anyone filled up pver 2.3 cc's in a 4 cc band?
lovecats85 replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think she meant the fill was taken out while preggo - not the band -
When am I going to win this battle with my colon? I haven't had a BM since before surgery and basically it's just sitting in my colon and my mind is wrestling with my colon to make it come out and my mind is losing. How much more of this day do I have to sit on the toilet playing tug of war!!!! I was supposed to go back to work today and now I don't see that happening. Can I take liquid fiber?

Poll: would you do it over again?
lovecats85 replied to lovecats85's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Anyone who is discouraged by some of the threads on this site should now see that over 100 people are 100% happy with thier bands! That's GREAT!!! -
I had a teensy insignificant PB on some cracker and artichoke dip.

I wouldnt have noticed if you hadn't metioned it. You're a hottie!

ALOT of people, inlcuding myself had NO restriction before flls. I could eat like always after I healed and evern after my 1st fill. Now i have 2 fills and have some restrictyion but I am still going to get another fill soon. When you are filled you phsically cannot overeat. Like today - Xmas dinner - I couldn't eat tons of food, I phsically couldnt! You will feel better when you start getting fills. I went thru the same thing! -
I had the same problem but it went away when I got back on a regular diet (no more mushies, etc). I basically just ate breath mints 24/7, carried binaca, breath strips, those Oral B Brush ups are great to stick in your purse. I was mortified by this problem but thank god it went away! Also, eating parsley supposedely helps. If you are on mushies, sprinkle a tsp of dried parsley in soup, mashed potatoes, etc.

Please post about your complications
lovecats85 replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No complications thus far for me! -
I'm on it - no problems now. At 1st I lost weight (whoo hoo) and had a major deacrease in sex drive but now that I've been on it awhile I have no side effects. I had bad anxiety and it cured me.

low BMI before surgery - does it correlate with slow weight loss?
lovecats85 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was just curious if maybe some people lost faster b/c they had more to lose. Please post your pre-surgery BMI and your lbs per week loss so far and we will evaluate if my thoery is correct. I'll go 1st: presurgical BMI 38 loss so far: 1.6 lbs per week -
My doc didn't require a phscy eval - you should try him. www.drwbarker.com

lovecats85 replied to lovecats85's topic in The Gals' Room
well, here it is 2 days after I posted this and I got my period! -
Is there a site that you post what you eat for the day
lovecats85 replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
can you see what other people are eating? I always want to compare with other bandsters. -
I think you sip right after surgey b/c you are swollen and stuff, but now I have 2 fills, a decent amount of restriction, and I gag if I try to chug most drinks, but I can chug water like you couldn't imagine. I've never had any problems drinking alot of water at a time.

How long did it take after your first fill before you got restriction
lovecats85 replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my 1st fill did nothing for me, my 2nd one was good the 1st 2 weeks, but now I think i could use a bit more fill. -
Barretts is caused by long term reflux - it can be treated - just take meds and you'll be fine!!!

1. How difficult did you find the pre-op diet? My doc said do one week of liquids but if I HAD to eat I could have one small meal per day - I found that it wasn't too hard if I ate a protein shake for breakfast, some blended liquid soup for lunch, a light meal at about 4 pm, and maybe another shake or soup at 8 or so. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Some people way way way cheat, but I felt like it was easier not to cheat by allowing myself that one healthy meal per day. 2. I have had 3 cesareans and my gallbladder laproscopically removed. Does anyone know how the pain and/or recovery is in comparison? I had never had surgery before my LB, but the paid wasn't too bad. The 1st few days I felt pain, but 3 days after surgery I went to work for 1/2 day. 3. Now this is one I really haven't seen at all and am a bit shy to ask, but it's better to ask now then end up in the ER. How soon can one umm hmmm be intimate and are you limited in well you know <WHISPERS>positions? I waited about 1 week to do no frills stuff - after 2 weeks, no problems doing it any which way. 4. After going on solids, is there a weight gain? I plan on eating only healthy (low carbs) on the liquid and solid stages and fear that once I go on solids I may actually gain weight. Should I jus eat whatever I can tolerate on liquids and solids and worry about losing the weight and low carbing after I go on solids? I did gain back a few lbs after going back on solids, maybe 3 lbs. I'm a slow loser. It's good to know and expect that you will gain back a few at 1st b/c it's discouraging but it's totally normal. Also, some people need several fills before they can lose any at all. It can get frustrating but just remember that maintining some weight loss is better than gaining, and that MANY people require seevral fills before they lose.6. For some reason it is very easy for me to lose 40lbs (after each of my 3 pregnancies I have lost all of my pregnacy weight which has been 40-45lbs within 2 weeks after delivery AND each time I have done Atkins I have lost 40lbs and then I stall). Do people stall on this and if they do and it has nothing to do with the restriction, how can you tweak your program to break the stall? Or is it a matter of just being patient and waiting it out? Can't help you on this one - I'm at a stall right now. I'm hoping adding more exersize will help, but haven't gotten off my lazy ass yet to try it! Welcome to bandland and good luck! -
I still take huge bites and then jsut hold them in my cheeks and chew bits of the bite at a time before I swallow - its pretty disgucting actually. I amn trying to take smaller bites!
-
sounds scary! I woulnd't worry about what they say about the hospital - trust your gut! Plus, I think a hospital is probably safer than a surgery center b/c they have defribulators and stuff.

banded 7/12--and yesterday discovered I am pregnant
lovecats85 replied to shrinazaldivar's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
COngrats! My doc says people often get pregnant b/c they lose weight, they look sexier, more sex... hahaha -
I feel like everytime I eat I am worried that my band slipped. Like, just now, I ate lunch and I worried about my band slipping b/c one of the signs is being able to eat alot of food right,,,,,, well, it's funny how now that I'm banded I think eating 1/3 a peice of pizza and 3 chicken wings is a VAST amount of food!!!! Then I have a reality check and tell myself I haven't slipped b/c that really is hardly any food!!! I'm crazy.
