Wow... it gives me so sort of comfort to know that I am not the only one having issues with my band. I have really been feeling like a failure... I a had not been to this site in so long. After I was banded I lost 50 lbs. Then I started having issues and the opened it up... I gained wait. I have got it filled but my eating habits are a mess... i tried a liquid diet and it work for a while... my excuse is that I am discovering more emotional issues that lead me to eating and therapy is tough!!! I do too crave sweets!! a lot!!! I have decided for one to cut all sweets and exercise... I try to tell myself that if I did it before I can do it again... but so far I cannot make myself do it... I get depressed! -

gisellehuet posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I probably should have done a while back... but I keep thinking I am going to be able to find myself back but I just cant do it. I was banded March 14,2008 at 235lbs. I has lost 55lbs! The I got into a plateau... and then I got complications and they had to remove all the Fluid from my band... I was able to eat the way I used to... and I went crazy... I gained 25lbs back . Finally about 2 months ago I got a fill... The first two weeks were great! I lost 6lbs... but then I don't know... I have lost all focous... I know in my head what to eat but somehow I end up eating a lot of "easy" foods... I'm not excercising...and to be honest I am really frustrated with my self... Before losing the weight and taking care of me was the focus... then I started a relationship and things changed... I don't want to blame himbut it is hard to keep up with him.. when he eats so much fast food and eats so fast... I don't want to make excuses anymore I REALLY want to get back on track... PLEASE someone help me... I live in Richardson, TX and I am open to group meetings, or whatever it takes... I need some support I cannot doit by myself anymore...:Dancing_wub: -
Panic Attacks with the Lab-Band! HELP!!!
gisellehuet replied to Stella_Eterna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lateley I have been having the same problem... it seems that I start eating and very soon I need to vomit and I do... sometimes after I vomit the first 1 or 2 bites I can eat a little better and even finish a meal, but mostly I have been throwing up a lot. I had liquid taken out from my band and there are a few good days... Now I am getting worried because sometimes my insides hurt... although I do not have hartburn or the night cough I worry that I am slipping my band or that I am becoming like a bulimic... I really feel bad and I do not know what to do...Because of course I am hungry all the time... Can anyone help me? -

Last Tuesday 5-13-08 I had my second fill 2.5 ccs more.... I think I have a little more restriction but I wont know for sure until a few days since I have been on liquids. They have a hard time finding the port, I think that is the reason that I bruise so bad... I still need to chew my food better and eat slower because I do have periods of sliming... yuck! -

gisellehuet replied to thebonbon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill 4/29 with 3cc in... I felt some restriction at first... what I mean is that I've noticed certain foods that I cant eat like breads. I still have problems with eating slowly and chewing all the way so i've PBed 3 times since my fill. But I am very hungry must of the time. I stop eating because I am trying to control my portion size, but I feel hungry and its frustrating. I have an appt next Tuesday hopefully they'll put more saline in to have more restriction... -
I finally know what you guys were talking about PBing... Its not pretty... It has happend 2 times after my first fill... I took big bites and ate too quiclky... I am learning the hard way... now even I taco I cut with a knife and fork... I still get very hungry even if I know I've eaten the amount of food I should have.. so I am waiting for my next fill in one week..
-
HI, I want to know exactly what PB means. I know its a productive burp but could I get a better definition. I remember reading it in a thread but I cant find it anymore. Anyone knows where I should go? Thanks:confused2:
-
Thank you all for your posts... I will be having my first fill soon and I am worried about PB. I think the hardest thing for me is to eat slower I have always been a fast eater. But I will remember your words when I eat so I don't have to experience a PB or slime myself!

Yeah, Its good to hear we are all loosing... they told me at my docs appointment not to compare myself with others, and I am not. The support and encouragment I get from all of you is invaluable! Thanks and keep up the good work... I have to force myself to increase my excercise... taht is harder than dealing with the food... -
Thanks for the information... I did have it once because I did not chew well a plum and ate it too fast.... I am learning

