I had my lap band removed and converted to rny on Tuesday. I was discharged around 3:00 today and feeling okay. I cannot tolerate the liquid lortab I was prescribed so I have been without pain medication since yesterday. I did get two or three doses of toradol and iv acetaminophen in once my fentanyl pump was discontinued. I am in pain but not enough to take that nasty medicine. I keep a small firm pillow with me and hold it tightly against my stomach to splint it. It definitely helps. I am so so so tired. I could sleep all day.

New Food For Post Ops...
Bingcherry replied to lovelygirl01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd like one as well. Sharonmanthony @ gmail . com Thank you -
I'm so sorry to hear that. I am having surgery tomorrow the 16th and might be in your boat. I've had my band for 9 years and am so concerned that I will have to wait another three months to have the bypass. Even if they can't do it all tomorrow, I will be thrilled to get my band out. Hang in there.

Dropping below 40 BMI before surgery
Bingcherry replied to almitch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in your shoes as well a few months ago. My BMI was right at 35 but I have high blood pressure so I qualified. In my case, the weight that determined if I qualified was my weigh in at my surgical consultation. It didn't matter how much weight I lost after that. Good luck. -
I'm scheduled for Tuesday the 16th. I'm really struggling with the diet. I broke down and had a few mini crackers the other day. It satisfied my craving and I moved on. I have to be on liquds for a week after surgery and then full liquids for another two weeks. I have no idea how I'm going to make it. Good luck to everyone!!!

who is having surgery in September?
Bingcherry replied to veronica.gray's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm Sept 16th. Only a few more days to go. I'm having a revision from band to bypass. I'm praying that my surgeon can do both in the same surgery, otherwise I have to wait until December. Good luck to everyone! -
Hi Lucy, I"m having surgery on the 16th as well. I'm not supposed to start my diet until the 2nd but I decided to start today. This is definitely no fun. I'm so hungry right now. We have to keep pushing through. It will all be worth it in the end. Keep it up. Sharon

I'm having mine on the 16th as well and will be starting my pre-op diet on the 2nd too!!!! I am having a revision so I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that my surgeon will be able to remove my band and do the bypass at the same time. I thought about starting my pre-op diet today but changed my mind quickly. I'm afraid it's not going to be as easy for me as I thought.

I need to update my profile, sorry. I'm outside of Orlando, Florida. I'm praying that my surgeon can do both procedures at once. He said he's about 50/50 right now. I've had my band since 2005 and I'm concerned that I'll have to wait 3 months for the bypass. When I had my EGD he said he thinks he can do it but can't be sure until he gets in there and looks at the tissue. Do you have to go on a liquid diet pre-op? I start on Sept 2nd.

August 6th lap band to gastric bypass surgery

I would definitely be calling their office. I know they're busy but that's a bit unacceptable. -
Band slippage revision to RNY. A question about insurance!
Bingcherry posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi All, I was banded back in 2005 and lost approximately 60 lbs. About two years ago I started having issues with my band and gained back a significant amount of the weight I lost. I had my EGD today in preparation for my surgery and was told my band has slipped. With all the issues I've been having with it, I wasn't the least bit surprised. I am a bit apprehensive about the RNY but I believe it is my best option. If you had a slipped band or other issues, was it easier to get your removal/revision approved through your insurance co.? If so, and your insurance company has a waiting period, did they waive it? Thanks Michelle -
Feeling lost about which surgery to choose!
Bingcherry posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a revision patient (currently have a slipped lap band) and am having a really hard time deciding if I want a sleeve or RNY. After my EGD my surgeon pretty much told me it was up to me. I really was leaning toward the RNY but I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that I may never eat a piece of birthday cake or have a bowl of ice cream after surgery. Am I crazy? I have about 60 lbs to lose and a small touch of GERD so I think I could do the sleeve but I don't want to fail and have to have another surgery. Did anyone feel this way when trying to make a decision? Thanks
