  1. http://teddy-tech.com/product/bari-buddy/ I had the moose, not the teddy bear and it was the best thing I took to the hospital biotene bathrobe, so you don't flash everyone when you're walking (couldn't wear pants due to the urinary catheter) i think that's all that I saw that wasn't mentioned. Best of luck on your surgery!

    Hurting when I swallow

did you have a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time?
  3. Sleevarilla

    Help please :(

Just because you *can* eat a lot doesn't mean you *should*. You have to measure out your food and set boundaries for yourself. You won't feel great restriction with the sleeve until you move on to soft foods. Pureed slides through pretty easily.

    So discouraged

so, you think you should be different than everyone else and not have the stall? Have you ever went that many days in a row with very little/no calorie intake? Have you ever shocked your body with major surgery? Add in some patience and ability to understand that this stall is normal and the only thing you can do is ride it out. Be thankful you haven't gained weight because a lot of folks do... me included. Now look where I am.
  5. cool, another chance to do my copy/paste ... but I'll add that what did you expect your body to do after major surgery? This isn't a magical thing, this still takes work. Anyway, here's my copy/paste... (again) AWESOME!! I get to do my copy/paste AGAIN!! Aww.. I haven't gotten to copy/paste my copy/paste in a while!! Thanks for the opportunity!! I'll just copy/paste the copy/paste I did less than a week ago: I'll just copy/paste the answer I gave to someone else less than a week ago who asked the same thing: A search will show you dozens ... and dozens ... of threads about the stall that happens around week 2-3 post-op. Your body just had major surgery. Give it a break and relax and get well. Put the scale away and don't bring it out again for a couple of weeks. Be good to yourself, let yourself heal. Stalls happen all the time, this isn't a sprint it's a marathon.
  6. I was approved with first letter, but a friend of mine was denied. She was approved about a week after a peer to peer review.
  7. My surgeon's rules were: no more than 5 episodes of diarrhea per day. More than that and I needed to call. It's common to have diarrhea post-op, but too much greatly increases your risk of dehydration. Fluid in/fluid out. But, no more than 5 times a day. I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I passed gas. And, once it started, it didn't seem to want to stop ... until the diarrhea started. Learn from me, padawan ... never trust a fart.

    Protein pudding not tolerated

I was not allowed pudding on full liquids. I didn't try anything of that consistency until a couple weeks post op. Just because something is allowed on your plan doesn't mean your sleeve is ready for it. Someone once said, and it's so very true, "Sleeves can't read the paperwork." That also doesn't mean that in a week you'll have problems with pudding. I would put it back on the shelf, back up to only liquids for a few days, and then try again. With you being only a few days post-op, your main focus is fluids. Then protein. And, managing your pain. That's all you have to worry about right now.

    Pre op diet slips

You really should let them know. Dr. Enochs will be going into your abdomen, and he needs to know what to expect. I doubt there will be any problems, but do what you can to make this as easy for your surgeon as possible.

    Pre op diet slips

I'm calling Dr. Enochs and telling!!! I hear a lot of folks cheat. I didn't and I've had a flawless recovery so far. Stay strong, this is the worse part.

    What size is your sleeve?

36fr. The size difference between a 32fr and a 40fr is negligible. There is a picture guide around, if you care to google (use bougie size as your keyword). Mine, according to that chart, is roughly the size of a sharpie (without the lid)

    No weight loss !

AWESOME!! I get to do my copy/paste AGAIN!! Aww.. I haven't gotten to copy/past my copy/paste in a while!! Thanks for the opportunity!! Amazon sells variety packs of them. I haven't tried one I don't like yet - love them all!

    Stalling!

You've lost 14 pounds in a month. You lost how much a month with weight watchers? Or any other diet you've been on? 14 pounds is amazing, and you should be proud of that. So what if someone lost more than you did? You lost more than I did, and I'm not mad at you. I get the emotional upheaval, it's a lot to deal with ... but, you'll be fine. Why does everyone (but me, I never thought that for some reason) think that they will be the one person that fails at this? That baffles me.
  16. Just wait until the pot heads get to fatty status from all the munchies. Then there will be change. I'm not apologizing if that offended anyone. Get over it. It's a joke.

    New SIPS Sleeve Procedure

We have the same surgeon. He mentioned this procedure when we were discussing surgical options as well. When researching, you won't find anything on "SIPS", but google SADI-S and you'll find a lot of information. I chose to stick with the normal vertical sleeve. Good luck on your journey! ETA: Dr. Enochs is a wonderful surgeon, and I couldn't be happier with my choice to have him perform my surgery.

    2 weeks post opt

Be easy on yourself. Put your scale away for the next month. Your body just had major surgery, give it a break and cut yourself some slack. I know it's hard, I understand the longing to see the payoff for everything you've gone through to have this surgery. But, you just have to be patient. Let your body heal and recover. It's dealing with quite a bit right now - not only the shock of surgery, but the very low calories and little nutrition over the last few weeks. It *will* work, just focus on healing now.
  20. Everyone gains in the hospital. As hard as it is, I would put your new scale away for a few weeks. After gaining in the hospital, you have the normal stall at week 2-3 post-op. You may gain again during the stall. Just relax and heal for the first few weeks because your body is going to be adjusting itself to all the trauma it's been put through.
  21. Sleevarilla

    2 weeks post opt

First thing ... be prepared for the normal stall at week 2-3 post-op. Are you on soft or pureed? I advanced to pureed at week 3

    What was worse part

    The pre-op diet.
  23. Sleevarilla

    weight loss rate

No. It just doesn't work that way. Weight loss with surgery is almost never a steady downhill slope. It's more of stair steps ... lose, stall ... lose, stall, gain a pound ... lose, stall.

    Missing the "Full" signal

Also, at my 2 week post-op visit, I mentioned to my surgeon that I was having some issues with acid. He explained that is very common, that my stomach is probably still producing enough acid for a bigger stomach and it just takes time to balance everything out. I will say that it's gotten much better! Hang in there, it really does all get better.
