Any Happy Bandsters Out There With 5 or More Years Of Banding?
jfc193 replied to NeenBand's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Almost six year this September with the Band. For me any weight gain has been my fault the band has always helped me at meal times with the quantity. When I have gained weight has been eating after nine at night. Another problem was snacking to much during the day. I also stopped exercising. So naturally I gained weight none of this has been the bands fault. On January 1, 2013 I had made my way back to 250 and have recommitted myself to go back on the journey. I try to go to bed by nine at night. I limit my snacking during the day and I restarted my exercise program. My exercise of choice is resistant band training and walking. The band has helped in that I no longer take metformin, no longer have sleep apnea, no longer have to take pain medicine for knee and back pain. In any case I love my Band and all the NSV,s that come with it. -
Terrific! Keep setting those goals and when get a little down remember this day, what you were feeling how good it felt. I would encourage you to start a scrapbook or a journal or simply print out this thread so you never forget this feeling and keep you motivated through your band journey.

Even though we are all different one of the main themes that you hear over and over is how people are able to stop taking medicine for diabetes. It really did not take to long for me to get off of diabetes medicine.

I had a fill yesterday and was reminded two days of liquids followed by two days of pureed food. After that you should be able to eat food if not as indicated in the previous post you may be to tight and may need to have a little taken out. -
I have been banded for almost six years. I had to have my band untilled two years ago. So I know what you are going through. Gained an additional 20 lbs during the healing process. Band was Ok. I have been taking it slow with the refills do not wish to get overfilled like the last time. Had a fill yesterday and losing weight again. Take good care of yourself and be a good girl

Why does it hurt to eat in the mornings?
jfc193 replied to goal_will_be_met's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Seems like I have always been tighter in the morning. What seems to work best for me it to have a cup of coffee and a Protein shake for Breakfast. -
Only almost 50, wow you are a youngster. Take it from an old 58 year old, It is hard to get motivated. Having the band for almost six years and not at goal yet would be a logical reason to get discouraged. Yes there are those days that I feel discouraged but then even though I gone up and down in my journey. Here the kicker, Nothing else I have tried in the last 31 years has kept weight off not to mention over a hundred pounds. Having been as close as within 25 pounds I got cocky and even though meal time were within most of the “rules” it was the snacking and eating after 9 o'clock that got to me and stopping any semblance of an exercise program I worked my way back up to 250. I recommitted myself in January, 2013 and started my slow weight loss once again. You can get discouraged but please do not stay that way. Do not let the old ways win. This new journey demands a new you. I am not in any way associated or have anything to gain by the following. The SparkPeople website has a lot of videos so that you can decide what type of exercise program you can do if you are able. Go to http://www.sparkpeople.com/ and then to “Articles & Videos” and then to “Video” and there will be many choices some you can do sitting on a chair like the “12-Minute Seated Core Workout” http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/videos-detail.asp?video=42 . “11-Minute Chair Cardio Workout” http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/videos-detail.asp?video=38 “9-Minute Seated Arm and Shoulder Workout” http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/videos-detail.asp?video=39 .

Mine is on the left side about 4 inches from the belly button and 3 inches from my ribs. Port is the biggest scar.

My grand children just laugh when they hear the sounds coming out. They refer to the sound as an Alien. I guess I will be OK as long as I don't start trying to have a conversation. Tom since you have it recorded you could make it your rIng tone on your cell phone. -
Most of the manly men that I know are extremely supportive. Really hard to hide the fact when you lose over a 100 pounds. I have never hidden the fact that for me the lap band was very necessary. Once in early 2001 I was at a conference with a budy of mine and some else that I had met. I orded the biggest Rib eye steak they had on the menu. The other man could not believe that I could eat the whole steak along with all the sides that came with the steak. Unknown to me My buddy bet the man $25.00 that I could finish the steak after I while I picked up the bone and starting knawing on it the man could not believe it and pulled out his wallet and paid my buddy. Know there is no way I can finish even the smallest steak and the manly man like it since I cannot finish my food at restaurants they can finish my food.
