Ready to eat the FURNITURE! @_@

I'm right there with you...on day 11. It does get better...and...my house has never been cleaner...I absolutely can't just sit still and let my stomach dictate how I'm feeling. I've cleaned out closets and drawers and the pantry and the laundry room....
  2. Maybe cooking in the crock pot on day 11 of the preop diet wasn't good idea...the house smells sooooo good right now....sigh. I'm drinking some decaf ginger tea...

Yum. Stay strong girl. But I feel your pain. I cooked several meals for my teenager during my pre op week, so I sympathize with you.

    New and Excited

Welcome to the forums! Just know that the journey to getting to a healthy weight is a long one, this is not a quick fix. You have to commit to the program 100%. I was glad that I had to do 3 months of nutrition and supervised diet as it gave me a chance to feel/see what I was getting into. I wasn't perfect, but I didn't stay off the wagon too long. As far as ins/outs...all I can say is success seems to be more of a mental game than just the physical size of the stomach. I try as much as I can to focus on the positive (minus a couple of what are now funny meltdowns). I chose the sleeve so that I could lead a healthy balanced life. I'm ready to get the surgery part of it over with (next Wednesday). Good luck as you start your journey, you've come to the right place for lots of support and some fun as well! Beth
  5. I didn't really have any choices to make while I'm on the pre op. The surgeon gave me a 14 day plan (which ends when I get sleeved on the 3rd). I'm doing 3 shakes a day, 1 100 calorie yogurt, 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese and all the broth, decaf tea/coffee and Water I want. Not sure if this answers your question and I'd be willing to try again if it doesn't. Good luck!

  11. LOL. If all goes well, I will be able to try a scrambled egg on Christmas...truly a gift after what will be a month on liquids....I'm already dreaming about it. Oh how the times have changed. I used to look for some kind of french toasty casseroley thing to make for Christmas morning....the change is for the good!

    Officially sleeved!

Congrats! I love reading posts like this because I will be going through this next Wednesday....
  14. I'm still on the preop diet so my family supported my decision to forgo the usual Thanksgiving feast. My brother found an invitation somewhere else...which is good. What I'm looking forward to is getting my Christmas decorations up and the house cleaned so that when I come home from surgery (scheduled for 03 Dec) I can recuperate in style!
  15. OMG that is soo exciting! I want to be you in the future! Thanks for posting...

    Just a few questions.

There are proabably lots of reasons for the wide variety in weight actually lost. Many folks are not ready to actually do the hard work to shed the big numbers....everyone CAN be successful by following the plan the bariatric team will lay out. One thing to keep in mind is that everyone will lose in different ways and at different speeds because each body's physiology is different. Work the plan and the plan will work!

    Monday's POSITIVE Post!

Definitely my husband. He has loved me skinny, on the way to unhealthy and now is doing an incredible job of helping me get healthy again. Plus he shares my warped outlook on life and he "so consistently cracks me up"! Extra points if you can name the show the quotation is from....

    Why Gastric Sleeve?

I chose the sleeve because for me it seemed like the most "natural". I didn't like the idea of rerouting the intestines in a bypass and I didn't like the idea of the permanent band/port as part of my life. I also like the fact that it keeps the valves at the top of the stomach and the bottom intact. Oh, and I wanted to minimize dumping... I think each person has to look at what is important to them and along with the advice of their surgeon make an informed decision by gathering lots of information to think about...which it sounds like you are doing! Good luck on your decision...
  20. So this morning marks the start of the 5th day of my liquid pre-op diet. Here's what I'm taking in every day: 3 protein shakes 1 8oz plain/vanilla yogurt 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese 4 oz apple juice 11 0z low sodium v8 juice Broth/sugar free jello/popsicles within reason So it isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I posted on the forum about my meltdown day one...went grocery shopping and was totally unprepared for the rush of sadness...got through it without going off plan and haven't felt that way again...but it was INTENSE! Silly, but intense. I find that I'm waking up earlier (usually because I'm hungry), staying up later and my house is getting really clean! In fact my husband said I'm freaking him out a bit because I'm not a natural housekeeper. We used to invite people over so we would be forced to really clean up...lol I'm still cooking and that makes me happy. I made my own homemade chicken broth and beef broth because the canned stuff is nasty. I'm still cooking for the guys (husband and adult brother that lives with us) and for the most part that is a relaxing thing for me. I put my broth in a pretty Starbucks coffee thingy to keep it warm and drink that while I'm cooking, then I have my shake when we all sit down. I wont say it has been easy...but I am determined to make the most of this surgery and so I'm following the instructions exactly. I've weighed every morning since I started and am down 9 pounds in 5 days. I'm really going to try to stop weighing because I'm worried that A. when it slows down I'll be bummed and B. I don't want the scale that involved the first couple of months after. See I'm a scale obsessive. Whew, it feels better saying that. I think I've written about this before but I let the scale dictate way too much! Either I'm successful so I allow a "treat" or I'm not and I figure nothing that I do matters and damn the torpedoes (order a pizza!) so not weighing for the next few weeks will be better. In fact as I'm typing this I think I'm going to move the scale out of the bathroom altogether. In fact I'm going to go do that right now, because my memory seems to be a little suspect the past few days. But more about that next time. Beth
  21. Hello 270s...it has been awhile. Please don't be offended if I don't stay long...I'm really just passing through!

    I HAD MY SURGERY

Congrats! And thanks for the honest post. I go in 10 days so it's good to hear the good...the bad...and the ugly. Glad you are doing well.
  24. I haven't had the surgery yet, but I was in the same boat as you a couple of days ago. I'm on the preop diet with a surgery date of 03 December. I went to the grocery store and had a total meltdown about what the h e double hockey sticks am I thinking! What if I do liquid for 3 days a week and diet the other 4...and other thoughts about not doing the surgery. For me, it was an evening/nights worth of angst but I shook it off because I have lost weight, probably literally thousands of times in my 50 years. If I could figure it out and do it on my own I would have already done it. This "assistant" that I'm getting is the one thing that I haven't done yet. So for me, the risk of not having the retirement/relationship with my grandkids, quality of life as I get older are enough to continue this journey. But I think everyone has to decide for themselves...and wish you the best in working through your thoughts and coming to the best decision you can for you.
