Just remember that continually eating under 1200 calories per day can slow your metablolism down FOR LIFE. I would rather lose slower with my band than end up being 400 lbs if I ever have to remove my band!

Look around for cheaper US prices. My self pay band was 12,600 and someone in San Antonion does the band for 10,500. -
PMS is a bitch! Just let yesterday be yesterday and today be a new day!

I got a soft stuck thing 2 days ago - I ate some mashed up meatloaf and mashed potatoes and it didn't really get stuck but it just went down weird and painfully. I felt like crap the next 24 hours and I got freaked out about slippage and my chest was tight and all that but I'm fine now. I think it's normal to freak out when your chest feels weird and you feel bad and you've never felt that way before! Hope you are better now!

I think your stubborness about taking medicine is related to anxiety (not just a "man thing"- I've found other people with anxiety have the same fear like I do. I have this irrational fear I will have a bad side effect and die or something.

I know the feeling! I am supposed to start "real food" on Friday and so far I have been too scared to swallow a bite of mushy as heck chicken salad. I just have this gut feeling it won't go down. I don't know how I will eat a piece of chicken!

Sue's Pending Lapband Removal...very, Very Long.

Thanks for sharing your story. The DS supposedly works really well, so I wish you luck! -
Ok, so last night I swallowed a bite that felt weird and gave me the golfball feeling. This morning I was fine again, had a shake for breakfast and some mush for lunch and here it is 5 o'clock and I feel tihgtness in my chest and somewhat "golfbally" again. I am so worried that my band will slip. Is this feeling normal after a weird swallow - will it go away soon? how long shuld I wait before I call the doc?
-
Ok, not that anyone cares but I had some cottage cheese and applesauce for dinner and I feel fine tonight. Hopefully I'll be all better but I will stick to liquids and major mush again tomorrow to be sure!

Consultation tomorrow...I'm worried that i won't fit the critera for a lap-band

I had a BMI of 37 on some charts, 38 on others. I had no official co-morbities except reflux and knee pain. Of course I'm a self pay and I think they don't care as much if you pay yourself. -
I'm so glad I had you guys to break it down in plain English for me. I have a biology degree but I sure hate reading studies and numbers! Anyways, basically what I got out of the summarized news article was that some people die but it's mainly b/c of the co-mobidities. Duh.

also, it feels like my stomach is up in my throat!

I'm not resentfyl or cynical - I just don't believe that Anna Nicole lost all that weight by just taking TrimSpa and that irritates me that she would do an endorsement that was a lie. As far as other celebs, I totally understand people who don't want to admit they've had surgery - but I do honestly believe there are plenty of celebs and non-celebs that lie about it , so what's wrong with speculating?
-
I think celebs like Anna Nicole and Kirstie DO need the endorsement money b/c thier careers aren't exactly what they used to be but they are still accustomed to a certain lifestyle that requires money. I'm sorry but I refuse to believe Anna Nicole took TrimSpa and that's it. Maybe she didn't have the band,,, maybe she had a 24/7 professional chef and trainer that the rest of the world can't afford, but I have never know anyone to lose any weight on TrimSpa!

It's hard to lose wieght after the plateau and frankly my personal opinion is that people quit trying b/c the weight they've lost is "good enough" for them. I think everyone has the potential to lsoe all the weight but when they speak statistics they have to factor in everyone with the band - which means they will factor in people who have to get the band taken out due to a complication and they don't lose all the weight, and people who never get a fill b/c they have refulx so they never lose all the weight, and people like some people I've seen at my docs office who just don't try! For example, one woman I saw in the waiting room sais she didn't do the pre-op diet b/c she "didn't feel like it" and ate fajitas and margaritas the night before surgery - I'm sorry but if you have no self control the friggin' night before surgery you probably won't be as sucessful. Then also take the 2 other women who had surgery tha same day as me. One said she refused to give up oreos and chocolate milk, and the other said the only protein shakes she would drink was Boost b/c she liked the taste (HELLO FULL OF SUGAR!!!!) and she said that losing 1/2 the weight was "good enough" for her. May I also mention that I had to pay for my own band yet these people had Medicaid pay for it! Tax dollars hard at work right??? Anyways, when you look at statistics they factor in EVERYONE - and I don't worry b/c I know I don't need chocolate milk and oreos, I do exersize, I can follow my docs instructions, I will get fills, etc so I believe in my heart I can lose 100% and all I need is that faith in myself - not statistics!

Tonight I think I got stuck for the 1st time. I was eating some mashed up meatloaf and mashed potatoes and one bite seemed to go down weird and ever since then I've felt tightness in my chest and somewhat of the "golfball" feeling and a sore throat. But I didn't get any slimes. Can you get stuck and not have slimes? I am so paranoid about slippage that I just had to ask this question. Anyways, I am going to go all liquid tomorrow for sure!
-
And of course Kirstie Alley and Anna Nicole and other celebs would never admit to being banded - they would lose all thier endorsement deal money!!!
-
There's probably alot of famous people who can afford the makeup and scar creams we can't.
-
I think the bite was too big b/c it was only the 4th bite so I wasn't too full or anything. Anyways, I don't know why I didn't have slimes but I do know something didn't feel right and I am doing liquids today. I feel better this morning but a bit of nausea. I'm just so scared of this thing slipping! I can't afford a slip repair!!!

How did you determine your goal weight?
lovecats85 replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did mine by what the BMI chart says and what I weighed when I was 17! -
Ok, I lost 14 pounds in the 5-6 days after my surgery and now it's day 14 and no more loss. Spare me the "it's time for healing not losing" and what not b/c I KNOW that!!! But knowing that doesn't make me feel better b/c I spent 12,600 bucks on this band and everyone on here makes it sound like you lose most weight in the 1st 6 months, etc. I am just annoyed and I know it's "to be expected" but it's still annoying!!!!

what is so wrong with diet coke?
lovecats85 replied to heatherfeather's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Also, artificial sweetner is not good b/c it leads to even more sugar cravings! -
I have severe anxiety disorder and panic attacks althought it is mostly controlled by zoloft nowdays. However, my anxiety mostly stems around medical issues (thinking I'm going to have a heart attack, afraid to take medicine, afraid of having a reaction, afraid of dying, etc) and I would say I am alot more paranoid than most people on here which is why I post all the time and am afraid of slippage and stuff, but all in all I've done ok so far with the band. I can't feel the band, but I can feel the port and it makes me kind of nervous but I'm doing ok. I was scared so bad of the anesthsia - but I forced myself to do it and so far no regrets. I understand your fears and all I can say is that zoloft has been a godsend for me!

So I went on a Gastric bypass site and...
lovecats85 replied to jillrn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've heard that the bypass could be reversed b/c thoeretically they can staple back the part of the stomach they cut away that is essentially just floating there. But I have never heard of anyone getting it reversed. I also wonder if it really is possible b/c you would think that part of the stomach that was cut away would die without active blood vessels and active use. Anwyays, it creeps me out- the thought of having an unused part of organ just hanging out in your body! -
I know I am being a worry-wart but whoever it was that said her friend had a slippage on the mushies when she ate chicken scared the heck out of me. Every meal I can eat more and more and I think it's b/c the swelling is going down. I can eat about a cup of food at a time now. But then after I read that post I started worrying that maybe I've slipped. How do you know if there is a slip and how do they fix it?
