Regrets after Gastric Sleeve Surgery, is this normal?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Wmc1231's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had baked chicken the third week also. Small bites and chewed well. I have had no problems at all. Everyone is different. Dark meat seems to be better because it is moister. But I can eat white meat too. -
Went for my 6 week follow up and have questions...
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to TeacherMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon will guide me if I ask, but I know what I should be doing to make this work for me. He gave me some general guidelines. Last appt last week I thanked him for all he has done and he said No thank you for making me look good. It's you who is doing all the work. I thought that was really nice of him! All surgeons are different. I personally love mine. Easy to talk to and is an all around good surgeon! Thank you Dr Eyad Wohaibi in Saginaw Michigan. Your the best! -
Are there any vitamins that taste better than Flintstones?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to nails211's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tolerate Flintstones the best spent a ton of money trying different things. Went back to Flintstones. Calcium was a whole other story. Yuck! -
Post op sucks!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Luvin_Life125's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree it sucks! Many we all seem to heal differently. Everyone seems to have a different experience in the beginning. However the outcome is always the same. Some lose slow some lose fast but ultimately we all have the same goal and as long as we all stick to our plan we will all get there. I am 12 weeks post op and feeling great. I have had no "stalls" and I am grateful for that! Feeling really blessed I had this opportunity to get the tool I needed to look and feel good. All in good time you will feel better and the post op period will all be a distant memory. -
I too had a sweet tooth, I loved to bake. I don't bake too much anymore because if it were to be in my house I would crave it! Grocery shopping is a chore too and sometimes I wish I could just buy something sweet. I am 12 weeks post op and have not had one bite of anything sweet, not because I didn't want it but because I know if I am going to succeed I cannot have it!

Honestly I had to skip the puréed food stage, I could NOT tolerate it. I stayed on Protein shakes and ate scrambled eggs until I could go on solid food. I hope you can get something for the nausea from your doc. I had Zophran, I only had to take it once or twice. And I learned not to take my Vitamins first thing in the morning. The vitamins made me nauseous and I was trying to drink my Protein shake on top of that. Ewwwww. It was bad. I am now 12 weeks post op and doing much better. Still get dizzy occasionally. But it get s better! And you will look back in a little while and think "well that wasn't so bad". And think....look at me now! Godspeed to you! Hope you are doing better very soon!

Eating slowly..
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to allliecortia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So this is really weird. I take small bite and chew for a little bit and swallow. I don't chew food until it's mush. I don't like the texture when it gets like that. I have had no problems and no stalls and I am twelve weeks post op this coming Monday. My stricture is pretty tight. I can only eat about and ounce of food. Losing like crazy and no issues. I am not sure why they tell us to chew everything up to mush unless that is just for new sleevers. It's working for me. -

Regrets after Gastric Sleeve Surgery, is this normal?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Wmc1231's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is soooooo normal! I had a couple of melt downs. Depressed. Hurting. Couldn't take my pain meds. Not everyone has a rosy recovery. I was tired and irritable. Ummmmm lets see what else. I worried about protein and fluids and I thought oh crap now what am I going to do? Well eventually you will find your groove and what works for you. Some people lose faster than others which to me was depressing. But slow but sure it starts coming off and you will start looking and feeling good and what you are going through will all be a distant memory. Good luck on your journey and it is just that YOUR journey. And you can do it! -

How's my calories?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to rhayla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to concentrate on protein and fluids at that point and was not counting calories or carbs. I was still on full liquids at that point also. -
Can someone please help me...
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I checked with my NUT. She said the body not being able to absorb a certain amount of protein at a time is a myth. It may take a little longer to absorb but it will all be absorbed. -
How far are you post op?

Testosterone
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a medical biller and this new insurance is a nightmare. I feel so bad for the patients who pay a high premium for a policy that has high deductibles! Can't win for losing. I think overall the cost of the weekly injections add up to about the same as the Testopel does just a lump sum for eight weeks instead of the weekly payments. Good luck to you! -
Does anyone regret getting the sleeve and wish they had the bypass?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to April4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am eleven weeks post op sleeve... No regrets. I didn't have any co mobidities. So I chose the sleeve. I started at 289, I am 5'9" tall my current weight is 190.3. I lost 60 pounds of this weight prior to surgery it did not all come off in the last 11 weeks. -
Testosterone
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have insurance there are testosterone pellets called testopel. You don't have to go every week. I thinks it like once every 8 weeks. I am not a male but I work for a urologist. Quite convenient. -
I am two weeks and 2 days post op. Started back to work on Monday. I am feeling pretty good, I make it through the day not hurting and am getting in protein and fluids. Monday night I noticed a lump under one of my incisions. It is quite palpable. I have an appt with my surgeon this morning for him to look at it. But I was wondering if any one else had this? It is not flat feels more like a chestnut. Kinda roundish feeling.

Genepro protein rocks!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to puttingme1st's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I order mine from Amazon. It has 30 grams of protein in about a scoop the size of a tablespoon. It mixes in anything hot or cold without clumping and I cannot taste it! I love it! It's awesome.
