How Fast do the weight come ofg
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to toohot74akaelh2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish I wouldn't have told people at work, when I left work just before my surgery one of the girls said to me....next time I see you you will be skinny. Lol. I said I am having part of my stomach taken out NOT liposuction. I told them you probably will not see a difference in me in two weeks. Lol. -
August Sleevers Check In

You are not a Debbie downer. I am so anxious about going to the doctor today because if I don't lose it's going to send me downward to! After all we have gone thru you certainly would expect the scale to go down. Yes you probably should out the scale away too. . I was hoping to weigh more frequently so I could feel good about what I did to myself. I was losing faster on my own. Lol. I had lost nearly 60 pounds since May 31st with diet and exercise. I am trying to not be hard on myself but holy cow! -
i need help....
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to vanessa012287's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vanessa, I weighed myself 4 days after I got home and gained 6 pounds. Oh dear I was messed up and depressed that whole day. From that point I decided I was not going to weigh myself. I had my sleeve on August 25th. I have been walking as I feel better, yesterday I was up to 3.5 miles but at the beginning after my surgery I was lucky if I got a half mile to a mile a day. And the first couple days it was the length of the hospital hallway. Today is My post op appt with my doctor and that is when I will weigh. I can't do the roller coaster of emotions so I will only weigh at the doctors office also. I don't want to experience the stalls either. Best of luck and put away the scale. It is better on our mental health. We can do this.... I was really hard on myself doubting my decision just a whole myriad of emotions. Things get a little tiny bit better everyday and I can say I am NOT 100% but it gets better and sometimes I feel good one day and the next day is a bugger so don't be surprised if that happens too. -

Was anyone given insulin in the hospital even IF you were not a diabetic?
Thinkingthinner1109 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Find this very strange and called my doctors office when I got home and the nurse said she would have to check into it but I never got an answer back from her. So after my surgery while I was still on Dilaudid the staff began talking about taking my blood sugar, I am not a diabetic. My blood sugar when I went in was 96. They took my blood sugar several times and gave me insulin twice. When I asked the nurse he said....we monitor blood sugar closely, then I probably pushed my button on my pain pump and went to sleep. But I did question them again and got no answer. Nothing was ever mentioned pre op by either my doctor/the nurse or my NUT about them doing anything like that while I was in the hospital. I just found it really strange. On my discharge papers it also mentioned that my diabetic medications would not be ordered upon my release. Lol. I didn't have any diabetic medications because I am NOT a diabetic. I have a post op appt tomorrow and I just wanted to know if anyone else had this same situation? Thanks for the input. -

Rogofulm....well said. And when my psycological eval came back for my surgery the first sentence said.......Ms. Bahm is a highly intelligent, intellectual person.......I didn't feel so much like that after I had my surgery and the issues that went on. I actually felt like a big dummy like I didn't try to educate myself. When in all actuality I did educate myself or so I thought! -

August Sleevers Check In
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Post op day 8.... No incision pain. Yay! I have less energy today, feeling pretty good I have half of my protein in for the day, wiring on getting some water down. Walked this morning about a mile, going to head to the Y this afternoon. I can tell that I will have to eat several small meals when the time comes because I do get full so fast even on the protein drinks but I am hungry 2-3 hours later. This is all one big adjustment, good luck all the August sleevers! Hope all is going well for you! -

Thinkingthinner1109 replied to alyce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Michiganchic, yes I will give it time. Even though I was heavy at 289 and 5'9 inches I still had energy. I was at the Y everyday walking 5-7 miles and lost 60 pounds since May 31st. I have resumed my walking and I am up to about 2 miles a day it just wears me out. I am sure things will get better. Post op appt with doctor is tomorrow. I am hoping the scale is lower than my pre surgery of 229. -

Thinkingthinner1109 replied to Melanieada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definelty awesome to see so many people are doing great with recovery! Bless you all! I unfortunately was not one of the lucky ones. But it gets better day by day. I am 8 days post op had my sleeve 8/25. Yesterday I did get all my protein in just not all of the water. I walk almost 10000 steps a day, can't wait to get back to my 20000 pre surgery. Best of luck to everyone. -

Starspring it just seems like it's something new everyday. It is defeating sometimes. This evening the pain is a little better so I am hoping this is a turn around for me, at least with the pain. When I go to the doctor Wednesday I will go over all my other issues with him also. . Thanks for the encouragement. It is so much appreciated. -
Starting my journey
Thinkingthinner1109 replied to shellyd88's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish you all the luck in your journey. I am so sorry about the non supportive friend. I find that very sad. You keep trudging along the way and yes we are productive members of the society. I wonder why that doctor ever said that. There is a lot of helpful information on these forums! Best wishes and welcome. -

Thinkingthinner1109 replied to alyce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh the applesauce idea sounds like it may work. Yes it has been rough and you used regular Gatorade? I may have to do that just to get by. I certainly do not want to end up back in the hospital dehydrated. I don't wish any of this on anyone, I am looking forward to being out a little further in the process so i won't dwell so much on all the negatives that have been going on for me in the last seven days. Oh and the other thing is I got on the scale 4 days post op and gained 6 pounds. Lol that was really depressing and didn't help matters any. I refuse to get on the scale until I go to the doctor on Wendesday. And I pray there is some kind of weight loss. Because I was so embarrassed of my measurements I didn't take them before I started losing weight back at the end of May and I wish I would have. -

Thinkingthinner1109 replied to alyce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a horrible 7 days I am only 7 days post op also. I have had burning incision pain, just plain pain, I was allergic to the hydrocodone and had vivid dreams/nightmares and it gave me migraine headaches. I have cried everyday since I have had my surgery. Doing my best to walk and sleep. I don't know who said anything sarcastic it certainly was not me! I can't get in enough protEin or water. The calcium and vitamins I am taking upset my stomach. I cannot stomach crushing my meds and have had to discontinue some of them. I thought I had the beginning of a UTI yesterday which made me even more miserable. So anyone that thought I was being smart by putting lol has a huge misconception. I am miserable and I feel for anyone going through this process it is VERY difficult. You are all in my prayers and I pray that God keep you in the palm of His hands and heal quickly. -
