Yay, congrats. I don't remember anything until about 8 hours post op and remember very little of the first two days. So glad to hear that you are awake enough to write.

@@resipsa89 Thanks, I think you are right. I am off pain medications and doing well with Tylenol. And the food aversion is only temporary. My husband made brats last night and they smelled very good. I used to think it sounded so gross to puree food but if I was on puree, I would have blended up one of those brats last night. LOL -
Having surgery is still sinking in.
*Lexie* posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Wednesday and it's still sinking in. I told myself that I would never doubt my decision and I haven't. I knew there'd be some discomfort for a short period of time and I consider my recovery as typical. It wasn't a breeze but it wasn't unbearable. Every time I remind myself that I'm on the other side, I get giddy with excitement over what's ahead of me. I can't wait for my clothes to get loose and fitting into smaller sizes, to have more energy and to get in great shape. -

Here's what I don't understand. I've read a lot of posts on gas pain and yet my doctor's office didn't really bring it up as an issue. I even asked in my pre-op class and they just said no one complains about it. So on surgery day when my surgeon came by to see if I had any questions, I asked about gas. He said that it shouldn't be an issue because they extract the gas out when they're finished. And by golly, no gas pains for me. So why don't all doctor's do this? It's clearly causing a lot of pain. -

@@Jon1111 Oh, I had not one second of buyer's remorse. I was simply saying that it's hard to believe I finally had the surgery. The past week sucked but I expected it to suck and promised myself I would never second guess my decision. I have not done that for even a second. That being said, I hope the scales show me some love soon. -

@@Boopgwee I was feeling stuffed and miserable yesterday after getting in all my Protein and the doctor's office called today and told me to cut back so I don't feel that way, I just may need less in the beginning. That might work for you. Take it very slow and make sure you sip. I've taken a few big drinks and I feel it going down and it's not pleasant. @@lose4life2 I have been enjoying nap time as well. -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!

You should be able to take Tums (or generic Tums) and it will give you magnesium. I think it's caltrate but my dietitian said it's the same thing. I have a stash of Tums in every room because i had so much heartburn pre-op. I plan to just take a few of those a day and they taste good. Did you ever think you'd be so excited for eggs and mashed potatoes?? LOL I am like 5 days post op but I can tell that food is starting to sound good again. I'm sure by the time I get to 2 weeks, I'll be as excited for some eggs. -
What was your first soft food?
*Lexie* replied to JCP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 5 days post op but some things are on my full liquids that are probably more like soft foods. This morning i had oatmeal for the first time. I used 1 T of oatmeal and made it watery. I feel like I ate a whole pie, very full. I think I'm going to try a yogurt for lunch. Was never a fan of it but I'm hoping my taste has changed. -

@@Boopgwee What are you eating when you get cramping? Seems like most of us are either on clear liquids or full liquids at this point. I am cutting myself off the pain medication today. I'm still pretty sore but I'm pretty sure that my lack of bathroom action is due to the pain meds. I'd rather be sore than not be able to go to the bathroom. The past few days I've gotten out to the store and walked around but got tired pretty quickly. I think I'll take the dogs out for a few short walks today and burn a few calories. -

Don't stress about it because you might not even want fried foods after. I was all torn up about giving up my diet soda. I'm only 4 days post op but haven't even thought about wanting a diet soda and I don't think I've ever gone 4 days without one.

I bookmarked your site so I can visit regularly. I had my surgery just a few days after yours so it'll be interesting to follow your journey.

Oh, I would be very frustrated by that news. Will you have other insurance? I read a post on here where someone said that their insurance didn't cover the surgery and she signed up for different coverage on the Obama Healthcare site and it covers the surgery. Not really sure how it works but might be worth checking into.

@I will what I want is so right. I'm only 3 days post op and this is so much easier than the pre-op diet. I fell off the wagon so many times during pre-op but now there is absolutely no temptation or thought of eating something I'm not supposed to have. It's a great feeling.

@@Rovobay I think you are right. Each day gets a lot better. Last night I had a dream that I forgot I had surgery and took a big bite of something and swallowed it and then remembered and panicked. Crazy! I am very thankful that I have absolutely no appetite, I'm not even tempted by food around me. Sort of turns my (tiny) stomach to think about eating. -

@@waitingtoexhale Congrats, I hope everything goes smoothly today. One word of advice to anyone pre-op, do not try to avoid the pain medication. That turned out to be a big mistake and my poor hubby had to go out at 4am to get my script filled. I was lucky, no gas pains at all. My stomach feels like Jillian Michaels gave me a personal ab workout for like 45 minutes. Just sore muscles really. The surgeon said they also repaired a hiatal hernia while they were in there so that makes things a bit more sore. I know each day will get a little easier and I'm so glad to be on the other side and not scared of the unknown. It's totally worth it. All of you on this site gave me tons of courage and I really appreciate it. p.s. Just the idea of food kind of disgusts me. It's hard work just to sip a Protein shake and Water. -

They are checking me out of the hospital as I write this. I'll say more once I get a little more energy.
