    OOH! A new forum!

HI! I'll be 45 this year. I have a son 17 and a daughter 12. Been married 19 years. I live in So Cal and bake, create, decorate fabulous wedding cakes. Believe it or not, that's not my weekness. I and my whole family are sick of cake. I was hoping to be banded soon but my insurance requires a 6 mo. diet. I have 5 more mo. to go. I love this website and tell everyone I meet (who are getting banded) about it. Can't wait!

    So CAL Bandsters

Hi Lake Forest! I'm in Laguna Niguel. I'm waiting surgery approval. I'm 1 mo. out of my 6 mo. required diet. I'll be interested in how you are doing since you will be about 6 mo. or so ahead of me. What Hospital did you go to and how was your experience?

BCBS 6 month required diet-need advice

When I first looked into lapband surgery I was told that my Insurance would cover it 100% (Great-West). I was so excited and did everything I needed to do to start the process, then I'm told I need 5 years history of BMI equal to or greater than 40. Since I didn't think about surgery 5 years ago I never went to a doctor unless I was ill. Needless to say I have very little on weight documentation. I do have 3 documentations from my old doctor stating my weight right at 40 BMI starting January 2003 and going well over 40 BMI in 8/06. Plus I have current records for the past 2 years from my PCP. Does anyone think this is sufficient? Also I need to do a 6 mo. suppervised diet :mad: Going from thinking I was 100% covered to well, just jump through these hoops first, has really bummed me out. Any tips on making sure I do 6mo. diet correctly? My PCP has never done this before either. Thanks for your help. I really admire everyone who has educated me on the lapband. I know more than my PCP does. It's kind of weird.

    "Know-It-Alls"......bug me to no end

okay....my first newbie stupid question....I'm so excited! What exactly is PB and NSV because I've always thought it might be Post Barfing and Never Stop Vomiting. Am I right? I can't wait to know it all. I'm serious!

    Another Newbee!

I'm waiting to be banded too! I finally have an appointment with....I'm not sure who, but they approved my insurance and I guess I'm considered a new patient. I have been looking into this for several months and once I made the decision that this was the right thing for me, it can't happen fast enough. I've really enjoyed this forum and have learned alot!!!!! Some of you are very funny and I have appreciated the honesty. My sister in law had lapband surgery 3 years ago and tried to convince me to do the same. At the time I felt weight loss surgery was for the weak and I was just going to tough it out and lose the weight myself. I've only gained 30 lbs. since then. LOL! I have realized through reading everything I possibly can from this forum that people who have had lapband surgery are some very tough individuals. It makes me proud to think that I could count myself as one of them some day. (soon I hope). I know now that being banded is really hard. I'm sure I will work harder for this than anything I've ever done, and I'm up for it! I know I will probably cry after surgery and miss food, I know I will probably barf at a restaraunt as I get familar with what I can tolerate. I know there will be bad days and I may have thoughts that maybe I shouldn't have done it. I know I will be afraid....afraid of success, and I know now that this will all be normal, because I've read it all here. Thank you all for your strength and for encouraging one another.

    So CAL Bandsters

I'm in Laguna Niguel. Have an Appointment with Dr. LePort's office on Nov.15th. Picked him because he accepted my insurance and will have my surgery at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital. I'm really excited! This will be my first post ever! It's almost as scary as deciding to be banded.
