    Last day.....to surgery I go!

Patti, That is a terrific idea. I'm not sure I know where to start when it comes to recipes for the stages.

    Finally banded 02.02.08!!

Congrats on your band. I can hardly wait for mine. Give yourself a little time on the weight loss. Your body is still recovering from the drugs they gave you and probably still holding onto some of the IV fluids they pumped into you. If you are sipping Water as you should that will plump up your tissues (as it should) and make you appear heavier in the short term. try to weigh yourself only once a week. If you must weigh yourself, do it in the morning before you eat or drink anything. It's only been a week. The pounds are probably already gone but with all of your liquids it just isn't showing. Hang in there. We are all cheering for you!

    Last day.....to surgery I go!

Twelve pounds in a week isn't bad. :waytogo:It was worth missing the Super Bowl food wasn't it.:cursing: I'm so happy for you!!! I'm four days away. :tt2: Thank you all for all of your support. A couple of months ago we wondered if any of us would ever make it and now, here we are!

    St. Louis People

Hi MissouriMom and Cosmo24 Glad to see some other DePaul folks here. I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Scott this Friday. So far I have been extremely pleased with the staff at the WLI and Dr. Scott. The hospital staff for Pre-admission testing has been good. I'll let you know after Friday what I think of the hosptal. I hope I can be 56 lbs down after three months. That is pretty amazing.

    It's Reality Check Time!

Hey, I'm with you both, I'm avoiding the horror stories because they just mess with my mind. The positive stories are the ones I'm concentrating on until Friday when I have my surgery. It's going to be a good day!

    Last day.....to surgery I go!

Thanks 4Jin and Amy, Hard to believe it is only five days. I'm getting excited but when I look at the list of things I still have to do to get ready I get really scared. At least I will be too busy to worry.

    Last day.....to surgery I go!

So good to see you back on the board. :hurray:I have missed you and was starting to worry. :myscared:It must feel wonderful to have it behind you. I'm starting to get nervous.:cheers2: By this time next Friday I will be on my way to the recovery room. When I look at the list of things I have to do between now and then I really freak. Off to see my Dad this weekend so no hope for housework. Keep taking good care of yourself. When do you have to go back to work?:tt2: I'm really looking forward to a few days of peace and quiet. :tongue2: Again, Welcome Back!

    It's Reality Check Time!

Congratulations. Sounds like it went really well. I can't believe all the people that go home the same day. My Doc requires an overnight stay at the hospital. Glad you are doing well. Get plenty of rest!

    Welcome HOME Double V's!

Congratulations! Glad to hear it went well. :tt1: Get plenty of rest and feel better soon.
  13. You are neither one the oldest. I'm 54. Funny, the doctor said that the only risk factor I had for the surgery was my age?? Funny I never thought of 54 as particularly old. Oh well, I think it must be what you compare it too. I get my band on Feb 15 so I am only younger than you in band days.
  14. Welcome Laurieloo! Always glad to meet another Feb.15 band buddy. Funny, the thought of being in a wheelchair when I get grandkids is what pushed me into pursueing surgery. My DH and grown children are very supportive. 8 days and we'll be on the band wagon. Take care!
  15. I'm on the 15th too. I agree surgery is scary but so is being obese for the rest of my life. We can do this. Your girls will be a huge support to you. Only nine days to go.

    It's Reality Check Time!

Amy it's good to see you back on the boards. Glad it went well. I'm ready for the baton when Karen is ready to pass it on. Take care, both of you!
  18. Welcome, I'm a 54 year old retired second grade teacher. I work in higher education now, quite a switch but rewarding none the less. I am scheduled to get my band on Feb. 15 so you are right behind me. I think, other than one final house cleaning, I am ready. I'm finishing up the stuff I have to do at work this week and next :willy_nilly:and then I am off for two weeks. I plan to enjoy the ride.

    It's Reality Check Time!

I know how you feel. I did my heart stress test this morning. It was a releif to get that over with. A week from Friday I will be on the band wagon. It's pretty scary. You'll do fine. You've lost 17 pounds pre-op so you are on your way in good style. Take care. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

    Welcome HOME Double V's!

Way to go Cynthia. 15 pounds in 5 days is my kind of weight loss. I hope I do as well. Don't get back into things too fast. Give yourself time to heal.

    Medical Alert Bracelet?

Thanks Faith, That is a big help.
  23. Has anyone ordered a Medical Alert Bracelet. My doctor strongly recommends them because of the danger of perforation with an NG tube in an emergency. Any thoughts? How did you word it and what information did you put on it?
