What makes it different? Gastric sleeve versus extreme dieting?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to heynowkc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Here is my take on things. I started the extreme dieting 3 months before my surgery, I drank the Protein shakes and exercised I only ate about 700 calories and took Vitamins, exactly what I do post op (6 months now). I lost weight about 60 pounds before surgery and have lost 70 plus pounds after surgery and met my goal last week. I did nothing different pre surgery as I am doing post surgery. So it can be done without surgery they call the sleeve a tool. I intend on using it in the long run to help me to eat in small portions for the rest of my life to maintain. I too have thought of those same questions. And we can do it without it, it's just an aid. -
Damn did I really do this?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to bfloguy82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Time will heal. Sorry that's all I got it took me about 2 weeks to start feeling normal. I don't want to be a downer but I certainly want you to know the truth. Good luck! -

Thank you....this forum is about the only place I can post pictures, if I do it on FB it seems like "friends" have something to say negative. I personally think they are jealous. Well that's my story anyway. -

Do you miss anything about being fat?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to aSleeveStory's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope can't say I miss one thing!. And I have even found the upside to having a double mastectomy! I didn't need a breast lift! They are done already! -
I am nearly 6 months out also. I have had the exact same experience as you.

HELP How do I get all my protein?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to chip305's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would never be able to get enough protein without my protein drink (I cannot eat that much). I use Unjury chocolate splendor and a scoop of ûnflavored Genepro in 8 ounces of water shake it up in a blender bottle and get it really cold. I love it. And I didn't think I would ever stomach another protein drink, but since about 1 1/2 months out I drink one a day, with the two proteins I get about 51 grams of protein. My levels are excellent and my NUT said she didn't care if I had to supplement my diet with protein drinks for the rest of my life. I wonder why some NUT's don't want people to drink protein drinks. All my other meals are high in protein also. Mostly 2 ounces of lean meat and I am full. For snacks I usually have a few nuts. -

Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Dee951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walked on the track at the YMCA about five days after I got home. The more I walked the better I felt and got my energy back quicker. -

Thinkingthinner1109 replied to downsizingdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if I was supposed to but I took small ones about 2 months out. I could not crush Meds or take the liquids. I split the bigger pills. -

How often do you weigh yourself?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Jazmundo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When was in the losing period I only weighed once a week, because I used to like to see that big drop in my weight. Now that I am trying to maintain I weigh everyday! -
What does your restriction feel like?
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Chuckie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I learned before my surgery to stop eating when I felt full. One of the best pieces of advice my NUT gave me. I don't hurt or get backed up. I just push away the food when I feel full. It works great! -
Having a bad day 6!
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Jennifer4775's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mood swings big time the first couple of weeks. Then things got better! I was pi$$:$d at the world, mostly myself for getting myself into this situation that I felt I needed to have surgery to get out of, had my surgery on 8-25-14 and have never been happier. Just know it will pass in time! -

Thinkingthinner1109 replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 100 percent of my excess weight and my surgeon said I would most likely only lose 60%. You can defy the odds. Stick with your program. It will come off. I had no stalls at all not even at the dreaded three week mark. Steady weight loss. -
Getting vitamins down
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Diane Grimm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crushing medications DID NOT work for me. No matter what I put them in it made me gag. I was finally allowed to swallow pills and my life got much better. -
Biotin how much are you taking
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to mishelcrz88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I take 30000 mcg of biotin a day. Lol. Probably overkill but I DONT WANT TO LOSE MY HAIR. Have had cancer and I freaked out about the possibility of losing my hair. I have not lost any except a couple of strands. Actually I lost more before surgery because I was eating like crap. -

Dizzy.....for weeks. Fainted tonight.
Thinkingthinner1109 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So last week I met my goal. I am still losing which is ok. I will have a buffer then. I am afraid I am developing an eating (or not eating) disorder. I have my fitness pal calories set at 800 and I will not let myself even get close to 800. I get all my water and protein in everyday. Just had my labs drawn last Saturday and they were all good. Iron was a little low so I started taking an iron pill. I have been dizzy for a few weeks. I sometimes have to hang on to furniture to regain my steadiness. Tonight when I was going into the bathroom I fainted. Not all the way. My legs shook uncontrollably and I slid down the wall to the floor. I didn't actually fall over fainting, but I could tell I was out just for a split second. I am getting a bit concerned. I think I may not be getting enough calories, but I refuse to eat anything that will make the scale go up. I think I will freak out if I see the number climb on the scale even a little bit. I have an appointment with my surgeon in another week and a half and will talk to him then. Did anyone else experience anything like this? And if so did you ever figure out the problem? -
Dizziness
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to kimdlawson06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty much the whole time yes, on and off. But I can tell you the last two months it seems to have been getting worse. I will be talking to my surgeon in a week and a half to get his thoughts. . Good luck and I hope yours gets resolved quickly. -
Has anyone actually gained the week after surgery?

Dizziness
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to kimdlawson06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am five months out and I have been dizzy, however tonight when I got up to go to the bathroom. I had to hold on to the wall and I believe I actually fainted. I felt my legs start to wobble and kinda slid down the wall. I am at my goal as of last week and I am having a hard time eating enough food to maintain rather than lose. -

Comfort Items
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to GingerLeAnna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The blanket that my son made me which I take everywhere I go . Even on airplanes. And my iPad. We're my comfort items. Along with my husband who spent the two nights in the hospital with me in case I need anything before the nurses could get there for me. He bought them all donuts and cookies I think he was bribing them.
