Did having surgery cure your sugar craving?
*Lexie* replied to Brenew's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There are a few things that are so rich that they make me sick (cake and ice cream), otherwise, still love sweets. But surgery makes it easier to resist. -
Exercise and diet regimen
*Lexie* replied to ThruChristICan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you have a good plan for the diet. As for exercise, depending on your fitness level, I would suggest to start with 20 minutes a day on most days, something like walking or elliptical. And then every few weeks, add 5 minutes. The main goal is to start sweating and burning calories. I started pre-op with walking for 20 minutes and sometimes I would do the elliptical for 5 minutes of that time but couldn't do much more. This morning I ran 4.5 miles. -

I absolutely cannot make up my mind!
*Lexie* replied to ==='s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, it's unusual to find someone that wishes they didn't get surgery. I have had a lot of issues with not being able to tolerate foods and I'm still throwing up regularly. Before surgery, I would rate throwing up as one of the things I hated most and would avoid at all costs. I still don't enjoy throwing up but I think I've gotten used to it and I know it's not going to last forever. I absolutely cannot drink anything while eating or I'll get overfull and definitely throw up so it's not even tempting. Even with all that, I would do it again tomorrow. No regrets. For the first time, I feel in control of my weight. Best of luck with whatever you choose. -

How much food could you consume 6 months post op?
*Lexie* replied to Josefina1210's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For me it depends. Sometimes I can only eat a few bites of food and other times I'm surprised at how much I can eat. In general, I'm around the 1/2 cup mark. -
What it feels like to be a VIP and getting into this Lounge....
*Lexie* replied to Rovobay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Does being a VIP mean I'll lose weight faster? Just saying... -
Forgot to post my starting weight on Monday. It was 190.

Being nervous is normal. It's true that it's permanent and it's a big decision. I've had so many times where I've wished I could go back because I miss eating big meals. That's when I realize that I'm thankful for my surgery because I know I would have never gotten this far without it. Change is scary but it's worth it.

Congrats! It'll be here before you know it.

I'm in! Thanks for taking over. My goal is going to be 180.

Beware emotional and binge eaters.
*Lexie* replied to debsbax's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've been going to post op classes at my surgeon's office and right now I'm reading a book for that class that's really helpful with emotional eating. It's called Eat Q, check it out on Amazon. It's very practical and though I'm not "cured", it's definitely helping me. -
Fantastic post, loved the details. And I love those guns you are packing! I need to add more strength training to my workout schedule.

Day late on this - current weight is 191

I remember feeling exactly the same. I've been a slow loser and it took me a while to come to peace with that. I lost 14lbs my first month and never lost more than that in a month. But I'm at 6 months and over halfway to my goal now. My loss is slow but steady and I'm seeing results. You will too.

Wondered when it would come "ONEDERLAND"
*Lexie* replied to Mocha2871's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on hitting onerland! I'm in a class with the psychiatrist at my surgeon's office that helps build good skills post op and we're reading a book that provides all sorts of tools to deal with emotional eating. The book is called Eat Q and I don't normally like self help type of books but this one is really good and I'm seeing positive changes in my ability to control snacking. -
I just realized that Weight Loss Surgery has ruined my life.
*Lexie* replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
On the bright side, we could handle the food deprivation on Survivor a lot better than the people that haven't had WLS. Seriously, who's watched Survivor and secretly thought it would be a great diet plan??? @RJ'S/beginning I have swam with dolphins and it was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had. I plan to ride a horse on the beach this December in Hawaii but probably more like a gelding vs a stallion. LOL Stallion does sound cooler. -
I don't but that's because those type of foods are all carbs and I'll be starving in an hour after eating them. I stick to an egg or Protein shake.

Anyone used/using BannerGateway-Gilbert, AZ?
*Lexie* replied to MoMo12onTheGo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No but I used to live in Gilbert, near the mall. I don't think that hospital was there when I lived there. My son was born at Banner Mesa. Loved that place. I know this sure didn't answer your question but I couldn't help myself. Best of luck. -
I think I finally found my push to a better diet
*Lexie* replied to chunkyloverlovesyou's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Here's a book I read about the same topic. It was so difficult to read that I had to put it down a few times. I switched to local organic meat where I could actually visit the farm to see the conditions. It's more expensive but worth it. http://www.amazon.com/Slaughterhouse-Shocking-Inhumane-Treatment-Industry/dp/1591024501 -
