I didn't have a bowel movement for a few days and then I had wicked diarrhea for the next five days. It was probably my fault because I took 5ml of milk of magnesia. It seems since surgery I spend a great amount of time thinking about what goes and how it's going to come out.

A search will show you dozens ... and dozens ... of threads about the stall that happens around week 2-3 post-op. Your body just had major surgery. Give it a break and relax and get well. Put the scale away and don't bring it out again for a couple of weeks. Be good to yourself, let yourself heal. Stalls happen all the time, this isn't a sprint it's a marathon.

Post op surgery
Sleevarilla replied to Kaylan.brandes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
my surgeon said colace or milk of magnesia were ok to take... no idea what your surgeon recommends though. -
Clear liquid does not mean no protein. Think Isopure Zero Carb drinks. I did not pass gas until at least a day and a half post-op. No BM for several days.

Pre-op diet...... Destroyed!
Sleevarilla replied to waitingtoexhale's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds, based on your last post, that you just made a post to have people pat you on the back and tell you it would be ok. The surgery may (or may not, it's different for everyone) control your physical hunger, but it does absolutely nothing for your head hunger. You are still going to face the challenge of saying no to yourself when presented with something you shouldn't eat. I agree that the pre-op diet is tough, but you have it so much easier than many do. I couldn't have any food. I think you should at least let your surgeon know, it would be better than him/her not knowing before doing surgery on you. -

I have having sleeve surgery on weds and I cheated last night

Regret is a ridiculous emotion. You did it, now you have to own it. Call your surgeon's office and let them know. I'm betting that they will tell you everything will be ok, but to be sure to follow the diet recommendations strictly for the rest of the time. -
How can I convince my husband to consider weight loss surgery?
Sleevarilla replied to steph1281's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
He is a grown man who should get to make this very personal decision on his own. How would you feel if he pushed you to do something you didn't want to do ... like maybe get a boob job or a nose job? Nagging never works. Mention it, and then back off. If he's interested, I'm sure he knows how to research it. If he doesn't want to consider it, then respect his decision or leave. It's really that simple. If he's not 100% committed to the lifestyle changes that come with this, and he does it only to please you, I suspect that there will be much misery in your future. I can't believe all these posts that are telling you how to manipulate this man into doing what you think is best. Seriously? Manipulation is never good. Look at all the stress in his life recently ... do you really want to add the stress of a partner pushing something he doesn't want? Give the man a break! -
It's probably not true hunger. All of your nerves are cut when they remove the stomach and take 6-8 weeks to heal. Thirst can mimic hunger. Acid plays a big part in what feels like hunger, are you on a PPI?

Worried I'm hungry! ONE WEEK OUT
Sleevarilla replied to gregthegroove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's probably gas and/or acid pains. Your new stomach is very much in a healing stage, and mine still makes all kinds of noises. You could also be thirsty, thirst can mimic hunger pains. Are you on a PPI? I also wouldn't worry about being able to consume 5 oz. of liquids at this point. Your full feelings won't really be that noticeable until you move on to soft foods. Liquids and pureed foods are more of a slider, they just move right on through and don't really fill up much. -
Having second thoughts
Sleevarilla replied to Jezika's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
at 5'3" and 318#, your BMI is 56.3, which is considered super obese. Sever obesity (depending on the study you look at) reduces your life span by 10 years. I've no doubt your boyfriend is concerned for your health. However, this is a very difficult and personal decision. Nobody can tell you what is best for you. What if you fail? What if I fail? But ... what if we don't? Nobody WANTS to do a pre-op diet. In my case, I wanted to be healthy more than I didn't want to do the pre-op diet. Sometimes life is hard, but you CAN do hard things ... even if you don't want to. Good luck making your decision. -
had my gastric sleeve on September 10
Sleevarilla replied to yerrika's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you taking your pain meds regularly? I have no idea if I would have been in pain for the first 4 days or so because I took my pain meds every 4 hours on the dot whether I needed them or not. Where is your pain? Is it gas pains - they can take a few weeks to dissipate, walking helps. -
Congratulations!! Here's to a swift and easy recovery!

How necessary is this pre-op diet?
Sleevarilla replied to Luana526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried the nectar Protein drinks like roadside lemonade? Caribbean chiller? They are not on the sweeter side, and aren't thick like a Protein shake. Also, you can add 1 T. of sugar-free Jello, pudding or even cocoa to cut the sweetness. There is also unflavored Protein powder that mixes easily with anything. Also, unjury chicken Soup is good. My doctor required a 2-week pre-op diet and I did what I was told to do. I looked at it like a challenge, and a hoop I had to jump through to get where I needed to be. It's tough, but nothing about WLS is easy. -
The FitBit takes into account the calories your burn by just being alive. You can integrate your FitBit with MFP, that's what I did and it's awesome!
