same thing here - so ready for my fill next week!
-
I am anti-Curves. The price is ok - 30 bucks per month (I signed up when they had a free sign up time) and you have to sign a yr contract. My problem with it was that your body gets used to the wrokout before the year is up and you never push yourself any harder and it stops working kind of. I quit exersizing for the year before I got my band and now I walk and increase distance and pace once a week. Your body needs to be pushed to get a good workout. WIth Curves you will just stay stagnant. Don't get me wrong - any workout is better than none, and Curves is fun, but if you are serious about it, You need a routine where you can mix it up and push yourself more or your body will just adapt and stay where it is. Curves offers no outlet for mixing up the routine.

Just do what I do and drown those feelings in alchohol instead of food! Just kidding - sortof, I really do that sometimes but don't worry - I'm no alchoholic - just someone who is human because I get stressed sometimes. I have come to realize with the band you have to find another outlet. Exersize, a bubble bath, a bottle of wine - whatever you need to help you thru those rough days! Good luck!

Ok, here I was yesterday whining about how I haven't lost anymore weight, how I can eat almost a full meal, how I've been eating Halloween candy, etc and how I can't wait for my 1st fill next week. I've been avoiding the scales b/c of all the things mentioned above and I finally weighed in this morning and it was 228. Down 2 more pounds. How does this happen when I am eating hardly anything and my weight loss stalls and then I eat candy and more food and I lost 2 pounds. I am going to try not to ? it and just be happy. Also, I have been walking almost everyday so that probably helps! Anwyays, I am still going to get a fill. I can eat about 1 and 2/3 cup of food at a meal and I would like to be eating about 1 cup.

I'm in my 3rd and last year of law school - whoo hoo! I only have class 3 days a week so I missed about 5 days of school getting banded. I told everyone at school and my professors because I don't care what anyone thinks and I would rather people know the truth then spread rumors (which happens alot in a small law school). I just bring my lunch - they have a fridge we can store our stuff. Anyways, I am so ready to be done with this school stuff and get out in the real world,,,, of course, I have to take that pesky bar exam in July...grrrrrrrr.................

Ok, now I can basically eat what I did before (maybe slightly less) and I find myself just shoveling it in b/c I can. I am so frustrated now. Why can I eat like this? Then I worry that I've hurt my band somehow lioke stretching or something. I get my 1st fill in 9 days and I'm so ready! Hopefully they won't say I've dislocated my band from eating too much!
-
I heard they take all your fill out before putting a new fill in (or at least that's what they are supposed to do ) so I would think you could easily get an unfill. Also, they unfill you if you get pregnant I've heard. Why are you sick of your band?

Mckinney,TX- What DR.'s are great for this?
lovecats85 replied to cshook's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I used Dr. Barker in Dallas. www.drwbarker.com He was great, and he had done tons of bands, and he is a laproscopic expert and does the laproscopic bypass. -
umm yeah, I had to give myself an enema 3 days after surgery. It sucked but I have been fine and regular since then!

Did u pay CASh for ur LAPBAND? How much from DFW dr?
lovecats85 replied to godley_gal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not to start a controversy - I have heard WONDERFUL things about Dr. Jaysalleen, but D Magazine is not really a good basis for rating someone. At least in the Legal community, people pay for and solicit those D magazine polls. -

I used Dr. Barker in Dallas and I LOVE HIM!!! I went to him originally b/c he was the cheapest but I ended up using him b/c he is so caring. He has called me from his home to answer questions for me, offered to give me his cell #, sqeezed me in for an appointment, etc. He does the surgery at 5 different places, and I picked the cheapest which was Vista Surgery Hospital in Garland. The total cost for everything was $12,600. Fills are 100 each but my insurance covers them (I don't get that....) so I just have to pay 30 for a fill. Vista was great and the staff was fantastic and so attentive! Anyways, self pay sucks but Dr. Barker was the cheapest I found in the Dallas area. Also, if you do have insurance, remember that when getting fills b/c they can bill your fill as an x-ray so your insurance will pay it. Send me a private message if you ever want to talk about anything in more detail. Good luck! -

I'm glad I saw it - It makes me feel better about the fact that I can eat alot b/c I haven't been filled yet. When you see the band w/ no fill it doesn't look like it would restrict much. -
My doc says most people have no restriction before a fill but I am getting worried b/c I can eat more and more everyday. Today I had 1/3 cup egg salad for breakfast, an egg salad sandwich and a few cheetos for lunch, 3 cookies in the afternoon, and 1 1/2 cups spagetti and a small spoon of green beans. This seems like about 4/5 of what I could eat pre-band. I'm sure I just need a fill but I am so worried about slippage, stretched pouch, etc. Did anyone else eat almost as much as pre-band before a fill?

