I do walking inside my house early in the morning since it is still dark, and while traveling either in my motel room or in the hotel. Walking is my exercise of choice and have over 440 days in a row of 10,000 steps or more.

    Should I or shouldn’t I get Lap-Band

Do not know if you had the Lapband surgery or not. I had my 4cc Lapband surgery in September 2007. I still have the Lapband and have just over 1cc of fluid. My wife and I had the surgery done at the same time. About 3 years ago she had it removed mostly due to accident reflux. She had the Lapband removed fixed a hernia unrelated to the Lapband, and the sleeve done. She still has to take a pill for acid reflux. I have kept off over 100 to 130 pounds for the majority of the 11 years. Wish you success in whatever choice you make.

    Still Happy!

Terrific and congrats. I have never regretted my decision to have the lap band. Though I have had a love hate relationship it helps keeps me in line.

    LapBand newbie

I have had my band since September 2007 and have had many ups and down. I believed had I not had the band I would either be dead or over 400 lbs. I have never reached my goal but have kept off over a hundred pounds during the majority of my journey. I do a lot of walking and I agree no fizzy drinks.
  5. Yes it is possible to switch doctors. I had to switch due to moving away form a doctor. two other times the doctor either went back to university to teach or retired. One did not care for Current one was a formerly my doctor and he moved his offices closer to me so I went back.

Looks likes it been awhile since anyone has posted. I have gained 9 lbs since August 2018 had once again reached my lowest weight of 178. which for 6 months is not to bad. In years prior to the band I would of lost 50 lbs in a year and put back 70 lbs in 6 months. Still walking at least 10,000 steps a day. My A1C for the second time in a year is at 5.2. Still appreciate that the band keeps me somewhat in line. Hoping to hear from others.

Thanks for sharing I gained about 45 lbs from April 2016 to November 17 so I know what your are going through. I had stopped exercising, eating way to many slider foods, stopped going to the DR. and pretty much stay away from this board. Kept telling myself that I would get back on track and did not seem to get motivated. Well my primary DR finally caught up with me and my blood sugar was out of whack and my a1c was 8.1. The one thing I did notice was when I finally got on track again that it has taken me 9 months to get off the 45 lbs so it seems the older I get the slower the weight tends to come off. As far as a fill go as I have mentioned before I cannot tolerate anymore than 1 cc in my 4 cc band. My Blood sugars is under control and my last A1c was 5.2 so health wise I am doing just fine. Your weight gain might seem like a lot to you and it might seem like your just "trudging along" Just do not stay away and check in when possible.

    Lap Band 11 years out

I had my lap band surgery in September 2007 so I am almost at 11 years. I have a 4 cc band with just a little 1 cc of fluid in the band anymore than that and it is too tight. I am usually a little tight in the morning so I normally have a protein and banana shake in the morning. For the better part of the 11 years the band has kept me from overeating. My problems have been my on doing eating to fast. Meal times are not usually a problem for me I normally eat what I am supposed to eat. Before the band I would eat late at night so I combat that by going to bed by 9:00 pm and getting up at 4:00 to go walking. If I do not exercise I tend to eat a lot more and if I drink with my meal I will eat more. I tend to make more good choices then bad choices. it is amazing to me that what I consider a binge is completely different. Where before I could eat 10 to 12 tacos in 20 minutes. Now 3 tacos in an hour is a binge for me. Congratulations on only being 20 lbs over your lowest weight. I would say that you are in a good place.

Except for a couple a months in 2016 I am back under 180. This is the lightest I been in more than 35 years. Next month I will have had my lap band for 11 years. I do not know if I will ever reach my weight goal I can do much more that I could ever have imagined. Even when I have gained weight I have managed to stop the insanity and get back on the program. While I am not a perfect bandster by any means I do make far more good choices than bad ones. I need to be careful that I do not sabotage my self the the few time that I have gotten down near the weight that I am now I seem to think that I no longer need to watch what I put in my mouth and stop exercising and then I gain some weight back. I am looking forward to what lies ahead and will not keep looking back.

    Disappearing lapbanders

Welcome to the forum I had my Lapband surgery in 2007, and would encourage you to go back to what causes you to be successful. My experience after gaining weight is that it tends to come off a lot slower then it used to. So do not get down on yourself. Lapband is just one of the tools at your disposal.

Am I the only one who loves their band?

Welcome and congratulations on your surgery for next Thursday. It is important to note that no matter what choice of surgery you have you need to have a strong commitment to follow the doctors instructions and work with the tool.

    10+ years later...

Sorry to hear that you are having port pain. I was banded in Sept 2007 and have not had any problems with the Port. Any issues that I have with my band have been because I either had it too tight (Currently have 1 cc in my 4 cc Band) or have eaten to fast. I appreciate the band as a tool. i still have to make good food choices and keep a commitment So I manage to keep off over a hundred pounds for most of the 10 years.

Need advice on getting enough food.

Not sure what kind of vitamins you are taking but for the longest time I was taking the wrong kind of vitamins. Once you hit the amazing age of 51 you might want to look a vitamin for seniors. I take the Kirkland Signature Mature multi vitamin which I cut in half, along with Vitamin D3 and fish oil. Getting my greens in has always been difficult for meas well.

I'm back again after a few years

Wow At least you did not give up looks like your doing well now, As for me my band is still in fine shape but my wife had to have her band removed a few years ago and had the gastric sleeve. In any case we are both grateful for the tools that we have been provided.

I'm back again after a few years

Welcome back I know for me this site is like an accountability group for me. When I stay away I lose that accountability and my weight start to go up. Even though their are fewer Lap band poster than before I do appreciate the fact that it is never to late to restart. My wife and I both got a lap band in September 2007. A few years ago she had to have it taken out for the sleeve because of health issues not related to the band. I carry about 1 cc of fluid in my 4 CC anymore than that is a little too tight for me. My wife and I and some friends did a 7 day Mexican Rivera Cruise in April and I gained a couple of lbs but managed to get that off when we came back.

I have flown about 400,000 miles in the last 10 years and have never had much problems on long or short flights except for those over 8 hours it seems a little tight for a meal or to. Just trying to stay involved with this website seems for me it is a great accountability tool. Seems like I gain my weight when I stay away. I definitely need inspiration as well.

    Disappearing lapbanders

My wife and her friend follow the KETO diet the only thing I find really strange is the "bulletproof coffee which contains MCT oil (a form of coconut oil) and some folks put butter in it as well. Bulletproof coffee is supposed to trigger weight loss by way of Ketosis because of lack of carbs into burning fat, help with cravings.

Am I the only one who loves their band?

I was also banded in 2007 and have had a wonderful love hate relationship with my band. I love it as a tool for meal restriction and keeping hunger in check. Hate it because it’s very difficult to overeat without doing harm. I love It for having to take small bites and am almost always the last to finish. I hate it because if I try to eat big bites or fast then I suffer needlessly. I have 1cc in a 4cc band. Any problems have come when I had more than 1cc. I May or may not ever reach my goal but keeping off over 100 lb most of my journey has been entirely worth it.
