Sorry for the long intro...but I think I need to vent a little bit. My husband and I have been thinking about starting a family, probably in the summer or fall. I moved to NJ a few years ago, but I never got around to establishing a relationship with an OB/GYN. I had gone to one in 2006, but didn't like him at all. So, after looking online, I found one that was near my house. I went to go see her on Jan 21, and she did a breast exam on me, and told me that I wouldn't need a mammogram until I was 35. I told her that I have a history of breast cancer in my family, and many of them were diagnosed in thier early 40s. She told me that I shouldn't worry about that, I should only worry about being so FAT! I told her that I was banded in October, but due to a complication, I was rebanded in April. I started out at about 300 pounds, and am currently at 220 (I am about 5'9 with a goal weight of 160). She told me that she couldn't believe that anyone could ever be that big, and how did I ever let myself get like that. She also through a jab in there about how I took the easy way out of weight loss and basically made fun of me for being able to lose weight on my own. I told her that the band for me helps me not gain weight, rather than lose weight. The losing weight part is still up to me and the types of food I eat. She then proceeded to tell me that her sister practices in India, and how people in India are never as big as me and why that is. I just felt really humiliated, and wanted to just run out of there. Since I was mid-exam, I let her finish. She told me I was normal and that she would see me in a year. Before I left, I told her how my husband and I wanted to start a family later this year. She told me that it would be impossible for me to get pregnant and that if I did that it would be extremely unhealthy for the baby and that I should wait a few years and get my weight down to at least 120-130. I'm like..um..hello I'm 5'9, and it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get pregnant??!?!? I just ran out of there and went home and cried out of frustration and anger. Well, anyways, last week after realizing that I haven't gotten my period for 2 weeks, I took a test, and lo and behold...I'M PREGNANT! And, actually, based on my calculations, I was pregnant when I went to go see the doctor on Jan 21. And because of that doctor, I am scared out of my mind! I'm so afraid that I am in danger of hurting my baby because of my weight. I am so afraid to gain weight, and am trying to lose weight. Not dieting at all, but just eating all of the servings of food that are recommended and cutting out all of the junk. Luckily, I don't have any cravings. Only side effects I feel are dizziness when I stand up too long. This has prevented me from exercising, but I am going to try walking (at least 15 mins) if possible. I guess what I wanted to know is if I should get an unfill. I have a 4cc band and I am at 3.5 cc's right now. I feel like I can eat everything I'm supposed to, and I dont' PB or anything. I'm not even feeling nauseous. Has anyone kept thier fill in the whole time? I have already lost 4 pounds, and I would like to lose some or at least maintain the 220 throughout the pregancy. Any thoughts? Sorry for the rambling...oh and I have my first OB/GYN appt with a new doc on the 23rd. Hopefully it goes better this time!

You don't need a treadmill. The workout is made up of four moves - march in place, step side to side, front kicks, and knee bends. There are a few variations on the basic four with some arm workouts as well. I LOVE the walking tapes. They are the first tapes that I could do from start to finish, without quitting. I am currently doing the 5 mile walk, which is a little tough, but not that bad. Once I lose enough weight, I will probably move to something a little more strenous like kickboxing, but I think I will at least stick to doing the tapes at least once or twice a week. Leslie does talk throughout the tape, and there is background music, however after the first time of doing the tape, I just put on my headphones and listened to the music of my choice. The steps are so basic, that you really don't need any verbal instruction.

Hi everyone! I was just wondering if there were any handbag lovers out there. Ever since high school I have been obsessed with handbags, probably because they are one of those accessories that you can buy regardless of your size. While all my friends bought designer clothes...I bought designer handbags (and designer sunglasses - my other love~!) I love the well-known designers - Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Dior....but lately have been buying more obscure lines - Botkier, Kooba, Hayden-Harnett, and Mulberry. So, anyone else share my obsession? What are your favorite lines/handbags?

Wheetsin - I totally agree with you about Fabric vs. Leather. I would rather buy a Leather no name than a Fabric designer bag. If I do decide on a fabric bag, it has to be something totally different, or in a unique color or something.

Actually, the designer stuff can be found a lot cheaper than you think. First of all , I'm a really big online shopper and find great deals online! Besides Louis Vuitton, I have never paid full price on anything. I always use coupon codes, and go through sites like Ebates, that give you cash back for purchases. Second, I'm really lucky and I work in NYC, and go to sample sales all the time. Last night, I bought this fabulous Mulberry bag that retails at 1700 for 499. I know 499 is a lot, but the bag is incredible! There's a Kooba sample sale next week...I can't wait! My husband is so worried that after I lose weight I will also be obsessed with clothes - and our budget cannot handle both bags and clothes!

I was banded on the 15th, and just had my first fill on Thursday...and I feel nothing!!! I was really struggling before I went in for the fill, hoping that I would get at least some restriction, but I feel like I can eat even more now! My doc put me on liquids for the first day with soft to solids on the next. I have been trying to be strict by eating my Protein first - but I am definitly eating more than a cup of food at a time. Should I go back to my surgeon and get another fill this week? My second fill is the end of January, and I am afraid that I will not lose weight if I wait until then for the next fill. What do you guys think?:help:

Banded on the 15th..and I'm in SO much PAIN
NP1978 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! I was banded on the 15th, and I'm still feeling so much pain, especially in my port site! I can't laugh, cough and barely sit up without feeling immense pain...and don't even get me started on my back pain! I've been taking my pain killers as directed...but is there anything else I can do? I am supposed to go back to work on Monday, but I don't know if I will be able to. Anybody else experience similar pains? -

Actually, I'm feeling pretty good! Thank you all for your advice, I guess I just had to wait the pain out. I decided to work from home today, just to be on the safe side, but I think I will go back tomorrow...or at least Wednesday! The bad part is that now i'm hungry! I'm on a liquid diet until Thursday, when I go to see my surgeon, however, I can't stop thinking about food. I cheated and ate some mushy food this weekend. Not much, but a little bit to make me feel like I ate something. :kiss -

Thanks everyone for the replies! I guess I was being overly optimistic and I would be one of the lucky people who felt no pain immediately after surgery. As it has only been 4 days after surgery, i should just try to rest and walk as much as I can. The pain is definitly better since Monday, but I do have to pick up my stomach when I walk to make it more comfortable. I really hope I'm not doing that when I go back to work! -
Well, this is my first post on this forum and I'm nervous, scared, and excited! I met with my surgeon last Thursday, and I have already scheduled my surgery for Oct. 15th! I'm self-pay, so I don't have to jump all of the insurance hurdles, and I'm in the process of getting my psych eval (Oct. 8th) and sleep study (tomorrow). I just have one question...my surgeon told me that I do not have to go on a liquid fast before my surgery...should I go on one anyway? Has anyone else not gone on one, and been ok during surgery? If I do go on one, will it help with any pain? Thanks in advance for your help!:biggrin1:

Thanks for the advice! Also, Congrats on your weight loss! I had asked my doctor about this and he said because I was young and my BMI was low 40s, I wouldn't need to be put on a liquid diet. However, I think I will go on one, for a week. If anything, at least I will jumpstart my weight loss!:clap2:
