    Anyone have band SLIPPAGE?

I wish I knew. My doctor did tell me that it probably wasn't anything I did, small comfort????

How are you feeling by now. I agree with eating things you know will work the first few days of school. I drank Protein shakes for lunch the first week I was back to work after my surgery so that I didn't risk getting sick. Slow down and relax. This is the best time of your life, enjoy it.

    Anyone have band SLIPPAGE?

I agree, I am really anxious to get it taken care of. We are planning to leave for vacation on Sept 30 and I want it over by then. The idea of waiting until we get back is not the least bit appealing. As it is, it'll be a cheap vacation with me on protein shakes most of the time. Oh well, can't be helped.

    Anyone have band SLIPPAGE?

You are so encouraging. I have a slip and I have to have my band replaced. I see the doctor on Thursday to see what he wants to do for sure but I can't eat anything but liquids without severe pain for several hours. I'm glad to know that the surgery for the replacement is not bad.

Good news:thumbup: It appears that my insurance will pay for a rebanding if medically necessary. I talked to a woman there this morning. Here is the kicker, if I go outpatient I have to go through the whole pre-determination process again, if I go inpatient all they have to do is get it precertified. The difference is $400 out of my pocket but I guess it worth it to get it done quickly. We leave on vacation September 30 and I would like to be healed by then. I got an earlier appointment with the doc too so things are looking up. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks ladies. I'm hoping it will resolve it's self before I see the doctor again. Gotta keep climbing the mountain.

Ben and Jerry's was probably a really bad choice but once in a while I'm prone to indulge. I'm going back to writing down what I eat tomorrow. I needed the pitty party tonight. I drank a bottle of isopure too, does that help. It was under 1500 calories for the day. I think waiting to see what will happen is in his mind. Maybe a complete unfill and a couple of weeks on mushies will help. At least they have really good soup where I work, and they strive to make them pretty healthy. I think Cottage Cheese will be my new best friend too. It's a bump in the road. I'll get it figured out. I think my doc is the best of the best and I trust him so if he says it's safe to wait, it probably is.

I have the same opinion of the bypass as you do. It's too irreversable and I'm just not comfortable with it. I'm sure someone will loan me the money if my insurance screws me over. I have to call them tomorrow. The nurse at my doctor's office said my insurance probably wouldn't pay for the sleeve, and again, it's pretty irreversable. I'm going to pray about it for the next two weeks and try to leave it there. HMMMM I wonder if I could get a trade in allowance for the old band like you can on an old car?????

Thanks Thinner! I kind of feel that way but the explanation I got was liquid is going through without pain so I can get by. My doc is very conservative and doesn't want to cut unless he has to. Everyone has a different opinion. To further complicate things my Aunt's funeral is at the same time as my follow up appointment and I live the closest so I am the designated attendee so I have to call them tomorrow to see if they can move it to the week before. I had a long chat with the nurse and she eased my mind some. Like I said, if I stick to liquids and soup and cottage cheese, I should be fine and lose a few pounds. I ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's while I had my pitty party and now I am over it.

You go girl! I did a 5K (walking) and thought I had accomplished something. I did five K in just over 44 minutes so I was pushing it. I need to start training again and do another one soon. I admire your for being so encouraging to all of us. Take care!

Well the tests clearly show a prolaps. :thumbdown:I didn't get information on how big, etc. I have a followup in two weeks to discuss options. He gave me four options, 1. do nothing (not an option, too much pain) 2. take the band out (last option in my opinion):cheers2: 3.replace the band (don't know if insurance will go along with that one):grouphug: 4. convert to a bypass. (not my idea of a good option) :crying:I guess I will have to wait to hear his explanation and recommendations. It's liquids and mushies for the next couple of weeks. :frown: Who knows maybe I'll get to Onederland. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayer's. I could feel them. God is in control and He is not going to send me someplace He can't protect me.

My tests are tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital at 7:30, yuck, that means I have to be on the road by 6:45. I'll post again as soon as I am awake enough to blog. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I'm a little scared but I guess that won't help any. The total unfill has cut down a little on the pain.

Good luck on your surgery. I think you will find that this is the best decision you can make for yourself.

The two tests are pretty much the same.

The upper GI is an X-ray and flouroscope where they watch the chalky stuff go down your esophogus into the stomach to see if there are any obstructions. They start with you standing up and then take more x-rays with you laying on your side and back. The chalky stuff is like a warm McDonalds shake.

I'll let you know when I get home tomorrow. Stick to liquids until you see your doctor. Cream of chicken Soup really tastes good when you don't feel good. The upper endoscopy and Upper GI don't hurt. The stuff you have too drink tastes a little chalky on the upper GI but that is not a big deal. For the upper endoscopy you will probably be asleep so it doesn't hurt at all. Reflux could cause the throat pain. I have that too. Your doctor will get it all sorted out fairly quickly. Are you starting college this year?

I think we all must be at the 18 month slump. Come on folks, let's hang in there together.
  22. I do a lot of Protein bars and string cheese when I travel. They are quick, easy and fit in my purse for times when I can't get away for lunch. Grilled chicken breast is good to order at a restaurant. Usually you can order it with steamed veggies. Put the leftovers in a to go box and you have supper ready when you get home. You may want to consider supplementing with a Protein shake because it is hard to get enough protein when you aren't doing your own cooking. Small salads are good at restaurants, maybe a shrimp coctail, Soup while you are on the mushy stage, baked potatos are also good on mushy but not much protein. Baked fish with steamed veggies are also a good choice. Hope this helps and good luck with your band.

    A narrowing?!

I've been going through a similar thing. Severe heartburn when I eat, bubble in my throat that won't let things go down comfortably, I called the doctor after the symptoms persisited for a couple of weeks and I couldn't alleviate it with diet changes, liquids for a few days, etc. I'm not one to run to the doctor unless I am pretty sure that there is a problem. I also had to wait a few days to get an appointment. I am scheduled for an upper endoscopy and upper GI tomorrow so hopefully we will know more then. You get the best care from your doctor, not the emergency room. If you can't swallow anything, then it is time to run, not walk, to the emergency room but until then, follow the nurse's advice and see your doctor. My advise to you Erin is to force yourself to drink small sips of Water and Protein (like isopure) throughout the day. When your protein intake is low and your liquid intake is low you can exhibit symptoms like you are having. Your biggest worry is probably dehydration so sipping small sips throughout the day will help with that. You are seeing the doctor in a few days so try not to worry or imagine things that may or may not be there. Hang in there and don't hesitate to come to the board whenever you have a problem. There are lots of us here who have been around a little longer than you have and would love to offer whatever advice we can. Just remember, your doctor and his nurse are your best sources for advice. My advice to you thinneranniesoon is, if you don't like what is written on a particular post, go read something else. We have all had times when we were unsure of how to proceed and questions to someone who has been there are helpful.

Well, I just got back from the doctor. He took the last 1 CC out of my band so it is completely empty now. I have an upper GI and Endoscopy scheduled for Tuesday so we will see where that goes. I'm praying that it won't cause me to lose the band because I don't want to try living without it. I know I can't go on like I am because I don't like pain!!!!!

Thanks LittleMiss, my appointment can't come too soon, I ate the meat and cheese out of a lunchable (not the crackers mind you) and have been in severe pain since 1 oclock. I hope he can figure it out soon.
