Thinkingthinner1109 replied to onmyway14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do it! It gets easier as time goes on and you get on real food. Don't give into the temptation you will just regret it and get down on yourself. 30 pounds quite and accomplishment! Stay strong! -
Threw up Vitamin
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to melodyssss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah vitamins are not my friend either. I don't throw them up but if I take them first thing in the morning or with a protein shake they make me nauseous. You will find what works for you. I go by trial no error. -
I just want to say how grateful I am. I am grateful for so many things. First and foremost to God for leading me on this WLS journey. My life has changed incredibly. I am nearly 14 weeks post op and I am 21 pounds from goal. Leaving on an 8 day trip to Begas on Tuesday, been so long since I have been on a trip when I was "skinny". As other people call me. I don't feel "skinny" because of some loose skin but I definelty look better in clothes.

can you tell?

Before you know it you will walk by a store window or a mirror and do a double take and wonder who is that person and it will be you. You will eventually see the results. That also takes time just like everything else. Lol. I look at a pair of jeans and think there is no way my butt is going to fit into that. But they slip on and button. Then I take them off and look at them and think how in the hell do those things fit me??? Lol. They are tiny! Shoot wouldn't fit one leg into them before surgery. -
YIKES! Weight Loss Surgery bill came today!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most surgeons bill separately from the hospital unless your surgeon is an "employee" of the hospital. My surgeon has a private practice and that bill will always be separate, they are two different entities. If you have met your out of pocket max that doesn't mean the hospital has to write the balance off....it means that your insurance should pay the balance of the allowed amount, if they participate with your insurance. If they don't participate with your insurance the hospital and surgeon can bill whatever they want. They have no agreement as to what they will accept. That's why whenever you possibly can you should see an in network provider and go to an in network hospital. I work for several surgeons as a medical biller we are a private practice and we bill our surgeons fees separately from the hospital. -

YIKES! Weight Loss Surgery bill came today!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some places inflate their prices but in the end if they participate with your insurance they have to accept the allowed amount less deductibles and co insurance. So even if they bill 70000.00 BCBS of Michigan will give them about 17000.00 give or take. I was in the hospital 2 days. Mine was covered to except I did have a 250.00 deductible that had been met prior to surgery with all the testing that had to be done. -

YIKES! Weight Loss Surgery bill came today!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah what the hospital bills and what the insurance actually allows is two totally different things. If the hospital participates with your insurance and they have an agreement as to what they will accept. My hospital billed about 40000.00 and accepted 17,000.00 because that is the allowable amount. My surgeon only got about 2400.00. And I stayed two nights in the hospital. Anesthia billed 2400.00 and the allowed amount was like 700.00. It's deceiving. Billed amounts and allowed amounts are two very different things. -

5'9" starting weight 289 Surgery weight 229 Current weight 183.4 Start size jeans 22 tops 2xl Current size jeans 8, 10 or 12 depending on the maker and if they sit at my waist or hips I can wear everything in my "old" clothes closet. Goal is 160. Too tall to be any smaller. I may go to 150 not sure yet. -
Protein powder help
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use a ninja blender then if I have to refrigerate for a while before drinking it, I put it in a blender bottle and just shake it up works perfectly. I use Genepro Which is 30 grams of protein for about a tablespoon of powder and I also use U njury. If I mix Genepro chocolate splendor and 8 ounces of skim milk I get 59 grams of protein. Then I don't stress out about getting all my protein in. It's works for me and my Nut approved as long as my other meals are protein also. I have not had any stalls in my 13 weeks post op. Idk if that is why or not but I feared the "stalls" so many people talk about. Grateful I haven't had those as I am not a very patient person. -
Can't stop losing weight

I am sooooo happy!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry I did lose 104 pounds but I should have said that is a total weight loss before and after surgery. Not just post op. I have lost 54 pounds since surgery. I lost 50 before surgery. I didn't mean to mislead anyone. I re read my post and should have said pre and post op. I started "dieting" three months before surgery and went to the gym everyday and walked at lunch times. I was walking between 5 and 10 miles a day. 3 months pre op I was drinking a Protein shake for Breakfast one for lunch and a sensible low cal dinner. No Snacks. -
I fit into my Abercrombie and Fitch jeans today and they fit perfect. Got some really cute shoes today at a Marshals. My husband bought me a new winter coat today. It's super cute and in normal people's size. I walk by the stores in the mall and see myself in the store windows and cannot believe it's me. Lol. ALL of my clothes fit from years ago. I have a whole new wardrobe and I have so many clothes. Everytime my husband and I go to the store he wants to buy everything for me. I have to rein him in. I am so incredibly happy. This sleeve thing works awesome! A few bumps in the beginning and YES I had regrets the first couple of days but it is a distant memory now, I am about 24 pounds to goal but I tell you if I didn't lose another pound I would be ecstatic. I am 13 weeks post op. My restriction is great. No nausea, slides and no stalls. Exercising and feeling great! A whole new me! Love that I look good for my husband again. Having the time of my life and we are leaving for vacation to Vegas and Californina in less that two weeks! Good luck everyone on your decisions to have this surgery, it works and even though some may have bumps in the road stick with it, best decision ever!

Does everyone lose a noticeable amount of hair?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to gaults's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am almost 13 weeks post op. I notice a few strands but not all clumped together. I started on protein shakes the end of May with one small meal for dinner and lost 60 pounds pre op. Since surgery I have been able to get in all my protein and water, I take 30000 mcg of biotin a day (probably an overkill) and I use Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. I am not stressed out and was not stressed about the surgery. I may lose one or two strands a day but no clumps of hair. -
Depression
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to sarahkaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry you are going through that. I was on anti depression and anti anxiety Meds before surgery so I didn't experience that. I hope the meds work for you and you are back to helping your patients very soon. Take care of yourself! -
No problems with any of those either!
