:update: The HR lady got my insurance company to call my doctor's office and tell them that I am approved. I have my pre-op testing date on January 30. :whoo::whoo: They will set the surgery date then, probably mid February. Maybe sooner. We really shouldn't have to fight so hard for benefits we are paying for.

I was thinking the same thing but since I have been talking to the same person over and over, I can't change my story now. I'm going to let the HR lady be mean. She is going to call their supervisor and ask for the letter.

Talked to the HR lady who gave me an approval number (a letter was not generated) so I called the new insurance lady, gave her the approval number, she said that doesn't help because it is the approval number for the old insurance :rofl:(Note this is the same insurance company I have had for 20 years but they changed their name and customer service people) She transfered me to the lady at the old place who says she has requested the letter twice and they haven't sent it yet. :hurt They all want to know when my surgery is scheduled. There in lies the problem, can't schedule surgery or even pre-op until insurance approval. :rolleyes I am so tired:tired of telling the same people the same story over and over again. :cry

I called them again today. They repeated the same line of B... they gave me yesterday and told me to be patient that they are researching it and will call me when they find the answer. :hurt For crying out loud, that is now what I wanted to hear. I took her name and told her I would look forward to hearing from her. :angel: Then I picked up the phone and called the HR department of my husbands work. I talked to a nice person there who said she would look into it and call me on Monday. Hopefully she will have more pull that the folks administering my insurance. Not only do you and I have the same ticker, we seem to have the same luck with insurance companies. I am on hold with mine again. Still no word. They will call me when they know something. :hurt Hang in there! :cheer2: I'll try to also. Eventually someone has to listen. Mine has an automated system that you have to get through before they will let you talk to a real person, then you have to sit on hold for 15-20 minutes. Boy, if I offered this type of customer service I'd get fired. :angry

It is great that you have kept it off for a year. I'm not banded yet but I admire your success. My previous diet experience says to start measuring food and tracking your intake. Sorry I can't be more help. Hang in there. You have done great!

Hello February Bandsters. :wave: I am hoping to join you. I am currently waiting for insurance approval. I thought it was all taken care of but because of an insurance name change, my paperwork got lost so I am waiting again. First available pre-op appointment with my surgeon is Jan 30 but I can't even make that appointment until I have my insurance approval.:ohwell: I feel like I am running around in circles.:violin: Glad to have such a wonderful support group here.

They lost my paperwork in the switch. :mad: There is no record that I was approved and we have to start over at square one. She said she did make it "high priority" this time. :speechles I just want to cry but I can't because I am at work. :cry

Where are you having your surgery? Your surgeon may have a support group available.

I guess we have to keep hanging in. I am going home at lunch to check the mailbox again and then call them this afternoon. This is getting quite old.

Apparently not, I asked for one over a week ago and it hasn't come yet. I have a feeling it is because they approved it for 2008 and they won't send it until after Jan 1. Maybe it will come tomorrow.

The first available is Jan 30 and I can't even make it until I have a letter in hand. And it didn't come yet today. I am so frustrated. When that class fills up then next one won't be until mid February and Mar 1 is when my work kicks into high gear for three months. :faint:

I hope the surgeon doesn't think of some other tests he wants done to delay if further. I guess it will come when it comes. :cry I hope you are correct Chrisann. They are telling me that my doc has open surgery dates in Jan but can't schedule until after pre-op class. (Jan 30). I am going to try to lose some weight in Jan before the class to hopefully avoid the pre-op diet thing.:Banane34: Waiting two weeks so I can complete an arbitrary diet would not please me. I'm going to do it before. The worst that can happen is I'll lose some weight that will never come back. I'm already approved so they can't take that away.:whoo: Y'all take care!

Yeah, I called on the 21 and they told me it might be 30 days before I was approved. Go figure!
