Starting over, 5 years after surgery
ArcherGrl replied to TheCurvyMermaid's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So I had my fill today. Was expecting a lecture, but none! Actually forgot what some restriction actually felt like sicne it has been 10 months since my last fill. Had less in my band than I thought which was good news to me. Thought I had 4cc and I actually had only 3 which made me feel a little better. I know 7 is too much since it makes me very sick and now i know 3 is not enough. This is day 1 of the do over! -
Dumb question here...What is MFP??

Starting over, 5 years after surgery
ArcherGrl replied to TheCurvyMermaid's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! Am I glad I found this thread!! I thought I was alone in this struggle and no one else had these problems. Came back to this site after a very long time to find the inspiration to face my doctor on Friday. Thank you all for sharing!!! -
I am on day 3 of the 5 day pouch test and suprisingly... I am NOT hungry!! Maybe it is the additional Protein? Maybe it is my mind set? Well what ever it is...It is just gonna help me re-start this band life. (kinda fell off the wagon for about a year now) Just had to share!

Post op 7 years anniversary
ArcherGrl replied to PotterA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I second the original post! 5 years post op for me and have regained 3/4 of the weight I lost. But on the upside...going back to doctor this Friday to discuss starting over. Calling it my Mulligan -
I too am starting over! Gained all back after a having all saline removed last year and only a small re-fill done. Decided to get over it and call my doctor. I feel ashamed to go back, but gonna put on a stiff upper lip and get that fill, eat right, excersise and pay attention to my body. I fell off the horse but gonna get back on!

I also have the band in January 2008 and have re-gained 40 of the 90 I had originally lost. I "started over" last week. I went back to the basics of the lapband and am taking it one day at a time. I also joined WW with my husband which encourages us to track every single bite. We can do this! Take a deep breath and start fresh with positive thinking!

Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread
ArcherGrl replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just started back at WW. The only person I told about the band is the group leader. I wanted to know how to eat all the points AND have everything to be band friendly. I find I have to eat some hight point value foods (Cliff bars) early in the day but have allready lose 5.4 lbs in the one week I have been at WW. I think it has alot to do with the tracking of everything I put in my mouth which I had stopped and some weight crept back on. I am doing the 5-day pouch test but I am tracking everything and still not very hungry. My motto this past week has been IF I BITE, I MUST WRITE! -
How much are you paying for a fill self pay
ArcherGrl replied to Want To Be Thin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My self-pay fills were free for the first 6 in the first year. Now if I need one, it is only $60.00. Have not needed one for just over a year now, so that price may have gone up. -

Gonna do 5 day pouch test tomorrow...
ArcherGrl replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Started the 5-day pouch test today myself. I stocked up on protein drinks and various soups. The "lumpy" ones I plan on pureeing and I tried to choose ones that were not too high in carbs which consisted of reading just about EVERY can the store had. I also would like some suggestions that might be floating around for both the liquid stage and the "soft" days (3-5). -

Messed up and regained 50lbs!!! Need help starting over
ArcherGrl replied to LittleRed30's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Came back to this site to get back on track! Regained 40 of the 85 I lost and feeling like a horrible failure. So I am back. I have not seen my doctor for over a year now and feel embarassed to call her. I know I have restriction, just have learned to "eat around" the band (drinking too). My plan of attack is to start listening to my body and just starting over. I know it is not going to be as easy as it was in the beginning, but am ready to start the journey again. Thank you all for the posts..it is reasuring to find that I am not alone in this situation. -
I'm in! Sounds great!

I also need to get re-motivated! I had to have a complete un-fill in June and have been going in for regular fills since but CAN NOT get my groove back. Getting very dicouraged again since I am gaining instead of losing. I know what i need to do but just keep slipping back to very bad habits. I am going back to the basics and starting over! Today is a new day! The sun is up the scale is down! I pulled out all my Lap Band infromation and going to re- read it and begin a new TODAY! So I too am gonna be watching for any and all advise given here.

Does everyone get the lidocaine shot before a fill??
ArcherGrl replied to mommakatx2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The first fill I got was with the lidocaine. Lucy me..I was allergic to it so the after effects were long lasting. No more lidocaine for me but no pain with the small prick either. -
I am having all the same symptoms. First I had a cold and coughed forever and now allergies are so bad the drainage kkeps my band stopped. I fianally caved in and called my doctor. I go today and scared that she will have bad news. But I know now that I should have not waited this long (aprox 3 months). Amazing what excuses we will tell ourselves about the coughing at night and not eating solids. Wish me luck that all I have is a tight band and only a little will need to come out and not all of it.

Not much burping with me, but HICUPS are my problem. With every meal every day.
-
You must be reading my mind! I have spent the past 3 weeks trying to figure out it this is too tight or the elusive "sweet spot". EVERYTHING with the smallest lumps cause me pain, sliming and ultimately I will have to PB. Today was the last straw and I called my doctor. I just want to eat a healthy meal without pain. I don't think that is too much to ask. I have been living on thin soups and protein drinks so at least I can get in my proteins. So it is off to the doc for a tiny unfill for relief. Thank you for the post! ( I have read EVERY post on this subject)

I have tried WW in the past and have always had good luck with it. Have been thinking about going back to it after the 5 day pouch test.
-
2 month plateau for me! I am getting extremely frustrated and discouraged. Made am appoitment for a fill next week and just started the 5 day pouch test. I went over EVERY single thing in my food diary and DID find too many calories in stupid places (coffee creamer = 160/day!) and have sice cut those out. Oh Yeah...back to the gym for me!!! I WILL BREAK THIS PLATEAU!!
-
I was going to post this EXACT question!! Since my 3rd fill, I can not eat solids without extreme pressure in the middle of my chest and then it is off to the restroom. I thought it might be caused because I never had decent restriction till now. But I am going to call my doctor today for that slight unfill. Liquids are no problem but anything solid causes too much discomfort and this discomfort lasts for several hours AFTER the episode. It has been a very long week so off to the doctor it is.

During my surgery the first Alergan band did not snap. The surgeon had to use a second band that WOULD "snap on". All in all, I was under for about and extra hour and have had no problems since. Hope everything goes great for you this second time around.
