@@Forsythia I picked up a box of chocolate chip cookie dough and then 3 more individual bars to try, chocolate brownie, double chocolate chunk and cookies & cream. If you get individual bars make sure they feel soft else they are a bit harder to chew.

Thank you as I read this subject last night, and today picked up 3 quest bars at GNC, they were buy 2 get 1 free, and I had one and thought it was pretty good, then later today had a nut 6 week post op ćlass and asked about them and the nut was in favor of them in moderation, not 3 a day but one on a day I cant eat solid protein. I have been having solid protein issues but can say after eating the 1 bar I felt great, so much better with something in my sleeve that didn't make me sick. Again moderation is key, but this has helped me get some solid protein in, and should also help with bm too. I picked up a box now that I know I can tolerate the test flavor I picked up.

I too am a scale addict, and decided today to weigh once a week. Kudos to your daughter for being so strong!

5 weeks post-op TODAY and......
Wynnie replied to Faye325's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great job! -
I am 5 1/2 weeks post sleeve and everyday it is beyond tough to get in solid protein at all. Nothing smells good, nothing tastes good, the thought of food turns my stomach aka sleeve, can't get in more than 1 1/2 ounces then feel full for hours please tell me this will pass. I am light headed and dizzy I think due to jot enough caloric intake.
-
Sounds silly but I was worried that I was / would starve. Your responses are comforting! Thank you

Drink as much of the protein shake as you can without getting uncomfortable. Take time in between each sip and do not drink 1/2 hour before protein shake and 1/2 hour afterwards. Sounds like you are doing great with your fluid intake as well.

Hello all, I am 5 weeks post sleeve today and am wondering will my taste for food come back? Also, when I eat protein it sits like a log in my sleeve. I chew until mushy and I do wait the full 5 min between each bite. My taste has changed and smell has as well. I'd love to hear that this will pass

I would say your intake of shakes and soup is great for the 3 week mark. Just also make sure you are taking in your 64 ounces of daily fluids. As to needing to take in more calories for more weight loss, there is science behind this, but at the 3 week mark you can only intake so much. Check with your nut, they will have solid feedback for you and your progress. FYI 17 pounds lost at 3 weeks is great! -

Day 4 Post-op Need Help...
Wynnie replied to Marla265's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I do swallow a Prilosec pill twice a day as ore focus orders. It's small enough but just make sure you do drink with it. As to what I mix my protein powder with, I use either almond milk, or I have also used sugar free drink mix with my strawberry protein powder. I use unjury protein powders as they taste good to me and mix quickly with no lumps. It also mixes perfectly with plain Greek yogurt too. I have also mixed the unflavored one in soup that is no hotter than 140 degrees. You can google unjury to read more. I have also Lund that chewing gas-x pills helps me too. -
Day 4 Post-op Need Help...
Wynnie replied to Marla265's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First things first do call your doctor, as only they can give you the appropriate medical feedback. Ok, day 4 you seem like you are on track for day 4. Do you have protein powder to mix into milk, etc? Relative to heart burn, did your doctor instruct you to take nexium, Prilosec, etc? Call to see if they are ok with you taking this to reduce acid. I take Prilosec twice a day per my doc. You will feel better day by day, and day 4 seems to become the turning point. Hang in there you made a great health decision, and will be healthier for it. -
Just to be clear my doc nor nut told me to follow Atkins, I was simply commenting that it is Atkins like, ya know low carbs high protein
-
Isn't it amazing the differences between doctor's and what we are instructed to eat post op after the liquid phase. Overall to me the post op diet does really seem to resemble Atkins, I.e. Low/no carbs high proteins, but the difference seems to be the fat content.

@@InfiniteButterfly, I'm right there with you, sitting in my second stall. My first was at the 2 week mark and now I'm into my 5th week and viola, no loss, stuck, but like you I keep moving and grooving! Still frustrating to be sure. Also like you getting more calories isn't gonna happen soon, I can only eat so much. -
@@awold0 and @@McButterpants thank you both so much, I feel so much better knowing this is normal

I use Opurity once a day bariatric sleeve chewable. They are approx $30 for 90 which is a 3 month supply. There are days when the taste is too much so I crush them and add them to my protein shake or yogurt, etc. They are only avail online.

Walking is the initial exercise until your doctor clears you for more activity. At the 2 week mark I was cleared for swimming and non weight lifting gym exercise. I use a sitting elliptical an arm machine and swimming and will incorporate an ab machine after the 8 week mark as until then my doc won't clear me for anything over 20 pounds. Hope this helps but ask your doctor first.

protein during clear liquid phase
Wynnie replied to I'mDoingIt!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The protein shake(s) should be part of your daily intake, but ask your doctor as each is different. Also,I did protein powder 3 times a day at the liquids only part in order to get the minimum required 60 grams of protein a day. Did this straight out of the hospital. I am now at the 23 day mark and have lost 22 pounds, so it did not hinder my weight loss, I'm happy with losing approx a pound a day FYI I had to weight loss stalls but made up for it. -
8 Months Out Any Questions for me?
Wynnie replied to slimmindown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Unhappysleever, for breakfast have you had a protein shake? It takes seconds to make in a shaker cup. You have got to help yourself as well to stay on track, or at a minimum see a professional to help you with your food and sleeve regrets. Having some peace in your day and life will work wonders for your outlook my dear. Wishing you daily peace.
