I am 63 years young, and after thinking about and worrying about my weight since like, 4th grade; I finally decided to do something about it. Over the years I had tried every possible weight loss program, Jenny, WW, hypnosis, the list goes on and on. Also, I had spent $$$ on each of these weight loss options. My husband and I are retired and live in Rosarito, BC, Mexico (we love it here), at our regular Friday night pizza gathering with friends I met a new friend who mentioned that if we had met her a year ago we would recognize her as she had lost 95 pounds!
I couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of getting a VGS, so after a few months I got her email and asked more about it, like who did her surgery, where it was done, etc. Her doctor was Dr. Aceves and he ran the Bariatric Surgery Center at Almater Hospital in Mexicali, BC, Mexico.
From the time I requested information, through the application process, pre-surgery diet, pre-op blood work, x-rays, surgery and post-op follow up; the experience has been totally awesome. The team of doctors (Nutritionist, Anesthesiologist, Dr. Aceves, Yolanda and Carla) are rare finds in health care.
Since my surgery on June 2nd, I have lost 12 pounds! BUT the best thing ever is the feeling of freedom I have in knowing that this is and will continue to work. I guess you can say I am " giddy with excitement". Sincerely, I have not been hungry once. I am still on Stage 2 diet, thicker liquids like Cream of chicken Soup, I eat 1/4 cup every 2 hours and sip on sugar free, caffeine free drinks in between. Wednesday I move into Stage 3, puréed foods.
Can't wait to see where this journey takes me.
