Another Newbie and I have a question....
rosanky posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:help:Hello! Was banded on 03/06/2006. Have lost 62 lbs. Right after a fill, I feel lots of restriction, but that soon fades. anyone else experience that? -
Best thing I ever did. I'm 55...had my band 03/06/2007. LOTS of pre-op testing. My surgeon...bless him...does not believe in tight fills from the very start. I've seen people loose a lot of weight very fast and they look like hell! Even though we do all the research and understand this is not a magic bullet, we still secretly hope that we will emerge from surgery with an aversion to the foods we love. Ain't gonna happen! The band does not stop hunger...it's a tool for portion control. A very valuable tool, but a tool. You will have to deal with head hunger and change the reason you eat. All worth it. I say go for it!

I'm stunned. I've never heard anything so, well...extreme. Is that why you think women have abortions? I have never been told by anyone who has had an abortion that they wanted to have an abortion in order to avoid the misfortune of dealing with it later on. Wow. Still stunned. Has anyone who had an abortion told you that was the reason???? By the way, have YOU ever made an offer to a pregnant woman to take her child if she doesn't abort? -

For those that have lost 70lbs or more

I love josiebies's post! I'm taking the same approach as she. Now, I'm a stickler for Protein and Vitamins because I noticed my hair thinning. YIKES! I use protein powders and drink a protein bullet daily. Sometimes I mix the protein bullet in the powdered drink. Right now, I'm not focusing so much on weight as I am on heath. Before banding 03/06/2007, was taking meds for diabetes and hypertension. NOT ANY MORE!!! I swear, if I don't lose another ounce, that is worth the price of admission. We all slip up occasionally, but the key is to put it aside and keep moving forward. I'll never be thin...never have been. I am so proud to have gone from a BMI of 63.7 to 53.6 in 6 months. I've got a long way to go but I am enjoying the journey and my new life! You're going to do just fine wannabthin! -
I only sipped for the first couple of weeks...if that long. When I'm working outside, I catch myself gulping water! No problems so far!
