I am SO not trying to judge or anything and I am proud of anyone who can lose ONE pound b/c I sure as heck can't - I just wanted to know what ya'll thought about why the weight loss varies from person to person and if it was b/c you didn't get fills or you didn't exersize or what. I am not judging and I am going to get a band - I just feel like this is a place where I can express my concerns and I am not trying to rain on a parade - I just had a legitimate concern and I thank you guy for embracing me and that concern.

Dr. Barker patients - what do you think?
lovecats85 replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
DallasDoll - I know you loved him and that's why I wanted to see what you thought and if this experience was "typical" or not. I probably will have the surgery thru him b/c I simply cannot afford the doc I liked best. But I am concerned that you have had the band since April and only lost 15 pounds - I mean it's great you're losing but for 13k I expect alot more weight loss then 15 pounds in 5 months. Do you think you need more fills or what? I am not trying to pick at you and believe me I COULD NEVER lose 15 pounds no matter what if I was trying on my own, but it does concern me, so it wold be very helpful to me if you could kind of take me thru your experience so far. You can private msg me or post on here. Thanks so much. -
I have my psycho eval today. I will let everyone know how it went and what they did since so many people (including myself) are always asking what the do. I'm exited to be one step closer to my band! NSV most looking forward too today - getting out of the shower and being able to wrap a NORMAL size towel around my body without one boob and 1/2 my tummy hanging out!
-
Ok, I had the phsycho eval and you all (like my husband) must be wondering how I can type with the straight jacket on! Well, it was simple. The lady in my honest opinion needs physco care herself! She was sweet though. She had me take a t/f test with som ?'s thrown in to make sure you were really reading it - like "My face has been on the ocver of several magazines this month." True or false. Then I filled out some paper work about my diet and exersize routine. She asked me a few ?'s like what I do, how's my marriage, etc. but nothing I thought was abnormal. She said all of her bandster patients are doing great! I can't wait to be one too!!!!!

Jodie - I'm in the same boat, except I had to get financing which sucks but right now I'm paying more for gas in my car than my band!!! Anyways, congrats and I hope to be banded soon too! -

I don't have a band yet but from what I've read on here - most people think they are eating too much until they get thier 1st fill. Also, my doctor said the not drinking while you eat thing was solely to help you lose weight b/c drinking while eating pushes the food thru faster and therefore you don't get/stay as full. -
Ok, here's some pics. Me and the DH, wedding pic (I've gained 20 lbs since the wedding 2 yrs ago!), the furry kids, my cat who needs an intelligent vet to invent the "kitty band", and my passion/hobby - my fish pond!
-
Ok, everyone loves pics, right!!! So, I thought we should start a new place for everyone to post pics just for fun. I love the before and after pics, but it's also nice to see pics of people in there everyday lives and what not. You guys have all been such an inspiration to me and a true support network! Here's a glimpse into my life outside the band and I'd love to see you guys' just for fun pics too! Here's me and my DH, our dogs (the furry kids), our cat (who is patiently waiting for them to invent a "kitty band", and my #1 hobby - my pond! <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/545f.jpg?phNfk_CBTKbo2bRr> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/854a.jpg?phlok_CBRVMCRW2y> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/f6e3.jpg?phlok_CBTvvdA89Y> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/95a1.jpg?phlok_CBlC42e8hf> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/dd8e.jpg?phlok_CBntWGODiZ> <img src=http://us.f3.yahoofs.com/users/42fe431ez8e52e218/36ea/__sr_/25c4.jpg?phlok_CBS_mG6e7J> yeah, gained about 20 lbs since the wedding 2 yrs ago! Oh well, I'll be a bandster soon!

-

-
I'm a dork - I NEVER even knew of the lounge until you said that. Now I will have to spend even MORE time on this site. Ok, ignore my pics I put in the wrong place!

I have BCBS of TX and they cover NO WL surgery No matter what! I got financing thru advanced patient financing (google them). Don't be upset - I know it's expensive but I am willing to drive a less fancy car, eat out less, etc. to make up for it.
-
I am so exited! I just got approved for financing! My psych eval has been scheduled for awhile for next week and I just got a letter from insurance saying they will cover my pshcy eval and I have an appt to consult w/ Dr Barker in Mesquite TX next week! WOOOO HOOOO! I just have to sing my new band theme song! Everyone sing with me..... I’m coming out I want the world to know Got to let it show There’s a new me coming out And I just had to live And I wanna give I’m completely positive I think this time around I am gonna do it Like you never do it Like you never knew it Ooh, I’ll make it through The time has come for me To break out of the shell I have to shout That I’m coming out I’m coming out I want the world to know!!!!!

I wish I could find the thread I posted a few months back when I sounded just like you! My answer is simply just "screw em." I went thru it to and felt really sad and now I could care less! It's my body and I'm doing what I want with it! My hubby was concerned that it was a way out too but now he seems to realize that I NEED a way out of this fat, unhealthy body! There are HUNDREDS of people on this website alone that think a band is the "right way" to lose weight! I am one of them and I am SO over critizism and I'm SO ready to start losing weight! Blow off the negative people and jump on the bandwagon with me and all the others who KNOW exactly how you feel - something your dad and hubby will probably NEVER understand. Give up on wishing he would understand and just tell him you don't expect him to understand or approve but as your husband you expect him to support no matter what and if he can't do that he ain't worth it!
-
Off subject but Karen - you are an inspiration to me! When I look at my numbers and your numbers you are probably the most similar LBT person to me #'s wise. I hope I'm where you're at soon!
-
Kind of unrelated but I do worry that the band will make me have fatter kids - studies show that moms who don't get enough calories while preggo have kids that tend to be overweight as adults. Well, when I get my band I will just get an unfill when I'm preggo and drink milkshakes!
-
I wanna have 3 kids so I was just wondering if anyone has had multiple band babies!

What is 100% of Excess body weight?
lovecats85 replied to burnsun's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dr says a typical band patient loses 60% of ebw - 60 out of 100 lbs - so i think you did lose 100% - you go girl! -

-
I'm married, live in TX, have 3 dogs, a REALLY fat cat (do they make kitty bands?), a fish tank, a goldfish pond, I'm a law student (one more yr left), I work part time as a legal clerk, I love gardening, being outside, swimming, doing anything in the water, boating, etc. I can't wait to get my band! Should be sometime in the next 2 months!

Ok, I don't have a band yet but I have had some stomach issues so I decided to see a GI doctor before I got serious about this band business! He did an endoscopy and I have: 1. a hiatal hernia 2. acid reflux 3. duodenal/peptic ulcer 4. a stomach nodule (whatever that is - apparently a sore spot in my stomach that will eventually become an ulcer if I don't take the nasty medicine for a month) SO - I know ALOT of people had reflux before they got banded, so I'm not too worried about that, but has anyone had these other problems? What about endoscopy - can you still have this procedure once you are banded? I have my band consult on 8-4-05 and I will ask the band doc but I just thought I'd ask you guys too!

thanks for the info! I am being medicated right now. I went 2 year w/out going to a GI dr. and still everytime I eat I have to worry if it will make me sick. It's nice to know someone else went thru it too! -
Anyone been banded by these guys? I have a consult w/ them on 8-4-05.
