WOW, you should do really well with your lab band Journey. I agree with the others just go one from here. Your just beginning and just remember to keep coming back to this board and follow your DR's instruction. Keep them informed as well through the good and the bad.

Things I did not think about, that losing weight would change
jfc193 replied to kca1fan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My new favorite is ONE SIZE FITS MOST includes me. Since I fly a lot not asking for an extension brings a smile every time I put on my seat belt. Running up the stairs at home without fearing that I might die. Going up stairs without a planing list so if I forget something no problem going down the stairs again. -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
jfc193 replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Two of us at work had to have someone fired which did not go well. So he cussed my coworker and then turned and cussed me out but before each cuss word he added you fat ..... I guess he had no idea that I knew that I was fat. One time when I was flying and had to get to my seat the person that I was going to sit rolled their eyes and groaned out loud and asked to be reseated. Since I never had a weight problem before I got married my sisters blamed my wife for making me fat as if she would tie me down and force food down my throat. Since then all my sisters have struggled with weight issues and thanks to the band am smaller than all of them -

Are there any 50 to 60 year old out there
jfc193 replied to dmh102's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 58 been banded for almost six years and am a slow loser. I do happen to like the benefits of now being able to keep up with the children, ride any ride in an amusement park, not have to take any meds, not have to use a cpap machine, not having to ask for an extension on an airplane and on and on and on. -

I was banded in September 07 with the 4cc band and so far the band is doing ok. The only problems I have are based on my own poor choices. I too left the board but came back in March. Best of luck with your new band

I just do a protein shake for breakfast usually on the run. Other wise I have a hard time getting in all the protein.

I once had a friend who pureed a cheese burger. I was very thankful that I never got to that point.

Almost seven years have never had a problem with a fill. 5 different individuals have given me fills and no one has had a problem finding the port on the first try.

Terrific it is good to get noticed. In my case I have never come across your explanation Normally they ask me if I am sick or dying.
-
I have drank coffee for years and have never had a problem. I do not have headaches if I do or do not drink coffee.
-
Never had much of a problem with hair loss, but then I have very thick hair that sometimes the barber has to thin my hair.

Have not taken metformin for 5 years and get my blood tested once or twice a year and so far my A1C is normal. Do not miss taken meds.

Not bad not bad at all. I wanted to go hunting with my best friend and his brothers but I was sure that they would strap a set of antlers on me and give me a five minute head start. Needless to say I did not go hunting. Keep up the good work,

Terrific, A few weeks ago I gave my XL pull over shirts to my grandson and back into a Large again. Gave some of my pants to my son.

Fought with someone .. having stomach pain.. Anyone else? Help
jfc193 replied to aug13hereIcome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Countryheart2000 it is to bad that your husband does not help. 30 years ago my wife had a hernia repair due to doing laundry and vacuuming to soon after a surgery. So the Doctor told me to do the job while she recovered. Apparently she still is not feeling any better since I am still doing the vacuuming and the laundry after all these years. -
Just had a small taco salad, and ate part of the salad focus in on the meat and refried Beans and the cheese. Never had a problem with Lettuce but rather concentrate on the Protein first.

Oh My yes, I lost most of my weight in 2007 - 2009 and then regain weight back to 250 by January 1, 2013. Came back to the Lap Band Board and had a fill and have lost about 35 pounds since January. I have no regrets at all, Any weight gained has been totally on me cannot not blame the band. Welcome Back.

Thanks for sharing. The meds situation was especially important to me and not having to take meds for diabetes and back pain make the fact that I am a slow loser more tolerable. I agree with Terry, there may come a day when your current loss rate will slow down. If I can paraphrase just a little from the chorus "It's no longer I that liveth, But Christ (and the Lab Band ) that liveth in me. Starting over after almost dying twice and gaining back 150 pounds
jfc193 replied to divaofsongs's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too was banded in 2007 and was doing very well lost over a hundred pounds but the old ways kicked in. I was over filled as well and was having lots of problems but did not want to not keep losing weight. Finally went to my band doctor had a complete unfill and had an endoscopy and my esophagus was dilated and it too went back to normal. During the two months that I was I filled gained about 20 pounds because I was able to eat. Went back to the Dr and had 3/4 cc put in in my 4cc band and gained another 10 pounds. Few months later went back and had 1/4 put in the band because I was still fearful of an over fill. In January After having not been on a scale for about six months I was back to 250 pounds. So I recommitted my self and started my journey a fresh in the next two months I lost ten pounds and in March had to have gall bladder surgery which runs in my family and lost an additional 15 pounds. Had a 1/2 cc fill July, and will probably stay with that amount for quite awhile since it seems to suit me. Accountability is so important and that is why I like this Board. Good luck on your journey. -

any regrets? is it harder or easier then you thought?
jfc193 replied to WheelCrazy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No regrets like others would of like to have been banded earlier. Difficult only in the sense that sometimes bad habits creep in. The benefits have been better than the difficulties. No meds is one of my favorites. -
I told everyone as well, kind od hard to keep it a secret when you lose a hundred pounds. I do quite a bit of traveling with my co workers and they know that I have a band so they do not mind finishing off my food sorta like a bonus for them. I rally do not worry if people are supportive or not even though most people are supportive.

Let me get this right...some of you drink soda? Whoa!!!
jfc193 replied to PrettyThick1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will have a soda one now and then. Normally I will open up and let it sit for awhile have a few sips and the let it sit overnight and may or may not finish the drink. I really do not miss my almost 32 to 64 ounces of diet sodas prior to the band.