I was banded on Sept 30th and haven't lost any weight since the week after surgery - I want a fill right now!!!
-
I'm 4 1/2 weeks out and I still have sore muscle around my port but my doc says it's normal and nothing to worry about - mine did get as swollen as golf ball size at one point but it finally went down!
-
Ok, I can eat 2 peices of pizza and about 1 1/2 cup food at a time - I guess I need a fill as soon as I can get one!

what have you done because you were embarrased of your weight?
lovecats85 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A friend and I were discussing what things we had done because we were ashamed of our weight and eating habits. Hopefully I'll never do any of these now that I am banded! Anyways, here's a few of mine to start out: 1. Shopped at Lane Bryant and turned the bag inside out so I didn't have to carry the bad around the mall and have everyone know I was plus size (like they can't tell anyways.....) 2. Order fast food to take home or to the office and get more and eat it in the car and throw away the wrapper so when you get to home or office it looks like you are only eating a "normal" amount. 3. trying to be really quiet when opening the fridge or a wrapper so noone will hear 4. cut the labels out of all of my clothes out of fear a tag would stick out accidentally and people would see how fat I really am! -
we always had a block party in someones garage and bobbed for apples and played games and everyone got a prize for something costume related ,,, like "cutest princess", "scariest ghost" etc
-
Nice to meet ya lurker! Good luck!

I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy under twilight sleep but other than that the band was my 1st actual surgery. I know major surgery is a big deal, but I didn't really think it was any big deal - I mean it only took 45 minutes, I was home by 2 pm, etc.
-
I just had 3 pieces of Halloween candy make there way down my throat. There must be somthing in the air!!! Somebody smack me!

I went to a campaign kick-off party tonight and it is so hard to follow the band rules with snacky/finger food. I ended up eating 1 stuffed mushroom, 1 cookie, 1 mini piece of pizza, 1 chicken on a stick thingee, 1 potsticker, 1 slice of a rollup thing, 1 artichoke thingee, 1 carrot stick w/ dip, 1 bite of hummus, and I came home and ate 2 mini candy bars b/c I never got satisfied and full like I would have if I had just sat down and ate a regular meal. That is SO much more than I could eat at one meal but b/c I was just mingling and nibbling for 3 hours of this party I ended up eating way too much and never feeling full. How do you handle it when you are at something like this where there is no "real" food, just a bunch of snacks and nowhere to sit down and eat. I obviously need to get a grip on this situation before going into the holiday season!
-
nibbling on finger food - I was BAD!
lovecats85 replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the comments - especially the legal analysis from Ira - that made me laugh out loud! Basically I know not to beat myself up too bad for one slip up but I know that the holidays are right around the corner and there will be alot of these parties and I need a plan to avoid snacking all through the party. I am going to try to just get one plate and eat it all at once instead of snacking all night. Then I will likely stay full and act as a "reasonable prudent" bandster! -

Oh lord, this is embarassing,,, but that Subway story reminded me that one time I went to Quiznos and I couldn't decide b/w 2 sandwiches so I decided to get a small one of each and I actually went to the lengths of writing it down a peice of paper so I could read it off to look as if I was ordering for 2 people! I make a promise here and now that I will not ever do any of these things again. I will proud of the 15 pounds I have lost so far, and I will know that I will keep losing and I will not be that person that does all of the above (which trust me, there is not much on this list I haven't done before). Thanks to everyone for sharing - I think sharing this info really helped us all to know we aren't alone, to encourage us all to change our ways, and helped us all "face the truth, come to Jesus, etc" with ourselves! -
I was wondering the opposite - how do I get LBT to stop sending me emails. I check this site all the time so I dont need the emails.
