it started a cascade of problems that included throid imbalance, symptoms that mimic fibromyalgia, and depression. I gained tons of weight. Just something to think about it.

You never know...maybe your success and determination will be the light she needs to go forward and do something for herself.

Hi! I'm so happy it's starting to cool off down here! It's still in the upper 80's for the high temp, but in the mornings, it's nice and cool...ahhhhh! What's it like in NJ? Virginia? North Carolina? Report your weather, please! Nothin's really happening around here, and that's good. Remember when we used to think that "boring" was about the worst thing ever? Now, I really like it! Check back later...hope everyone has a great day! Cindy

Okay, before I forget...my POGO name is Mousecrazy55 (I added the year was born to the end of it!)...sorry about the confusion! I had to work at fighting off that stupid, stupid headach all weekend, but I managed. Probably a hormonal surge or something, because "Flash" is visiting me every 10 minutes, and I have to pee all the time! Ah, the pleasures of getting older...I mean, actually, there ARE some, it's just that these aren't the ones! LOL! Pat, what a drama fest! I am really sorry about the DS's girlfriend. That is some really weird stuff...are there "substances" involved? Or is she just naturally unstable? You are a true blessing to those grandkids, and thank God for you! You are so important to them! Kat, have fun in NM! I'd love to see that balloonfest someday! I've seen pictures and it's so beautiful! Anne, good luck with the job interview...what are the hours like? I know people miss adult interaction, but here in the middle of plenty of adult interaction, I'm looking forward to NOT having any! LOL! I guess the grass is always greener, huh? Eileen, have fun at work...if that is possible! Sorry, I've run out of time...it's time to go to lunch...I'll catch the rest of ya later!

I understand. If it was my choice, I'd get another dog pretty soon. I always have, and have been honored to share my home and heart with each and every dog and cat, though none have replaced the ones who have gone to Heaven. They are each special, and I don't think they are jealous in Heaven. Do you? Hugs to you...pass the Kleenex, okay?

Will Changing Jobs Sacrifice My Weight Loss?
mousecrazy replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What makes you happy? That's the real question. Money and international travel? That really DOES make some people happy. A job you love with people you love? That really DOES make some people happy. What if you find the right guy, get married and have children? Which position fits best for that? Which position fits best if you stay single? Which one are you betting on? The most important part of this decision, I think, is that you are completely honest with yourself, and you don't take the new job just because there are so many people who would kill to have the chance. And, don't be embarrassed to keep the job you have. Do what is truly best for you. Good luck, Julie! -
Oops! I almost clicked on the infamous silver jewelry link before I posted a Sunday hello to all of you, then you wouldn't have seen me for hours, if ever! LOL! Darcy, we'll have to see how your appt goes tomorrow and when your "glowing pill" is going to happen. I hope all this gets worked out real soon for you...no wonder you can't get it together to do your routines like you used to--you're worried! Eileen, I'm glad you saw your neice, and she's doing pretty good. Did you have fun at the car show and fair? Sherry - glad you had a good time at the fair you went to! At the State Fair of Texas (we'll be going to that in Oct.) they have the best corny dogs! I didn't have trouble with them last year, but it's different now. I'll get one, but probably won't eat all of it...that's okay, DH will kill off the rest of it for me! Betty, hope you're taking a nice little nap (yeah, right) on this rainy Sunday. Do you watch the Cowboys? They aren't on until 7:15 tonite! Pat, watcha been playin on Pogo? I earned the Turbo 21 and something else I can't remember right now, last night. I'm still doing laundry, and I'm fighting off one of those migraines. The good news is it's been since July I think since I really had one. And this is just nagging me, not the full-fledged thing, thank goodness! I'm sitting on the couch, and to my immediate left is Mickey (the black mini-Schnauzer), then Perky (grey striped cat), thed Dharma (the Bichon-Frise), then Slatey (the grey male cat); and to my right on the floor, there's Annie (the Airdale). There's only one cat missing, and I suspect DD has her captured in the bedroom! We're just a big pile of fur and computers! Ya'll have a good day! Cindy

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
mousecrazy replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am at 1.3cc's and have been banded 1 year and 2 months. -
To me, it sounds like the "golfball." I get this feeling if I take too big of bites, don't chew enough, or eat too fast. You didn't mention how much fill you have, what size band...these things would affect how I would assess this. (I am not a doctor or anything...just experience talking!) Another thing to remember is that your sensations of fullness will not be felt in your stomach now, but above the band...where the pouch is, almost in your esophagus, which will translate to many of us as in the chest. Try the search feature and enter the terms "first bite syndrome." A lot of bandsters have that, too. Seems like reflux would occur after you eat, not on the first bite.

Eileen, your poor niece! You must feel so helpless, since it is not your child, and you can't really force your brother into any particular course of action...I just think you have to choose the course of love, not fear...they are not doing surgery now because they fear losing her; and ironically, that fear could cause the result they are avoiding. Out of love, the surgeon's expertise should be considered, and that would give her the best chance of a future. That's how I think, anyway, which matters not...I'm so sorry, Eileen. I know you are so worried about her! I colored my hair this morning, then hemmed DD's slacks for her choir uniform, since they are singing tomorrow at church. This afternoon, I'm taking DD over to my sis's, because the little baby cousin will over there, and you can't keep those girls apart! While DD is over there, I need to go shopping for my friend's birthday, which is next week. That's about it for the weekend, if you don't count laundry and ironing! LOL! How about the rest of you girls? Darcy? When is your radioactive procedure? What did they tell you to expect in the way of recovery? Hey, did I tell ya'll one of my friends from work, a teacher, is having lapband surgery next Thursday?! She is so excited. She has had back problems, and even surgery for that...and so we hope this will help her with the weight, and then the back problems. She may come here to visit, and I'll introduce her! Gotta run...check back later...hope everyone is having a nice Saturday! Cindy

It's Friday afternoon!!!!!!! The kids have all gone home, and I have a couple of minutes here before I have to leave. Betty! Way to GO on the raise! Dianne...I'd love to see the picture, but it's in my mind already! I think Betty's idea is the best...and a cruise won't hurt! Darcy, thank goodness you are back...we miss you when you aren't here! Pat, you know, I am just sure we will meet sometime...I don't know how or where, but sometime. It will be so great! Mary, are you sure you are not just putting on muscle weight? Have you taken measurements? I'm just trying to help you out here.... Kat, you are totally in the ZONE, girl...awe-inspring! You have such energy and do so much! I've gotta go! Cindy

Another idea to help you accept the ebb and flow of weight loss is to track your weight on something like www.fitday.com. When I was a baby bandster, this helped me see patterns. I noticed that I would stay at the same weight for a while, once it was even 2 months! Then I would gain a couple of pounds, then start losing again. Each person's pattern is different. Make it an adventure to find out what your pattern is, and it might not seem so scary!