Trouble telling my therapist
gisellehuet replied to PennyLane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PennyLane, I understand your concerns, but your therapist is there for you and your issues whatever they may be. In addition she can help you later, after the band, when you feel anxious or overwhelmed about the food. I have a therapist as well, and I am almost a month post-op, I can tell you that I have been upset, and I want to go to my old habits: overeating.. My therapist is helping me with that aspect so that I can truly change my life around and take advantage of the band. Don't be afraid... Just do it... We are all here for you -
Any Other Newbies Scared of Gaining During the Different Diet Phases?
gisellehuet replied to Miki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Miki, I am on my second week of mushies. The first few days I was really excited that I could eat different foods and not only shakes and soups. But I was very scared about putting some weight back on. I had lost 19lbs since my pre-op diet. But this site has help me deal with the anxiety about gaining, I have not gotten on the scale but once and I was still at the same weight. I will not weigh myself until tuesday that I have an appointment with my dietitian... I am trying to focus on eating the foods that I can eat and trying to control my hunger that every day is getting bigger (like the Lion in the Lap-band comercial). Can't wait for my fill... Try not to worry abouth the weight, we are starting a new way of life and instead of the number of pounds we weigh we should learn to focus on making good food choices and getting helthy (Its hard for me but I am trying). Hang in there Giselle -
TMI: Constipation
gisellehuet replied to RXTECH8883's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my experience milk of magnesia just gave me diarrhea then I tried dulcolax and it worked better. But the best for me is drinking more water and eating 3 prunes every morning... really works! -
Anti depressent tablets and weight gain
gisellehuet replied to slimmy120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are the side effects of your pills? I take Celexa 40mg even befornd and I did not get weight, and the surgon did not think it would be a problem. I would research those pills and remember it takes time for them to start working. Good luck -
What's go on with me :"(
gisellehuet replied to dosh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One day already on mushies I was very upset and I just felt really hungry I wanted to eat the fridge.. I started eating even though I had had my dinner, so I started with Jello, then humus and finished with Peanut Butter. Although I sticked to food that I was allowed to eat I fel really bad with myself, really guilty for that episode. Then I realized that I had just gone back to my pattern: feeling upset-go for food. But I need to change that.. so Instead of beating me up for over eating I said:well it happened once but it wont happen again.. and so far it hasn't. When I get upset and feel like eating a lot I start drinking some Water or crystal light and try to distract myself. What you did is in the past, just focus for a day at a time... you can do it I know.. Stay strong!! -
mmm tuna sandwich... sounds delicious.. Congratulations... I am on my second week of mushies and I am hoping to go back to real food next week... I have been craving a sandwich since my first week post op.. can't wait!

Stupid people and their stupid opinions
gisellehuet replied to spoodles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only told a selective group of people... evryone else was told I was having some cysts removed thats why I had surgery.... The people I told are totally supportive but I have found out that some of my friendss judge me and said comments that really hurt. So I decided that whatever they said I was not going to listen. This was my decision, I am doing it for me, and I don't care whatever people think. About this being the easy way out... well let see: It took me a year to get approved. During that year I had to try to prove my dieting failures, I had to have a psych eval that made me go deep in the issues that make me eat, i analyzed my life and my relationship with food, i was frustrated once more for not being able to loose weight with regular diet (despite that that proved the point), the stress of all the doctor visits, and what if the insurance did not approved it, all let to a depression I had to deal with. I don't think it is the easy way out. And still now after the surgery we have to carefully watch what you eat, excercise, deal with annoying people, and especially before you have a fill... deal with the hunger!!! ITS NOT EASY!!! The band its just a tool to help us in this journey about changing our lives... because once you decide to have the band we change our lives and our relationship with food forever... -

Congratulions everyone!!!! I was banded on 3/14/08 and counting my pre-op diet until last week I have lost 19lbs!!! I have not checked my weight this week... I am a little scared to gain weight since I started mushies... I know its time to heal and not to worry about the weight... -
weight stopped dropping, on mushies, and ugh
gisellehuet replied to rose_steavie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on my third week post-op and first week of mushies... I am getting so hungry... I still take my protein drinks and concentrate on protein mushies. But I am getting worried because I am eating more than a cup of mushies a day eventhough I was only allowed one... I just cannot stand the hunger I try yo fill myself with water or Jello but it does not help.. Do you guys think I am damaging my band? :S -
Congratulations on the band!!! I got banded 3/14 ANd although I was told I could drive after a week, I still felt disconfort so I did not drive until last friday. I guess it will depend on how fast you feel fine to sit straight and turn your upper body slightly when you drive. While I was home I slept a lot and I think that helped for my recovery, started walking around a little bit, and spent time cathing up in my reading.
