    CHEATING

My mantra for the entire 2 weeks was "shut up and do it" .. that's the best advice I can give. It sucks. It sucks bad. But it's something you have to do to get where you want to be.

    Bump Beneath Incision Hernia?

Best thing to do would be to see your surgeon ... but, soft is probably a hernia and hard might be a reaction to sutures. Or, it could be neither of those, and that's why it would be best to see a doctor

    Weight and Relationships

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story! I'm sure that many people can relate. For me, I can't wait to be able to wear things that aren't "frumpy", I can't wait to feel like the man I'm with is proud to be with me. Once I find a man, that is! Best of luck to you!

    Surgeon Question

When I was researching, I was told that you don't want a surgeon with less than 350 - I was told that surgeon's aren't really even good until they've done at least 150.

    3weeks post op

Have you tried Isopure or Cytomax?

    Day one of pre-op diet...

Mine did not get better until day 12. It sucked, and it sucked bad. Then, for whatever reason, on day 12 I wasn't as hungry.
  10. Could it be residual gas pain? Are you moving (walk, walk, walk) a lot? Walking, movement is the only thing that helps ... gas is just something you have to wait for your body to reabsorb.

    SCARED!

if you can't stomach full liquids, maybe back up to clear liquids. Try Isopure, 40g of protein in 20 oz fluid. Try flavoring your water with mio or dasani drops or crystal light, etc. You have to fight off dehydration first! Did you get prescriptions for nausea? If you are having difficulty meeting your fluid requirements, you can call your surgeon at any time - there should always be someone on call to help. Even if they tell you to go to the Emergency Department, they need to know what is going on.

    just had surgery surgery

Don't say no to pain meds!! Hang in there, it's downhill from here ...

    Nervous

I didn't want anyone with me in the hospital. I didn't want to make small talk and I didn't want people telling me I would be fine over and over. I wanted to go in my zone and just do this thing already. You CAN do this on your own, you CAN do hard things. Be brave, be strong, don't look back.

    Getting better

It's a hard, hard thing to do! Be proud of yourself!

    Hi

hello and welcome! Hang in there, it does get better! Do you have meds for the acid/heartburn? If not, you might want to contact your surgeon to see about getting some.

    Pre-surgery diet woes

I had two mottos when doing my pre-op diet. "Grin and bear it" and "shut up and do it" It sucks, no way around it.
  17. Wow, second guessing because you're body gained a few pounds after a major event? Everyone gains weight when in the hospital. You were on IV fluids and it's mostly "Water weight". The surgery works, you just have to be patient and let your body heal. This is a lifetime change, not a sprint but a marathon.

    STUCK TOO SOON

Wow, cut yourself some slack, you just had major abdominal surgery! My surgery was 8/20 and I haven't even gotten on a scale yet. Don't let a number on a scale dictate your level of success at this point. Your new tiny tummy is swollen, and swelling is retaining Fluid. You're working out a lot, have you let your NUT know how many calories you're expending on exercise? This surgery works, but you have to let your body heal. This isn't a constant downhill loss, it's stair stepping. You may have a month or more go buy where you don't lose. Don't get frustrated this early in the game, this is a lifetime change.
  19. Good luck! The pre-op diet is rough, but keep focused on the bigger picture and you'll make it!

Monday, 8/25 was the big day

Hello! My surgery was 8/20 and I too had a hernia repair. Almost all of my pain seems to come from the hernia repair site. Still hurts, but I know it will get better. Hang in there!
  21. It's a constant sipping throughout the day. If you're awake, you're sipping something. I use Isopure, it counts towards fluids and Protein. Also, you can dissolve your protein in 8 oz of fluids, drink some and put the rest back in the fridge. Sip some more, put it back. Whatever you have to do to keep a constant trickle of fluids through your system. Can you talk to your NUT about the issues you are having? I was given very detailed paperwork outlining exactly what I could have for the first 6 weeks following surgery.
