  1. Colleen, how are you doing after you surgery?!
  2. Thanks guys for all your "pre-op" support! I had my surgery Thursday the 19th and I have to admit I'm having a pretty hard time. Days 1 and 2 were the worst with the nausea, pain and hunger! Today is day 3, and most of the pain is gone from the incisions, however I keep having the worst pain in my upper middle abdomen, which comes and goes. It feels almost like acid reflux with the burping immediately after the pain, but it's different. It's much more painful. I'm thinking it's because I had a hernia repair and maybe it's just really sore?? I just can not wait until this particular pain is gone and I can eat again. I'm so grumpy!!
  3. Nolan's Nana, that's A very huge accomplishment! Towards the last week of my "pre-op diet", I just kept telling myself that I was competing against myself. So I forced the shakes down even if I didn't like it; just to prove to myself that I could. The first week was definitely the hardest. I work for a group of Vascular surgeons doing the ultrasounds. And I promise, you are Doing the right thing!! You don't want to me in my office with Health related problems due to smoking. It's not worth it seriously! So congratulations and good luck!!
  4. Thank you Icyone; all of what you said is so true. I'm happy for you and your accomplishments.
  5. Gloria, I completely understand. I have been the grumpiest and short tempered person not eating. It's the HARDEST thing I've ever done, aside from raising a 19 year old lol. I just kept telling myself the pay off will be so worth it! I have been a prisoner in my own body for 20 years. NO MORE!! I deserve to be happy!
  6. Thanks Colleen and Bandista! And Colleen, I've also been told I've been grumpy. I wanted to tell this one girl at work, "take away your cigarettes for two weeks and let's see who gets grumpy"!!
  7. Haha that made me laugh when you said you ate pickles too! Congrats on losing the 20!! Are you nervous that you won't be able to eat as much anymore?
  8. So I've pretty much followed the pre-op diet, with the exception of a "taste" here and there of certain things. I had a pickle on day 2; I couldn't take it any more. I ate a small piece of plain chicken daily several of the days; other than that I have been following the plan. 18 pounds down so far and the surgery is on Thursday 06/19. I'm just a little worried about not being able to eat large meals any longer. I've always eaten for comfort, so now I have to teach myself to eat to live. I'm seriously considering getting therapy to get to the root of why food has such a hold on me. Anyone else relate??
