I found that I used to like to eat between 9 & 12 at night. I find that I have good success by getting up at 5:00 to go walking and then by 9:00 I am starting to wind down and will eat one of those sugar free pudding Snacks than go to bed by 9:30 Good luck I hope you find something that will work for you

Would you do it again or choose another option?
jfc193 replied to BPM's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Originally I was not in favor of having the band. My wife decided to go for it and after losing weight and gaining most of it back we decided to do it on the same day. I would certainly do it again. Joe Frank -
My weight went over 317 pounds and I was worned that I would develop diabeties if I did not lose some wait. Not long afterwards I was drinking tons of Water and I was losing weight but not because I was dieting but diebeties had finaly set in. I also had to use a cpap machine to sleep with. I went on atkins lost 60 pounds my spouse and I went on a cruise where I gained what seemed like 20 pounds in a week and then my run was on. I started taking twice the medication for my diabeties and my health started to fail. Meanwhile my mom had to have both needs replaced and she has had health problems so I could see my future in the mirror. My wife started researching lapband and I was finaly willing to do something about my health. After several months of jumping through hoops with insurance on 9-12-07 my wife and I were both banded. Even though it has not been easy my decision to proceed with the lapband is the best present that I could ever give to myself. I am no longer using the cpap machine and I am taking half of dosage of my diabetic medicine and looking forward in a couple of months to no longer taking any medicine. Joe Frank

As I sit hear looking at this thread. I realize that the chair that I am sitting on is much larger than my bottom. I can remember when sittting down was an adventure hoping that I would be able to get up without the chair coming with me. I also remember when I drop something and I could not reach over the side to pick it up. Now I can reach over and pick up anything I drop and not lose my breath.

I am cold all the time as well, I live in near San Francisco and it will get down into the 50's and when visiting people will open the window to let the cool air in and I have to go into another room. In the office I always wear a sweater. I have to wear socks to bed or I will freeze along with long sleve pagama and full length bottoms.

I have type II diabetics and sleeo apnea. I am taking half of my medication and my sugar went from an average of 240 to an average of 100. I also do not have to use my Cpap machine to sleep at night. I also walk 6 days a week for at least 3 miles sometimes more.

i am staying on plan today because ...
jfc193 replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am staying on plan because it felt great not to gain weight after Thanksgiving. -
I had my surgery on 9-12-07, my first fill was on 10-24-07 1 cc. My second fill is on 12-10-07 For the most part I have restriction, I still get hungry but I think it more head hunger then anctual stomach hunger. My main problem prior to being banded was overeating. Two to three times a week I would overeat especially from the hours of 7 to 12 at night. With the band I can no longer do that. I also get up every morning at 5:00 and go for either a 4 or 5 mile walk. Since I get up 2 hours earlier I go to bed between 9 & 10 at night so it helps a great deal with my tendancy to over eat. I eat my meals very slow, proteins first, veggies second and carbs if I am still hungry. I try not to drink for at least an hour after my meal and with my walking in the morning this has help with the weight loss.

I have an appointment on December 10, to get my second fill. The first fill worked pretty well. For the first time in many years I actually lost weight over the thanksgiving weekend

My wife and I were banded on the same day on 9-12-07. we have had one fill and we are doing fine. Since her sister lives with us they allowed us to have it done on the same day since we would have someone to drive us home. We stayed overnight and shared a hospital room and waved each other as we got up at different times to use the restroom and walk around.

Family members sometimes mean well but may say the wrong thing at times. I know that I told my mother and father an they are supportive. It is important to have a support group and I am hopeful that once you start on your new journey it will be easy to see how faithful you are to your own success.

There will alwayss be individuals that do not understand what you are planning to do. Fortunately my wife and I decided get banded on the same day.

Congradulations my wife and I were banded on the same day. Many of the staff though it was so cute and helpful to have a built in support system. We are doing fine and have had one fill. Weight Loss - Diet Ticker -
