    Question

Gas-x, sugar free drink mix made in a large container so you don't have to keep mixing individual bottle, and a great attitude good luck and congrats on your decision
  2. My oldest son was teased in the 7th grade for being chubby/ husky, and then puberty hit and he shot up in height, he became king of the hill in school. He is now 6'3" and weighs 190 and is thin. Keep your son active, baseball, basketball, etc. keep him with you riding bikes, walking, etc. Make sure your pediatrician is supportive too. Ours was wonderful and would tell us and our son " you just wait and see what puberty does for you" my son's bmi was 26 at the chubby stage, so he wasn't obese. Continue to be his champion
  3. @slimindown, thanks for your response, it helps. I feel better knowing that full food protein intake will happen
  4. Chava, I am 3 weeks sleeve post op today, and I hear ya. For me I look at it like changing a lifetime of habit into a new process. You are not alone, and venting is a very healthy thing. Be well
  5. Congrats on being so close to your goal weight! My question for you is how long did it take for you to be able to eat and finish your protein? I can drink and finish my shakes fine, but to eat the protein once a day is a challenge. I am 3 weeks out tomorrow an have lost 19 pounds since my sleeve day, lost 35 in the 5 months leading up to it. Thanks

JUNE 2014 POST OP SUPPORT GROUP!

Toofat88 did your doctor instruct you to take Prevacid, Prilosec, etc post procedure? Mine instructed me to take 2 prilosecs a day for 6 months to keep acid production at a minimum. Maybe call your doctors office to see if this is a protocol you should be on as well. Good luck

    Low grade temp

I ran a low grade fever for the first week, then it was normal. Call your doc just to make sure and when you can get an extra sip in here and there that should help as well.

    Leak Survivor & Pregnant

Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your baby! I do not know anything specific but rely on your ob/gyn and you should be fine.
  9. Every morning, first thing. Keeps me accountable. When I avoid the scale it means I'm on the upward track, so I hope I keep on the straight and narrow
  10. I am taking 3 weeks and I also had a hiatial hernia repair. I agree, I don't know how people do it after just 1 week, and I am post op two weeks today, and I am glad I am going back after 3 weeks as I am at the mushy stage and it is very different than all liquids. Had zero issues with the all liquids, but wow do I feel the difference now, hard to get your energy up when you can't get all the required protein in due to moving to 1 soft meal per day. I think today I will only do shakes and fluids just to recapture some energy. This is still the best decision I have made for myself. And I feel I need the extra week to square away my addition of 1 soft meal per day.

    Failing miserably at post-op diet

Kaitlyn, no one feels emotionally worse than you at this point, but physically you must be very very cautious to not do internal damage to your new stomach. As to your friend making you French fries, they need some sensitivity around how hard you have worked, so maybe they can be a bit more sensitive. You are on the right track, so believe in yourself, and know you are worth so much to everyone around you and that you are still well on your way to good health.

JUNE 2014 POST OP SUPPORT GROUP!

I am a June sleevee, the 12th to be specific. OMG the best thing I've done for myself outside of the hubby and kids. I am 5'6" and was 303 in January of 2014 made the mental decision to take a journey for me. Lost 17 before seeing my doc, lost another 18 during the 3 month pre op nut requirement. My doc does not do the 2 week pre op liquid diet if you have lost a good amount under his care prior, so I only had a 2 day pre op liquid diet requirement. Have lost 10 since the 12th, which seems slow but I have not cheated once so I know this is a plateau I think due to now being at a total 45 pound loss since January, so it makes sense. My joints feel amazing, not sure why given I've only lost 10, but I will take it, and I am thrilled with the 10 pounds as I can't think of the last time I've lost 10 pounds in approx 10 days. Energy through the roof day over day, no pain just some tingly feelings at the larger incision area. And I walked today around my local park's area, and walked 1 Mile in 19 minutes but thought it was only a 1/2 mile until I got home and looked up the distance! I am that person who up to 1 week prior had to use the electric scooter at the grocery store, goodness! I'd love to know why the joint pain has diminished so dramatically, so if anyone knows please clue me in too! Oh FYI I have no issues getting in the daily 64 ozs of water and the protein shake requirement as well and also had my hiatial hernia repaired at the time of sleeve.

    That's cheating!

Funny how these same people watch us suffer and fail at every diet, and don't call us cheaters, and then when we find a tool to use with a diet we are cheating, go figure

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

June 12th and feeling good. Was 303 at my highest in Dec 2013, 268 on sleeve day and 259 today day 7.
  16. I know for me it might be a slippery slope as for me I used to start with the, oh I will have half once in a while, then I'd move to once a month , etc then I weighed 303 and knew I had zero control, but a rationale for everything I shouldn't have. I hope I can wait it out a year before a fast food burger trial run but I hope longer
  17. Snow kitten, I know what u r saying. First question, r u having the procedure at the same hospital u work at? If not, you could tell your boss that it is for hiatial hernia repair, and that u will be out for fill in the blank. I am close with my coworkers and manager but this is my business, and I did also have a hiatial hernia repair at the same time, and the recovery on that can be 3 weeks or more.mI also explained that I would be losing weight due to a restrictive liquid diet afterwards to allow the hiatial hernia repair to heal, which is also the truth, as if you google hiatial hernia repair recovery, etc u will see this there as well. Sounds like you are a good hearted person, and I am proud of you for your decision oh my additional explanation when I keep losing weight will be that I felt like I was jump starting weight loss and kept up with it, as keep in mind in approx 2-3 months we will eat normally just minimally, etc. Good luck
  18. Ok, sleeved on 6/12/14 will be 1 week tomorrow have lost 8 pounds so far, why do I keep pointing out "lost 35 before the surgery" as if the 8 I've lost is different and that I feel like I want to prove I could lose on my own too. Yes yes I have lost weight before but as we all know there was no longevity. Anyone else feel almost guilty?
  19. AnnMo47 I am feeling really good, so much better than I had assumed. Pain is now almost non existent, I like my shakes, etc I have found that I do need more than fluids in your mouth, so if I feel really like I need something I take approx 1 oz of plain Greek yogurt, mix in approx 1/4 scoop of my chocolate unjury protein powder mix it and then dip the spoon in yum. It seems to satisfy my head urge for texture. You will do great. The first 3 days are hell, but then it improves dramaticallÿ every day I am happy I did this I can't think of the last time I lost 9 pounds in 1 week thank you so much for asking

    Itching belly from stitches

Oh I hear ya! Sleeved on 6/12 and they used glue but still so itchy starting yesterday!
  21. Odesa, thanks for your post, ok, I lost 35 pounds before my sleeve on 6/12/14, and I guess my pointless point is that I feel different about the post procedue loss, but OMG you are a true inspiration! Be well
