  1. I was sleeved Sept 1, 2014 in Puerta Vallarta with Dr Joya. Doing great, feeling greater, I'm down 30 lbs already (including post op 2 week diet). You can PM me if you need more info!

Dr Joya or Dr A/ Lopez

I went to Dr Joya.....Sept 1, 2014 was my surgery. The Amerimed was very very clean and the rooms were amazing but I did have trouble with the lack of English speaking nurse attendants. Dr Joya, Nathalie and the supervisors speak EXCELLENT English but the people you interact a lot with only speak a little. That being said I never really had to ask for anything lol they are all over it. Nathalie is great! I found Gerald really sparse in the information he offered. It turned me off and I was really nervous at first. I did not op for the $500 fund and I had no issues, a few other people that shared my surgery week went with it, one needed it and one didn't. The one that needed it needed an endoscopy and that was $400 US so I didn't see the point really. The service is amazing in Mexico, I would never have found the same care here in Canada. They suggest the Sunset Plaza Beach Resort but I know there are better hotels. I thought that they would have more catering to people who have had surgery but they didn't. I ended up having to go to the store to find soup. The butler did run out and buy me popsicles though so I shouldn't complain too much lol! Let me know if you have any questions!
  3. I've heard the facility in Puerto Vallarta that Dr Joya runs is beyond clean, like eat off the floor clean. Free Spirit 63 where did you go?
  4. I'm about to book my surgery in Mexico but still going to the Red Deer info session, I've heard its a 2 year wait here in Alberta which makes me crazy! I am considering a surgery with Dr Joya in Puerto Vallarta, its $6500 including the hotel stay. I have to pay my own flight. Do I want to spend $6500...NO? Do I want to jump through a million hoops and still wait 2 years, NO! Does anyone have any experience with the bariatric sleeve in Mexico?
  5. Super happy to see some fellow Albertans on this thread! I am supposed to go to a meeting July 8 in Red Deer regarding a bariatric sleeve. People are telling me its a 6 year wait!!? Is this true? The wait is making me look at the Mexico route. Its $6500 plus airfare so of course Id rather see about the Red Deer option but a 6 year wait is so unrealistic! Thoughts? PLEASE HELP!
